Such a ridiculous game..... you can play for hours, but die, and those hours spent, mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! yeah thats right....even XP.... sure you can get your XP back if you get to your body.... oh wait, all the enemies have respawned.... but the items you used to survive until that point havent respawned into your backpack.

And if you die again trying to get back to your body.... then the XP is gone for good. This game is good for people who don't have much money, and want a game that will last a long time, due to it demanding you play for hours in order to get nowhere.

I originally gave this game a 9/10.... now I'm thinking 7/10.

If you do decide to play it.... don't be a "thief".... If it turns out that I'm having such a hard time due to choosing a difficult type of character to play as, then I'll gladly retract my previous statements.

Well, with everything I've heard for over a year was it was hard.

So I wouldn't pick a Thief my first run through on such a hard game, who knows.

It's really a challenge, I've died A LOT. In all honesty, I haven't gotten mad once. It feels good to be challenged like this for once, always having to correct your mistakes and better yourself.

It's a challenging game which appeals to most gamers here but I doubt the majority who purchase it will even finish it.

That's what seems pretty cool. Like you said, it's not hard because it's cheap. Those games annoy me, but actual challenges make it so much more fun. When I play L4D I have to play it on Expert, otherwise it's just too damn easy.

Is this a game you can put down for a week and then pick back up? Or will you need to retrain yourself to get good again, or just keep playing straight? Anyone?

Demon's Souls is a niche game obviously not for everyone. TC, you knew what you were getting into when you bought this game so quit complaining. What you are doing is akin to complaing that Flight Simulator isnt accessible enough :|

Ya, like it's pretty even playing field when you start, keeping your wits is the hardest part. You also have to read almost every message you see. They help even so far and beyond it's incredible.

Its the way you are playing, not the game that is the problem. If you want to easymode the game play a royal and just soul arrow spam your way through the thing.

no no no. But there are way stones in each world to the nexus ( 1 for each boss area), regardless i could warp to lets say baleteria palace kill some enemies, go back to the nexus. Go back ot the palace and all the enemies will be back. But as far as behind you goes a lot of suprise attacks;

depends on whether you want to make the game easy or hard. it doesnt matter what class you pick really. it only affects the begining mainly by giving you more of certain stats and giving you starting gear /spells to go along with it. Playing with a melee build is alot harder then a ranged build.

Well dont die going back to get your souls. And the game at least saves your progress if you open a door or something. Its not as bad as your making it out to be.

Having to go back and pick up your stuff is A-okay and reminds me a bit of PSO but if what you say is true and the enemies re-spawn then that not so okay. Hate respawnings - once killed they should stay killed.:?

but the problem is you spend a ton of souls leveling ( you level by adding 1 stat point, after levling a stat point the amount of souls for the next one goes up regardless), so when you go and come back you'll have to go through all the enemies again and again and again, and as far as a class goes ,I choose knight, strong, but gets to keep the speed of a theif while wearing armor. http://demonssouls.wikidot.com/demon-s-souls That may help you as well

maybe so.... but I beat Ninja Gaiden 2 on Warrior without any problems.... People talked about how hard that was.... I didn't think this game would be so unforgiving. I will probably jsut give up on it.... there are far too many great games coming out, plus others I already own that I've hardly touched... I gotta ask myself "whats the point of wasting all this time on 1 game and not getting anywhere, when I can have better experiences elsewhere?"

Sure the game isn't all bad.... but I've got Uncharted 2, Borderlands, Forza3 & Dragon Age (which will be 3x better than Demons Souls, I'm sure) coming soon.

Anyway... I'm not telling those of you who are playing and enjoy it, not to do so... great, good for you.... but this is more of a warning to others that havent thrown down the cash on it yet... steer clear for now, pick it up sometime when there is a gaming lull, and get it then at a much cheaper price... that way, if you don't like it, you haven't wasted $60 on it.... or rent it first.

honestly, unless you are really struggling with the game you wont need to grind like that. there are great grinding spots in the game which you encounter where you can gets 100s of thousands of souls in no time. I also just thought i would mention incase you werent aware. that being a male or female does affect the equipment you can use. Females can equip a bracer which gives extra XP, men can not. there are also different armor sets that each sex has that only they can use.

Sure the game isn't all bad.... but I've got Uncharted 2, Borderlands, Forza3 & Dragon Age (which will be 3x better than Demons Souls, I'm sure) coming soon.

Anyway... I'm not telling those of you who are playing and enjoy it, not to do so... great, good for you.... but this is more of a warning to others that havent thrown down the cash on it yet... steer clear for now, pick it up sometime when there is a gaming lull, and get it then at a much cheaper price... that way, if you don't like it, you haven't wasted $60 on it.... or rent it first.

i can start a new game of demon's souls and finish the entire thing in around 6 hours. game aint that hard :/

[QUOTE="Jandurin"][QUOTE="Animal-Mother"]regardless i could warp to lets say baleteria palace kill some enemies, go back to the nexus. Go back ot the palace and all the enemies will be back. Animal-Mother
right. so a bit of grinding :) Get to a certain point, spend souls, get to a further point, spend souls, safer that way.

but the problem is you spend a ton of souls leveling ( you level by adding 1 stat point, after levling a stat point the amount of souls for the next one goes up regardless), so when you go and come back you'll have to go through all the enemies again and again and again, and as far as a class goes ,I choose knight, strong, but gets to keep the speed of a theif while wearing armor. http://demonssouls.wikidot.com/demon-s-souls That may help you as well

Im a knight too haha. Not to mention he looks badass. I love when he pulls off a shield counter and one hit kills an enemy. So sweet.

maybe your just bad? We all knew demons souls was going to be punishing. Why even complain? Sure I played over and over and tried to defeat the tower knight and no avail. But the game isn't punishing because it's cheap, it's punishing because we suck.

zarshack

maybe so.... but I beat Ninja Gaiden 2 on Warrior without any problems.... People talked about how hard that was.... I didn't think this game would be so unforgiving. I will probably jsut give up on it.... there are far too many great games coming out, plus others I already own that I've hardly touched... I gotta ask myself "whats the point of wasting all this time on 1 game and not getting anywhere, when I can have better experiences elsewhere?"

women get an advantage? :oJandurin
for grinding yeah. a small one. I havent seen anything for men which boosts XP like the silver bracer does. but the amount of extra souls it gives isnt that much anyway. Nothing compared to the spell thirst or the ring of avarice. the different gear sets is a bit of a difference though. e.g. The set from old king doran can only be used by males. but then the set that drops from executioner Miralda can only be equipped by females.

i got the strategy guide thingie, hopefully it will be close to as good as online faqs.

anything will help!

Its meaty for a pack in strat guide, and from what I can tell gives you everything you need. Bestiary, walkthrough, etc. It was worth the extra six dollars.

it most certainly isnt. not if you go through and kill everything without dieing at all. once you figure out all the strats the game becomes very easy for you to get through and you wonder how you considered it to be hard before.
