Some people just love tough games. And its another category in the gaming universe. They could have made it alot easier for people like you who like short cuts but instead they made an effort designing the combat system in such a way. And so far we are getting a positive response from the majority. Ofcourse some people will always stand out.

Buh Buuh it's hard. Well, suck it up.

Next-Gen-Tec

Sounds punishingly hard. Wasting hours of your game time, and not accomplishing anything except realising the game is hard is bad. Worse that having to grind in a RPG.

you only have to grind if you want to grind. you can actually beat the game at the level you started with.

Wasting hours of your game time by not accomplishing anything? sounds more like an impatient gamer to me. I've played for maybe 6-7 hours and I have one boss remaining, however, I'm working on all my tendencies and upgrading my weapons as well.

also, the game isn't that hard, only at first because it's has such a unique combat system, that it doesn't really play like any other game.

Yeah, it was easy after dying about 50 times for me, too. :P

The Phalanx itself was a cake walk compared to getting through the level. IMO

Yeah, I'll agree with that, since Phalanx didn't even kill me once.

I finally got hold of the game although Gamestop almost ruined it for me. They claimed they didn't remember me calling them to reserve the game and only had two copies left that were for other people. I was like come on, it was three hours ago and how many people living in central Ohio have a broad Scots accent. Nobody forgets me lol. But anyways it is not easy at all. I'm playing as royal and could only get a couple of hours in. I'd forgot until my final try that there was a lock for the soul arrow and that made a huge difference. Got to the bridge with the dragon and decided to run across it only to be hacked to bits. Can't wait to get back into it tonight.

I feel like my copy of the game may be defected or something. In 1-1, running across the bridge to open the phalanx door the dragon never showed up and definitely never tried to kill me. Also, in the little section next to there where there are dragons guarding the purple shield, they were missing too. Weird huh.

[QUOTE="jakarai"][QUOTE="h575309"] Apparently killing that king affects your character/world tendency quite a bit. Apparently hes got a sweet sword though...h575309

In what area is the knight king?

This king were talking about is in 1-1. Old King Doran and drops a Demonbrandt, but I think hes hard. Not sure yet, I have to beat the first demon Phalanx first. Work is seriously hindering my playtime of this game.

Yes I know where he is now just looked in the guide. I think I am going to try and take him on tonight to see how tough he really is.

Wooo I finally beat the first boss. Man he is easy with magic, I wonder how I would do with no magic but anyways anyone know how to get the treasures guarded by the red dragon? Everytime I get close I die

jerkface96

on pure white tendency both the blue and red dragon will not appear on its nest, theres another trick go to the bridge and when you see him leaves his nest go run on the area with the treasures.. be careful not to get too closed on the blue dragon that thing will stomp you.. :P

hhaaha thats why, none of the dragons were there when i went! i dont even know how i have pure white tendecY!

This is one of those games where I think you need to read the strategy or a strategy guide. Otherwise you will find yourself with tons of items and you don't know how to use em.

This game is not frustrating at all. Hard, yeah, but when you die it's not frustrating. I finally completed Boletarian Palace last night, and it was such a satisfying feeling to defeat Phalanx and return to my body form.

Demon's Souls is an amazing game. If you "don't bother with" it, then you're really going to miss out on a very incredible experience.

I finally beat the knight boss last knight. I had two phantoms help me at first. Got his health to half way and the other two phantoms with me died. LOL I had enough health and felt I was strong enough to solo him with my turpentine to finish him off and I did. Got 8k souls in the process to. It felt good. Now I am running like marathons on him to level up because how easy he is. LOL

The Tower Knight in Boletarian Palace.(1-2) Guys is pretty easy to beat for me as a Knight with the right amount of health, help and Turpentine. I'll be able to solo him shortly.

I was in a party with this Royal last knight who was just destroying him with the arrows.

I chose knight and I found soloing him to be pretty manageable.

Didnt die and delt hard damage with turpentine.

Weapon upgrades help alot too.

Played about an hour as a hunter and it's awesome so far. I'm steadly progressing through the first level very, very slowly. :P I've already had death handed to me by a phantom with a halberd, but I'll get him back.

AGMing

Red eyes? i hate that guy. I always go there when i need some souls now, he's not too hard anymore. the old king is a different story. He scares me.

iv still not beat him :D not played the game for a month but im on my 3rd run through now and im determined to kill the old man. there are cheap tactics to take him out but i enjoy the challenge.

I just threw a death cloud on him and watched him slowly die.:PI really wanted his armour. I'm going to try using melee attacks more at some point since I got the North Regalia sword (apparently very powerful) recently in my third playthrough. I just need to build up some strength and dexterity.

Yeah the game doesn't make you die. You die all on your own. It wasn't the games fault you suck, it was your fault. The game doesn't do anything "cheap" because it's mainly how you play the game, and if you play it right, then you won't die.

It's not so much about skill but just figuring out what to do, but there's many ways to go about things. A couple of bosses can be tough, especially the flame lurker, but most are pretty easy once you work out a good tactic.

does anyone remember how many times they died during the firdt 20 hours of oblivion because your character is weak sauce?, it's the same with risen on the 360 as well, demon souls is the way an rpg should be, it makes you work hard in the beginning because your character is a novice adventurer, as you build up XP the game gets easier becausy you become better skilled, i like the sound of this 'challenge' looks like i have 2 reasons to look foreward to getting my ps3.

Risen and Demon's Souls have similar combat systems. They are both very similar to the Gothic series. It isn't so much that you're extremely weak, but more that the combat is so unfamiliar to the lot of console gamers. For people like myself who have been playing Gothic for years, the gameplay wasn't all that difficult. I mean, I've been taking down black phantoms for quite some time with little difficulty. I think thats probably why I have an S rank in the multiplayer 80%. *Shrugs* The bosses are also susceptible to simple MMO style thinking. I burned through the spider boss by whiping out my flame shield, hunkering down in front of the mages, and just took those fireballs like a true hoss while the mages stood right behind me spamming lightening bolt. :)

The Red Dragon moves to 1-2 once you beat the Phalanax. He's not the only one who moves either - the dredgling who was selling you weapons in 1-1 has now moved to 1-2. If you change your World Tendency to pure black, the Primeval Demons show up.

There's a degree of "knowing when to go" - for example, my first time in 2-1, I pushed on until I unlocked a "pulley platform". That pulley-platform takes you back to the start of the level, and hey, that's a good time to go trade in souls for stats and gear. - Now if I die is everything lost? No, because I have a shortcut unlocked that lets me go further in the level, I've upgraded all of my gear thanks to items i've found, and I've leveled up thanks to the Demon's Souls I've collected. Also, since the game is divided into waypoints (1-1, 1-2, 1-3, etc...) once you make it to the next waypoint you've made the level easier to navigate.
