If I were to state that PS3 or 360 had better games library than the Wii due to games like Dragon Age, Fallout 3, Dante's Inferno, etc, you would see Nintendo fans say things like "but we have Mario, Zelda, Metroid etc". But hang on a second, since when did Mario ever compete against Dragon Age or Fallout 3? Don't you think they are completely different games for seperate audiences? You can't replace Dragon Age with Mario Galaxy. It appears that the Wii has almost nothing to counter Dragon Age.

Now lets look at things the other way around. Does Sony have games to counter Nintendo games? Yes they do! Sony has games like ModNation Racers to compete with Mario Kart, 3D-Dot Heroes to compete against Zelda, and Little Big Planet to compete against Mario platformers, and so on. You can enjoy Nintendo-like games on a Sony console, but you can't play Sony-like games on a Nintendo console. Talk about getting the best of both worlds :)

So Wii owners, lets see what kind of games you would use to compensate for the lack of Dragon Age, Fallout 3, God of War, and others?

Shouldn't every console have some kind of variety? Variety in games is very important to me. I love violent games, I love non-violent games, I love games from all kinds of aspects and enjoy many genres. The Wii only caters to one area, while Sony and MS cater to all areas.

You can play Nintendo-like games on the PS3, but not Nintendo quality games. Besides, I can play the best versions of Dragon Age, ME and F3 on my PC.

Wii has tried to cater to the hardcore crowd with games like No More Heroes and Mad World, but Im pretty sure they all sold pretty poorly.

1) Sony games are not Nintendo-like in quality? Take those Nostalgia goggles off. I enjoyed LittleBig Planet more than any Mario game... I had a hard time doing that until I decided to focus beyond my nostalgia for Mario. I think the same will happen with 3D-Dot Heroes and ModNation Racers

2) I play those games on PC too, but many people here don't have good PCs for those games. Oh, and there are other great PS3/360 games that are not on PC.

It doesn't have true AAA RPGs, true, but it really doesn't need to. It still has some other great games in other genres; RPG fans just have to look elsewhere.

Anyway, some great and good RPGs on the Wii are Little King's Story, Muramasa, Tales of Symphonia 2, Opoona, Fire Emblem. None of these games really come close to being better than DA, ME, or Fallout, but they're still good games.

I like how you try to make variety look like a negative thing. Tell me, if you were to eat ice cream every day, would you only eat chocolate-flavored ice cream, or would you appreciate the option of having stawberry flavor, vanilla, caramel, mango, banana, etc? Variety is NEVER a bad thing. It can only be a good thing. Even if Nintendo were to make a violent game, does this mean that Mario games would suddenly become extinct? Nope.

I think it would be interesting if someone asked "Does the PS3 or 360 have an answer for games like Super Mario Galaxy, de Blob, New Super Mario Bros., or A Boy and His Blob?"

Wii has the weaker RPG library and the HD twins have the weaker platformer library. No system will satisfy every single type of game this gen, so far at least.

If they want more RPG's. The Wii lacks in that department, but it's not completely without them.

1) People who don't care about graphics, online, Blu-ray or other "unnecessary" features 2) People who only enjoy about accesible games that are pick-up-and-play 3) People who don't like mature games at all, yet buy any game with the word "Mario" on the cover. Thats all I can think of at the moment.

I think definition 2 is the only one that's right. I don't care much about graphics or Blu-Ray (online I do care about though since that's replayability) yet I consider myself part of the "core" market. The third one really is just about tastes. Some people may just dislike violence in general or the way games have a tendency to glamorize it, yet they can play some non-"casual" games that aren't rated M. I think the best way to define "casual" is: someone who doesn't regularly play video games (sort of a broader version of your second definition)

really..LBP more than mario? were you playing LBP as a paltformer or were you spending your time making levels in LBP? i love LBP..its got some really kewl levels from the community and ill not hear a word said against the awesome sackboy. but as a platformer...LBP is a sloppy mess. and no sony games arent ninty like in quality. sony games tend to have different qualities (there more cinematic and have massive prodiction values and are more story dirven. ninty doesnt play that game). sony basically only have one developer that could take ninty on head on....the magnificent team ico ( one of only 2 devs outside of ninty that could make a game of zelda quality imo). all their other devs play to different strengths.

