It never did to begin with.
Indeed it does. The only thing that really added to the twins from last year were a couple of multiplats. Xbox is bringing it this year though. So right now I'd rank it Wii U, Xbox One, then PS4.
Yep, by far, especially for my personal taste. My two favorite types of games to play are party games to play with friends and platformers, and the Wii U excels at those two types of games more than any other console since the N64. I absolutely love the Wii U's library of games.
Why is it so hard to get a good platformer outside of the indie space and Nintendo these days, man? Why?
Still? No multiplats eliminates it from having best lineup. Their exclusives aren't that good. If they were they would sell more consoles
Ah yes, I keep forgetting sales determine quality.
Nintendo tells us they focus primarily on video games which seems why the Wii U (and even 3DS) is fairly limited in what it can do beyond playing games. People not buying this system is a referendum on the quality of the games. A large percentage of people do not find these games appeal to warrant a console purchase.
... the **** did I just read? You are saying that sales equal quality, which is nonsense. Mc Donalds sell more hamburgers than high end restaurants do choice cut steaks, shitty pop bands sell more than classical composers, Dancing with the Stars gets more viewers than Mystery Theater, Call of Duty sells more than Souls games.
See where I'm going with this? People like shitty things and popular things are often shitty. Wii sold more systems and games than PS3 and 360 did, but I doubt you'd say they are of higher quality and that the people knew this because they bought that stuff. Stuff sells because of popularity and trends, not because of quality.
Come on man.
If you wanted to make a point, why did you put so many crappy WiiU games on that list?
Because I'm not making a point, I'm asking a question.
And outside of arguably Kirby and Mario Party, which games are crappy, exactly?
Mario Kart 8.

Keep the comparison on the straight and narrow rather than using hyperbole.
All things being equal, the consoles are comparable in price, availability, price of software, availability of software, etc..,
Excuses are strong with the Nintendo marks. According to them, people are not over-looking the Wii U because they feel the software is junk. Rather, it is because the hardware is junk. The bottom line is the Wii U is quite affordable and if the games were as fantastic as the marks suggest (which I don't disagree that some are good) people would be tripping over themselves to become an owner. The perceived value of gaming on the Wii U is not appealing to many and whether one can come to grips or not, the software plays a big role in the decision whether or not to enter the fray.
It definitely has the most interesting games this generation in my opinion which is why I still buy games for it instead of the PS4. But if we include multiplats then definitely not. The twins still have the big name multiplats like Call of Duty, Rock Band, Grand Theft Auto, etc. which do matter.

You know my opinion on the matter already
Most of those are on PC. Lots of them are indies. Even more of them are not big budget titles. I don't know about you but I don't buy a new system to play indie games. Where is the equivalent of Halo 5, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Forza 6? Even their remasters lack any real pizazz. More work was done on the MCC than on the nathan drake collection. Also a few of those are Vita ports and remasters. I'm not impressed and no one else is either. A few of them aren't even out yet, i.e. Detroit and Uncharted 4. And Gran Turismo 7? that's YEARS away.
Listing The Last Guardian is a cruel joke. And again horizon zero dawn is quite some time away and shouldn't be on the list. What's available RIGHT NOW that's worth playing? BloodBorne...and that's all folks.
In two years Wii U had MK8 and 3D world on their console. This fall they have Xeno X and Mario Maker. Xbox One has Halo 5 and Forza 6. What's PS4 have this holiday season? Exactly.
So much willful ignorance. And a poor argument, nonetheless.
So a better argument is to post a list from wikipedia that lists Infamous First Light as an exclusive?
Using that list, listing actual exclusives not available on other systems, or remakes of older games I come up with the following:
Killzone
Knack
Resogun
Infamous
Basement Crawl
Driveclub
The Order
Bloodborne
Godzilla
N++
DIsgaea 5
But sure...that lineup is better the Wii U's exclusive lineup /s
I don't have time nor the desire to make his argument for him. Providing the list was an opportunity for him to indicate why he disagrees. Instead, I got "PS4 has nothing this year, indies aren't real games, and not exclusive because it's on PC." I have better things to do with my time than spend it running the same race.
Make a comparative list eliminating remakes/re-releases/remasters from both X1 and Wii U and then compare and then another that includes them. And if you want to, go ahead and include BC games. Then another list that includes "console" and "timed" exclusives. And do we begin to debate whether PC technically has all the games thanks to piracy/streaming? This merry-go-round analysis just goes around and around and around. The question becomes so convoluted based on establishing the measuring criteria that it's not worth the time investment it takes to push against the boulder that is anonymous internet person X when his argument relies on disqualifying games rather than measuring them on their own merits (which then is likely to devolve into "didn't play X, don't have to to know it's shit.").
If there is a genuine desire to discuss games themselves rather than go through the same ritual of measuring each console's dick size, I'll meaningfully entertain it. Otherwise, the response provided was warranted.
And yet you put more work into this reply than replying to my post. I got specific and if you think putting unreleased games on an exclusives list counts than you're out of your mind.
In terms of exclusives? Absolutely. Nintendo's first party is so much better than everyone else's at this point that the comparison is laughable.
Overall? No. This year moved it over the top. Not having MGSV, Rocket League, Ori and the Blind Forest, Halo 5, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Bloodbourne, The Witcher 3, etc has hurt it.
But Ori, Halo 5, and BloodBorne are multiplats. I don't honestly think having MGSV or Witcher 3 would help a Nintendo console. Multiplat whores don't buy Nintendo consoles. Nintendo console owners prefer Nintendo games.

Let's also throw in that I"m sure the vast majority of people that care to own a Nintendo system at this point have to do so as a "secondary" console. So they quite literally are only buying the console to play Nintendo games. If you think most of these people "don't play multiplats" on other platforms then I'm pretty sure you'd be wrong.
Yes, the multiplat attach rate on Wii was miserable as well - but that was because of the fad/casual nature of that system. I.e. the unwashed masses were literally only buying it for the motion controls, and then just threw in a couple of "Nintendo" games. I agree that those types of people aren't playing Elder Scrolls or Metal Gear Solid, but I also don't think too many of them bought a Wii-U either.

Right, because it wasn't directed to you but to another's inquiry.
The list produced took .5 seconds to Google; I made zero claims as to its accuracy, but provided it as a starting point for you to disagree. Your response was spurious, without merit or substance, and worth the minimal time I took to disregard it. If you want to disagree, at least have good reasons, but disregarding games because "Lots of them are indies. Even more of them are not big budget titles" is a f*cking joke and only promulgates the stereotype of Xbox fanboys as shallow and incompetently litigious.
Multiplatform games are over rated. Those are the games most gamers complain about the MOST for being unpolished, derivative, cliched, tired, old, and redundant. I'm not afraid to say multiplats are my least favorite type of game on any console. Exclusives all the way. First and second party games that take real advantage of a console's particular hardware and capabilities.
Irony here is how many critically acclaimed, Nintendo games can easily be ported (and in many cases improved upon) to competing consoles and hardware if not for licensing issues.
