Donkey Kong Country Returns official hype thread! Reviewers are going bananas!

It'll probably score an 8.5 here. Good scores all around so far.

Luckily I never cared TOO much about the bossfights in DKC games. I never think back and think of an amazing boss fight, but rather the levels that got me there. Now that I think about it, DKC3 (if I recall) had the best boss fights.

Yeah I like games that are challenging, but hoepfully the reviewers know what they are talking about. It's possible that they might not be good at the game but I doubt that because every reviewer so far said it was challenging

I'm very excited for this game. I have it preordered and paid off.

Between this game, Epic Mickey, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Zelda in 2010, I'm definitely glad I switched from PS3 to Wii.

i think this has a good chance at AAA status. i think it'll get a 9.0 to be exact. it looks really fun and i want a wii for this game!

Awww its a shame you dont have both! I know its hard to have mutliple consoles if money is tight, but PS3 and Wii are both amazing machines :). Although I am excited for this, SMG2 (havent played it yet) and more, Zelda: SS is my MAIN reason for buying a Wii :).

Looking at the reviews, 8.5 here. It seems a little mixed, but they are all good unlike Other M.

Completely agree about SS. I have a feeling it will be one of the best Zelda games yet and possibly be the second best for me (behind OoT most likely). Huh, Well I personally loved Uncharted 1 and 2 (especially 2), MGS4, God of War III (although not as good as the other two), and more. I am pretty excited for some of the games to come as well, especially FF Vs XIII :).

Impossible for this to score AAA under GS current system. A system that will allow CoD to continiously score AAA.

No, it's not.

The wii version scored lower due to standards. The music is the higher score in the GC version, more was expected of the Wii version in that regard. The wii version is considered better by GS due to wii controls. Not the waggle to attack, but the aiming and the ease of the spin attack among other things. I believe Jeff mentions this in the GC review.

This was one of the first examples(well, since i've been at GS) to support the arguement that one game outscoring another didn't mean it was better.

Looks like the developers weren't monkeying around when they designed this.

If i remember correctly it was simply that Jeff was more forgiving of it. Midi and no VA was terrible for a next gen game, especially since there was more then enough space on a wii disc.

That's true, but I think the review says it all. The score is a weird thing to get hung up on.

It will probably be in a few days...like friday at the end of next week :P. They are so slow.

I can see Tom reviewing this game at his house all comfortable-like. Then in his review he will complain about how the incredible difficulty ruined his calm weekend :(

yeah I knew we could count on Retro to keep it challenging and appealing to core gamers :). They did a brilliant job with the Prime series and this looks to be another strong game to put on their track record. Cant wait to see what they are working on next!