There are 71 million Wii owners out there. What if some of them want to play a game similar to Dragon Age, but couldn't because their PC isn't good enough to run it, and they did not have a PS3 or 360? Would you tell them "Don't worry about Dragon Age, I'm sure that Wii Sports Resort will satisfy your desire to battle demons and defeat the Darkspawn" :|

Go play Monster Hunter Tri, or Okami, or Zelda, or get a PS3 or 360, or upgrade your PC.

If they wanted that sort of game, they wouldn't have purchased a Wii. Besides, you killed your own thread. There are 71 million Wiis out there today. Clearly Nintendo did something right. Your thread is flawed.

There isn't anything that Nintendo has that Sony canot offer. Even if there is, it won't be long before Sony WILL copy it ;)

no variety is not a bad thing, but nintendo are not trying to adopt the genre the other systems are heavy on.. and with 71 million ppl owing a Wii people ARE enjoying chocolate flavored ice cream only ;)

if you want that variety there's always PC, PS3, 360, etc..

LBP does not make up for all the platformers that the Wii has that. It's a very good game, but it's not the second-best reviewed game of all time like SMG. Again, I will restate this, NO ONE SYSTEM THIS GEN THOROUGHLY SATISFIES EVERY SINGLE GAMER. An RPG and platformer lover needs two systems.

My thread was never about "who had most sales". It was about "what does Nintendo have to compete with Dragon Age or Fallout 3"? I understand that the Wii has the most sales, but that was never the purpose of this thread. The only reason why I am talking about sales is to remind you that if a console has 71 million players, then there will cetainly be some variety between them. Some Wii owners don't care about Dragon Age. Other Wii owners would absolutely love it and probably wish it was on the Wii.

Sony has games like ModNation Racers to compete with Mario Kart, 3D-Dot Heroes to compete against Zelda, and Little Big Planet to compete against Mario platformers, and so on. You can enjoy Nintendo-like games on a Sony console, but you can't play Sony-like games on a Nintendo console. Talk about getting the best of both worlds :)

So Wii owners, lets see what kind of games you would use to compensate for the lack of Dragon Age, Fallout 3, God of War, and others?

Eh, I see someone is mad at my post in the other thread. How you're a level 28 puzzles me.

I was never mad about your post in another thread. I didn't even respond to you in the other thread yet :|

It appears that the Wii has almost nothing to counter Dragon Age.

wuut?3d dot in no way competes against any zelda game made since 1998... it's an homage to the old 2d zelda games

again, LBP doesn't play anything like the new mario games, much more akin to the old 2d mario games than the new,you need better examples if youre trying to make a point...

youre trying to make the Wii compete with the other 2 consoles, when the entire point of the wii is that it DOESNT compete with the other 2 consoles.. it gives us something different. and I, for one, am happy with that..

I don't understand these "does X system have anything to answer for games X, Y, and Z". The fact is, it doesn't need them. Both systems are generally aimed at a vastly different target audience. The Wii offers many old Nintendo IP's, as well as new ones to bring both gamers and non-gamers into the fold.

Anyone still using that LBP Vs Galaxy or NSMB Wii argument needs to give it up. LBP is good for what it is, a great level editor game, if you think that is good platforming than you need to set your fanboy delusions, pick up a Wii and grab galaxy and learn what time, non floaty, good platforming controls are.

And even then, comparing 2.5D side scrolling floaty "platformer" to a 3D Platfomer that's actually incredible at what it is, is just an insult. At least just compare it to NSMB Wii that's a good match. And if anyone wants to dispute the fact that I don't have LBP, ask me for a picture of it stacked on Super Mario Galaxy, taken in front of my gamespot account screen. Thanks.

So, basically, you are saying that people who have 3Dot Heroes or LBP will not want to play SMG, SMG2 or NSMBWii, and Zelda TP...really?

...LittleBigPlanet doesn't compete with the Mario platformers. And 3d-dot doesn't compete with Zelda.

The Wii doesn't have games that compete with Dragon Age or Fallout 3 (god I really hated Fallout 3). But so What? What does xbox and ps3 have that can compete with Monster Hunter Tri, Endless Ocean 2 or Cave Story Wii?

I have LBP and I don't care about Mario anymore. I havent touched my Wii in 8 months. And I never liked Zelda much in the first place. Zelda TP bored me out.

[QUOTE="musicalmac"]Does it have to?PandaBear86

Shouldn't every console have some kind of variety? Variety in games is very important to me. I love violent games, I love non-violent games, I love games from all kinds of aspects and enjoy many genres. The Wii only caters to one area, while Sony and MS cater to all areas.

Your saying all Wii games are the same?
