Single-player

Doom's single player was described as having "badass demons, big effing guns, and moving really fast" as key principles, according to id Software executive producer Marty Stratton. The game will feature a large arsenal of weapons, which can be collected and freely switched by players throughout the game. Weapons such as the super shotgun and BFG 9000 will return. Additionally, melee weapons such as the chainsaw, which can cut enemies in half, are also featured. Many enemies from the original games like the Revenant, Mancubus, and Cyberdemon return as well, some redesigned.^[As the combat system of the game puts emphasis on momentum and speed, the game allows players to perform movements like sprinting and double-jumping. A combat system known as "push forward combat" is featured, which discourages players from taking cover behind obstacles or resting to regain health. Players instead collect health and armour pick-ups scattered throughout levels, or kill enemies to regain health. A new mechanic introduced in Doom is the melee execution system, similar to that of the popular PWAD Brutal Doom. When enough damage has been dealt to an enemy, the game will highlight it,^[] and allow the player to perform a melee takedown. id Software states that Doom's campaign will be more than 13 hours long and the "Ultra-Nightmare" difficulty level will have permadeath.

Multiplayer

The game's multiplayer is being developed in conjunction with Certain Affinity.^[Several multiplayer modes, such as traditional four-player deathmatch, Domination, Warpath, Freeze Tag, and Clan Arena are included in the game.^[13] Players can also use power-ups and teleporters in a multiplayer match. Players can pick-up a pentagram, one of the powerups featured, to transform into and fight as one of the demons featured in the game. The game will also include a built-in tool titled "Doom SnapMap" which allows players to construct custom maps, create new game modes and share them with the online community.^[At launch, the game features 9 maps.

The MP beta was fun.

Hopefully PC version will review different because both are totally different games. i mean last footage i posted was first ever PC gameplay that looks more faster than we have seen before.

I remember making a thread that Doom will run 1080p/60fps for both PS4 & Xbox One. I was gonna get Doom on PC anyways but not at launch though, I'll wait for a price drop. The beta however, was fun, just didn't get me hype to buy it at launch.

Im going with a 8/10 also. Its hard to tell, but from the looks, i think we might have a surprise in the single player mode. I might be getting this game later on. Would have loved to see a peek of a Boss fight.

HYPED!! So far it looks like a solid 8 possibly 9 if critics aren't too (uncharted 4 best game ever no game in any genre is good they all shit) responses

I think it will be fun, which is the most important part. Not really a critics game, suspect 7/10.

A 85/100 on my hype meter but I've a feeling will net 75% +/- 3% on a mix of the anti-Doom crowd hating on it for no other reason than to self congratulate themselves for being old school leet arena shooter fans because they ounce played Quake or Unreal Tournament, but even more devistating to its critical reception will simply be that nobody cares, Uncharted 4 will have just released and even reviewers will be racing to shit out a review to get back into some Uncharted 4 action.

I'm a bit surprised by the Doom hate. It's trying to do the retro shooter thing, worked for Wolfenstein, worked for Shadow Warrior, but why people singling out Doom? Shadow Warrior was really awesome no doubt, but Wolfenstein was VERY so-so yet never faced this shit

I hopever single player is good. Gonna rent it on xbox because I don't want to pay full price on pc. Will probably get a solid 7/10

I agree. the video i posted in OP at very end looks more faster than shadow warrior. shadow warrior has iron sights and sprint system, Doom doesnot and feel more pure Old school

Wolfenstien new order on other hand was trash. it was COD with robots. very slow paced shooter, iron sights, sprint system (where you cant shoot while sprint), forced stealth. I couldnot bother to finish TNO.

I'd like the campaign to be fun. Don't care about its multiplayer.

I recall old school fast paced shooter games like Painkiller and Shadow Warrior being well received here. Granted, neither game scored a 10, but hardly any games score a 10 here.

I really can't see anything hype-worthy in this game. I mean literally nothing. If you want a twitch shooter, go play Quake Arena or Unreal Tournament. They are much better anyway. Sure, Doom has new graphics and some gory scripted events, but... come on...

People are calling CoD generic, boring piece of crap, but then they get excited about this? I don't know if i should laugh or cry.

my point was that it looks even more boring than CoD, which is an achievement.

i enjoyed that gameplay in 1996 when Quake was released. who the hell can still get excited about that? Lack of iron sights makes the shooter magical to you? Holy crap, man.

I dont care for Multiplayer. thats not what Doom is about. I play FPS games for SP

i enjoy secrets and exploration too mate, but after playing games like Stalker, Crysis, Half-Life 2, Far Cry etc. it's just really hard for me to get excited about something like Doom anymore.

Considering Dooms looks like it does secrets and exploration better than those games (as also being linear) I dont think it matters but hell I just read that you think doom 2016 is generic. Which makes as much sense as a nun in a sex dungeon.
