@ghosts4ever: Ultimately regardless of a high concept opinion with experience well beyond that of the younger gamers, it's unfortantly irrelevant.

The modern gamer is a different breed, watching anime, playing Pokemon, all sorts of nonsense. The concept of old school - the true concept - is alien, foreboding and largely unwelcome, at this point a fond memory of a dying race.

@uninspiredcup: my biggest worry was level design and they surprisingly done it well. a big open level design we have lot to explore plus secrets too.

@mr_huggles_dog: Sort of like Rocky in Rocky III, he's a champion, but not a real one, Mickey has been setting up mock fights to give him a false sense if success. Clubber Lang on the other hand is in the background but a genuine fighter - who ultimately gives Rocky a harsh reality check.

In that same manner, gaming has become flabby, enriched with a sense of entitlement. Real FPS players sit largely in the background watching on with dismay at the mockery - just like Clubber Lang in that eye of the tiger bit.

7/10 is my guess.

@mr_huggles_dog: Much of this, as with Bethesda's Oblivion and Skyrim could have been salvaged with modding tool, instead due to console centric nature, a very limited tool is provided with complete disregard for the old vanguard.

Thankfully It seems the Epic have come back to the light, understanding the greatness of pc and what it can provide for the world.

That's more like it. Now I wish Bethesda had shown more videos like that than the ones they did. Would have made me a bit more excited than I currently am.

About the Steam reviews; it's up to 135 reviews now, with 92% positive. It's still early days though, and most of the reviews only have about 2 hours or less on the clock.

So I think I'll wait a little longer. I desperately hope it's good, though - let's just say I've been having some very specific game-related craving recently, and Doom might just fit the bill.

Reading neogaf threads from people who played it. i heard nothing but praise. many of people also surprise by level design that are that big and involve many secrets and exploration. claiming game is extremely fun.

That's reassuring some, I just read how we probably won't see many reviews on account Bethesda didn't send out review copies, plus they're launching on a Friday, a sign maybe they don't want the game press talking about it until Monday... or maybe just a bad marketing strategy to release it on Friday the 13th which if it is the case they obviously haven't been exploiting in their marketing, but it would make sense nonetheless as releasing on a Friday is just very odd. I hope there's a big surprise in this game and that's the reason they've been playing with their cards close to their chest. I'm picking it up the moment its available though, I've been excited for this for a while now, and of what I've seen I liked what's there.

6/10. Beta was kinda trash and dumb to smoke. I enjoyed it in a way, but the COD boyz will not.

1:50 minutes until I can buy, then judging on file size maybe 2 hours 20 minutes until it downloads for me. Should be able to fire up before midnight nonetheless.

Who was buying DOOM for the multiplayer anyways?

People that mostly enjoy MP? It's not difficult to to imagine at this age of gaming. I'm sure a lot of people made up their minds from the crappy beta.

I just came here to say I'm tired of the common practice of not letting reviewers have a copy until launch day, therefore delaying reviews by a few days. It shows you have no confidence in your product.

just finished the first 2 levels bloody fun as hell and amazingly old school be sur to change the settings to you can turn off the glow and other things makes the game funner

Well, I knew it would be a bad idea to get this game, and I got it anyway.

I haven't had time to play more than the prologue and the first level, but so far I can say that it is WAY more fun than the last Doom game.

Been at it for a couple of hours, it's a fun game. Feels like a 7 at this point, but I still have plenty more to see.

Only gripe is that it feels a bit slow. Like everything should be sped up about 25%. Though I was running through Brutal Doom right before I started this, so that could be why.

Also wish Doom didn't feel the need to tell me a story, but that goes for most games in general.

Yeah I figured it would eventually show up under the dexterity tab, just seems like player speed shouldn't be dictated by a level up in Doom.

No biggie though, I'm settling into the pace now.

I like it a lot.theres nothing wrong with the game at all looks and plays perfectly. A full campaign and decent enough multiplayer should nab it 9 but this is eightspot

Man, put about 2.5 hours into it so far, I'm really enjoying it. At first it was a little slow learning things but once I got use to the game's speed the action just flies, it's amazing. Then, as you get more powerful, they throw more at you. I'm loving. Gonna put a few more hours into it before I sleep, need to sleep in tomorrow anyways as I work the graveyard shift the next couple nights so it works out, I'll just stay up playing it until morning.

I really like the melee combat as a means of gaining needed health and to take advantage of enemy staggers. I also like how I can rely on the chainsaw as a means of ammo replenishment and not just a crutch to help take down difficult enemies, this game encourages a great deal of weapon juggling and mixing up the melee combat. I saw some people talking about speed, I saw another guy who made a video of the gameplay say that was what he focused on first, but damn this game feels plenty fast now I'm still getting used to its buttery smooth 60fps and fast paced action, and I was just playing SuperHot earlier today, totally different change of pace.

Curious too about NG+, do we have to find all the secret stuff all over again?

Also, what's the deal with reviews? I heard they didn't send out advanced copies, but some people had them early regardless and this isn't the normal it got shipped a day early kind of early. And the review embargo didn't lift at midnight it's going on until tomorrow afternoon for some reason, what's up with that? Game is awesome, they got nothing to hide.

Anyhow, already looking forward to doing a Ultraviolent playthrough, after the Hurt Me Plenty playthrough, of course.

Me and the wifey bought the game today but I won't be able to try it out until tonight when the kids have gone to sleep I'm so excited.

Most seem to enjoy it, don't know what to do now, Mirrors Edge comes out next month, ffffuuuuuuu********.

@lamprey263: haha yeah I played till 1am yesterday....I love the style of this game, they did a good job with the music as well , heart pounding. Combat is great and melee executions are something I wasn't expecting....damn work day now I cant wait to play more tonight lol

... but will it run on my gtx 680 lol. Time for an upgrade... if only they were free.

Game's pretty darn badass. Quite liking it.

Now that looks good. This is another example of stupid ass move from publishers by not showing version that plays a lot better and instead shoving slow ass gameplay footages down our throats.

PC gamers didnot even knew game would be that fast before the release of game as all we have seen are very slow paced footages over and over again. ID and bathesda should fire thier marketing department seriously.

on a bright side this is first time i have seen false marketing lead to a better product since ubisoft do false marketing showing bullshots finally end up having a terrible unoptimize game.

They Shadow of Mordor'd it, didn't send out review copies because they weren't sure it would review well (or that it would get lost in the Uncharted 4 hype train without a 90+ meta), but it seems like the game is really well made. TotalBiscuit was gushing about that game.

2/10 is my hype, this is the kind of game that i would pay $5 MAX for

Well, funny thing is, if they released a fast Doom video beforehand, then all the console gamers would complain when their product didn't play and look the same. It's happened with other games like Battlefield, I think.

It's unfortunate to see this being well received; it looks terrible.

this is best FPS since Half life 2. best Game of this generation by far.

I love how in doom within 10 second you have gun and shoot demon. no more lengthy sequence, cutscene before you enter battles. this is how you make FPS. this new Doom reviev not only ID software but FPS genre to glory. this new Doom become by far best game of this generation and best FPS of decade. I cant believe Doom even made shadow warrior 2 pale in comparision and i am the man who used to think Shadow warrior 2 looks better.

PS. I was watching some homefront revolution 30 minute gameplay. Holy crap!! that is single most boring thing i have ever seen. utterly generic, lame, slow, too many cutscenes, iron sights...
