 at the blind consensus graphics whores in here.

DS was an underpowered handheld compared to PSP, yet it kicked off the start of the next generation of handhelds back in 2004. The same can be said about the DREAMCAST or XBOX 360. And even better, same applies to 3DS and PS Morta.....I mean Vita.

Why completely discredit the WiiU as next gen?

Face it kiddies, Wii-U is NEXT GEN whether you kids cry  about it or not.

Capitan_Kid

DS is lightyears ahead of the gba. Wii U is barely stronger than ps3/360. Its current gen.

WiiU has dx11 capabilities and it can pull off 1080P with no MSAA according to the rumors while the 360/PS3 struggle to even pull of 1080P with any games.

[QUOTE="Cranler"] Consoles are wannabe pc's. Pc already has secondary displays as well although theyre kind of a waste imho. If the PS 2 was just now coming out and had the same specs as ps3 it would be a current gen system even though it would be 30x more powerful than ps1. Generations of human families are not the same as generations of electronics. Cranler

In that case the ps2 would be at least 50X or more times more powerful because the ps1 could barely produce 3D textures that well, while the ps2 could produce 3D textures that were somewhat blurry and the ps3 could produce low res high definition textures. And I don;t care about power now a days unless I get interesting games and a innovative controller that is used well. Graphics are the icing on the cake if a publisher can afford to. produce a console that has great graphics.

Lol. Your reasoning has nothing to do with measuring and comparing power by factor

The point I'm trying to make is that power isn't everything. It's going to be harder next gen for any consumer without some knowledge about pc hardware to notice how powerful next gen consoles will be compared to the WiiU.That is why MS and Sony should try to make afforable consoles next gen instead of aiming for the graphics whores.

Scribblenauts Unlimited,Rayman Legends(maybe).Barely no games are 1080P yet, but games like ME3 and ZombiU run at 720P and 60fps.

yeah of course you would say that with fanboy glasses on, even though the point was to show that stuff shown at E3 really shouldn't be used to measure the power of the Wii U but you keep believing that current gen games can pull of been in HD, while having texture and lighting level of that and playing in 60 FPS.

Cranler

I gues the point of e3 was to underwhelm everyone

yes again ignoring the fact that the final dev kits were only just made very close to E3. no you are right, them developers should have blown us away with the short amount of time they had.

What would be the point of buying a new console if it wasnt a significant upgrade?

I'm talking about controllers opening up new possibilities to gaming.I'm fine with the current controllers, but sometimes companies need to create more innovative contollers.

Most gamers would rather have a conventional controller. Motion controls get tiring after a few minutes. Better graphics, physics,ai, larger npc counts, no loading. These things are what most want.

I like how there is a touch screen and other stuff built into the controller.

the Wii U doesn't represent a leap, Nintendo is just catching up to current gen and struggling.

Yet, Epc, Gearbox, Crytek and other developers have all said that Wii U is a next gen console and is more powerful than both the PS3 and Xbox 360, But we should just ignore that and only use fanboy dribble.

What you say makes no sense when looking at how much profit Nintendo had made off the generation, and how they're doing the same with the 3DS for the next generation. Where is the "struggling"? If it's about "struggles" and "catching up" then maybe the Vita is a generation behind? Maybe we could've labelled the PS3 a generation behind back within it's first few years.

Yes, it's going to be funny to watch lemmings flip flop on the most A - AAA over all game argument they have been pressing to give 360 an auto win in arguments about the best console.

According to lemmings Wii U will have an auto win in best console arguments simply because it will have a full year or 2 worth of games stacked to pad numbers against the upcoming systems and multiplats count in their argument so even ports of PS3 and 360 games will be thrown in...

Hardly

It is like saying next gen started with 3DS release

Next gen is about games like Star Wars 1313 and FF Agnes, nothing less

What did happen is that Nintendo got into the current generation

loosingENDS

gens are based on chronological order not power. But then again pee cee is like 2 gens behind 360 amirite?
