what about metroid games?I don't like playing as a female. There hasn't been a game yet that didn't involve half naked females to appeal to a male audience. I don't want to look at exposed skin as I'm playing because that kind of appeal isn't what makes me enjoy a game.
Of course I haven't played a "mandatory female main character" yet so who knows what say, FF 13 will be like. FF 6 doesn't count because Terra (who is awesome) isn't the only character you play as and I haven't played a recent gen game involving a female main character that isn't a typical female fatal.

i am kinda wary on buying some female protagonist games as most of them were created for horny nerds
games like mirriors edge are fine but some are just too much
what about metroid games? Did you not read any further in the thread? Right below that post someone brings up metroid and he says those games don't really appeal to him... wow, you didn't read the posts directly below the one you're quoting?[QUOTE="thattotally"]

[QUOTE="AdobeArtist"]Same here.I've played as Lara Croft and as the Prince of Persia.
I swing both ways ;)

And on a more serious note, any guy who has issues with playing a female protagonist, I really suspect has deeply rooted insecurities that probably isn't limited to just inhibiting their games. Its just a game, relax, you're not actually becoming female :P

Don't be so hard on them. It's quite possible that they just feel physical attraction to males instead of females and would rather stare at the tight butt of a guy than a girl while playing their game![QUOTE="AdobeArtist"][QUOTE="nintendoboy16"] Same here.clicketyclick

Yup, so we've established that if you refuse to play a good game because the protagonist is female, it's either because you're sexist and are afraid that by playing a girl you're becoming effeminate, or, it's because you just love men's bums. Not that there's anything wrong with that.In general, no, I don't care. However, when the female character is a stereotypical pink 'oopsie-daisy' girl, I will not feel comfortable playing with her. I will rarely use Peach in Brawl or Mario Kart, for example.
The oversexualised bimbo with revealing clothing and a chest the size of a pair of skippyballs is the other extreme, though, and I cannot really take such characters serious.
That shoved aside, though, I really enjoyed playing through the Metroid Prime trilogy as Samus, for example, and I find her much more appealing than Master Chief. Joanna Dark is another example of a good female protagonist.
no. i just don't like it when they try to push a female character as being "bad ass". sometimes they try too hard and make her very annoying. thats what i loved about the boss in MGS3. she was just a natural bad ass woman.
Super Metroid is one of my favorite games of all time, so no. The only way it would get on my nerves is if the developers were trying to shove a "girl power!" message down my throat.
Can't say I really care, however besides RE there aren't much games I own with female main characters... if any.
I dont mind playing as a female protagonist. I much prefer playing a male since I can relate to a male character more. But I dont mind kicking some ass in Tekken 6 online using Christie once in a while.
No not really. Some of my faviourite leads are female, like Cate Archer, Nariko and... that's about it actually. :P I would allways play as a female in Guild Wars aswell, because one the males look strange, and two if I have to look atan avatars backfor 100 hours I'd rather it be female. Yes, I am that shallow. :P
Samus pretty much answers that.ArisShadows
Of course in the first game, she was concealed in in her armor and it was only revealed as a surprise twist at the end. Basically guys had to be tricked into playing a female protagonist :P
Call me weird, but I almost prefer playing as a chick. In RPGs, I find there's something particularly, shall I say intriguing, about playing as the fairer sex. If my goal is to play a role, and I'm in this for sort of an escapist sort of experience, doesn't it make sense that I play a different role than usual? I mean, I'm already a battlemage elf, may as well make it a lady right?
Don't like playing as a woman especially as a little girl in JRPG. Sorry, but if I was gonna send someone to save the world then I'd prefer it to be a man.
Though I like the Metroid games, and Tomb Raider.
Damn right. And there's more to come.:D[QUOTE="AdobeArtist"]
And I fully support your sig design choices there, Mitu :)

Just don't be so quick to dump your current AlbaAran sig so soon now. Seriously, that is your best one ever :applause:

Thanks, and I'll give it another 2-2 and a half months. Though I think I can make a better sig than this.:oI don't care.
Hell, I'd prefer more games to have female leads. It seems that with all the Heroes of the Universe being male, that the highest circle of hero heaven would be severely lacking in chicks...
