Does Sony TGS confirm Japan is irrelevant?

The people who say Japan is irrelevant in gaming aren't real gamers.

XB1 will always be relevant no matter what Sony does. They don't need to be relevant in Japan to be successful. Even the Wii U is still relevant at least until the NX launches. If you were talking about the Ouya, I could agree with you. That's thing isn't relevant and ANY market. TGS was a great show though.

As far as sales go, Japan is largely irrelevant whether you admit it or not. Outside of mobile, gaming sales are down heavily in Japan. Just because you think something, doesn't make it so.

It seemed like a show where they showed off A LOT more incoming games. That's good news for gamers if you ask me.

I was very underwhelmed by by Microsofts TGS conference.

TGS proved that Xbone is irrelevant.

Lems are in damage control and butthurt that they won't be getting as much Japanese support anymore.

Japan has been under major problems for a about a decade now.

Software and hardware sales are at an all time low and there's not much that jp devs can do to latch onto. PS3 and VITA are dead. Xbox is dead. PC never lived. And Nintendo is far too unkown at this point.

PS4 is a last hope, yet each series keep selling worse and worse. MGS5 sold less than 4 on 2 platforms.

This isn't an issue for devs who can reach global audiances liek From Software, SE, Platinum, Tango, Koji Pro, etc.

But for many, well, "animu games" (sorry to say t this way), it's extremely difficult to break into teh western market. So Japan, which like i said is dying, ends up accounting for 50% or more, of the sales.

It's good for Sony and the PS4 brand, but in the long run, there won't many jp devs doing those games to support the console. Unless Ninty did something. But then again, when you realize that they're going mobile in part aswell, yeah.

Japan isn't irrelevant, but when you notice problematic sales and development they have, for a country once at teh centre of all of gaming, yeah.

Shut the **** up, Danganronpa and Gravity Rush needed to be on the PS4. Period. Just like Tearaway, but we already have that.

The PS4 is starting to do well , and Japan has already produced two Goty contenders this year in MGSV and BB. I would say this is the best Japan has done in awhile.

Correct of way putting it, yeah Japan is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. It's not much of a console market, there isn't much of a future in the handheld space with what mobile gaming is over there, and the games they make and announce don't sell big here.

You want to argue Japan can still make great games? You won't see a disagreement out of me, the worst thing that can happen to this industry is the death of Japanese games. Becuase the triple A western devs? Tend to make games with mediocre gameplay with a whole lot of filler sequences and "bu bu production value". But they draw more money at this point, a metric shit ton more money than what Japan is doing.

Plus I get gassing up Yakuza, but gassing up I don't know a game by Team Ninja after the shit show that was Ninja Gaiden 3 (especially Razor's Edge) or modern day Tecmo, gassing up shitty jrpgs that look vanilla as hell, or a mother fucking dynasty warrior type game because it has dragon quest on the box is some desperation, and ignoring the once great Japan used to give us shit like Resident Evil, Silent HIll, Devil May Cry, Otogi, Ninja Gaiden, Ace Combat, Maximo, and the like.

Outside of Platinum, The Dark Souls Factory, and Atlus, it's a whole lot of pretenders announcing nonsense.

It's funyn to me how many are hyping up Capcom, for example, when all they're doing is re-releasing their old good games, while new ones are lacking. All this talk about RE remakes when RE7 will probably be shit.

I also forogt to meantion the lack of indies and crowdfudning in Japan.

In teh west, this has allowed many devs to have a new format for game development in addition to mobile and AAA games. In japan, no such stuation exists. So if you struggle to reach teh west and sales in their home country fall, mobile is what exists to carry on to, sadly.

Tons of high profile players ahve been going this way, recently. Itakagi, Konomi, SEGA. Even Capcom seems to be on the verge.

I have no idea what this denial is, I said there was a western focus, there IS a western focus, and a heavy one, since the start, and there WERE more American PS4 releases than japanese ones in japan for a bit. All of this happened whether you want to believe it or not. Even now PS4 is heavily western focused. Also Sony doesn't lead most gens, they are tied.

As for point one....lems did that last gen. It's SW. That doesn't mean I can't point out stupid. Anyone using generic fan boy terms as a point when they don't like a issue raised by someone else needs to get a grip. There are criticisms to be had in gaming.
