I believe it is easily the most involving WRPG i have ever played, i am about 30 hours in now and am far more submirged into the world than i was with baulders gate, NWN, or any other wrpg
what say you?

=0 you still havent!!! i told you to get it days agoI'm not sure; I haven't played it yet. I expect I will soon though, considering all the positive reviews its getting.

No, that title belongs to PlaneScape Torment but Dragon Age is one the best titles I've played this gen.(Also one of the best RPGs I've played in the last 10 years)
By far one of the best I have played. The further I get into the game, the more a part of the world I feel. I am around 17 hours in and it just gets deeper, more dramatic and more epic with every hour. The corruption and politics of the world, the various personalities you encounter, mistrust from your own party members who will turn on you, the myriad of tough decisions that can be viewed as horrible from a certain viewpoint, but for the greater good from another, ect. The game is just a deep well of win. A masterpiece, really...dated graphics and all.
I have a hard time focusing on what to buy. I'm leaning towards L4D2 because I bought NWN2 and still haven't played it.
Yeah, the best WRPG ever and they don't sell you the full game unless you have the CE or something. I picked mine up off Steam and I received some content, but the good content is locked out.
Let's see. They limit bag space with no storage, I often need to drop stuff in order to loot something I want and get rid of the old stuff. I got a free DLC for armor; I need to be a lot higher level to use it so I need to carry it around. In that DLC you get two new abilities; a storage chest; a dungeon; and a new base.
The guy that gives the quest is at your camp and he always has that quest marker over his head so you always see him; I have even seen him in little cut scenes.
Anyway gamers, lick the games ass. It should have been knocked points just for day one DLC and certainly doesn't deserve game of the year.
Anybody remember a game called Icewind Dale? I think Bioware released it around the time Baldur's Gate II came out. Was it any good? I think there was a sequel to it as well. Never played it though.
You're joking right? Oblivion wasn't even a good Elder Scroll game.[QUOTE="jasonharris48"]

No i'm not why would i be Oblivion was amazing. Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean it was bad.

You're joking right? Oblivion wasn't even a good Elder Scroll game. Bah. Oblivion is an incredible game. You may think it's "cool" to bash Oblivion in favour of Morrowind along with the rest of your posse, but I've played both (on PC) and Oblivion simply blows Morrowind out of the water, even taking into account the generational gap. Both fully modded of course. On topic: No. KotOR is the best WRPG ever.[QUOTE="Sloan360"]

Oh look at you, you can use what i just said, aren't you clever. Accutally its ratings, GOTY titles, and fanbase make it good.

I just couldn't get into Oblivion. I'd played for 12 hours, tackle some of the doors and quickly grew bored out of my mind. Also what is this "posse" you speak of? I dislike a game out my own personal taste and I can give a rats ass what you and this so called posse thinks. So don't act like you know me.[QUOTE="Sloan360"]

Not a chance, there's just too many timeless gems from the '90s and early 2000s. With that said, it's probably one of the best RPG's I've played in recent years and I've been pretty impressed by what Bioware has put out.

I was mostly joking, but also making a reference to the gang of people with a blind devotion to Morrowind that attack anyone that praises Oblivion. It wasn't meant to be taken seriously. I don't think I'll ever refer to a 'posse' while being serious :P[QUOTE="Jimmi323"][QUOTE="jasonharris48"] You're joking right? Oblivion wasn't even a good Elder Scroll game.

I just couldn't enjoy it then again I was playing the 360 version. (So no mods for me haha). BTW sorry if I sounded like a dick in that earlier post.[QUOTE="Jimmi323"] Bah. Icewind Dale 1 & 2 have polar opposite ideas to BG2. It's BG2 without the exploration, or pre-determined party member backgrounds (you make the party of 6 in the start) and more focused on fighting only. While it's linear like D2, I heavily recommend them, IWD2 is the most beautiful 2.5D game out there. The only problem is if you get stuck, there is no going anywhere else to do side-quests and come back later. Your just left to fight that same fight through & through until you manage to pull through.Anybody remember a game called Icewind Dale? meh, stuff like DAO and Mass Effect jsut seems like JRPGs in disguise, for me anyway... they give the illusion of choice, id rather just go through a JRPG then sit there thinking my choices actually affect the game world and gameplay in any meaningful way... but thats just me, havent played DAO but if its anything like ME then count me out.

Hmm, interesting. I actually love both Baldur's Gate II and Diablo II, even though they play really differently. I'll definitely give this one a try. Thanks for the info! :D
It isn't like Mass Effect at all. Mass Effect was a action RPG title (a good one at that) and Dragon Age plays like most CRPGs and Kotor.meh, stuff like DAO and Mass Effect jsut seems like JRPGs in disguise, for me anyway... they give the illusion of choice, id rather just go through a JRPG then sit there thinking my choices actually affect the game world and gameplay in any meaningful way... but thats just me, havent played DAO but if its anything like ME then count me out.

You get a ton of chances to effect the outcome of some events in a big way.... not simply small dialogue choices, but things like skipping entire dungeons, being captured or not, which NPCs will do major things and so on.

Don't forget the game encourages to have mutiple play troughs to get the full experience. Not the best, but definitely in the top 10. This might change, but it's my favourite RPG of this generation so far.
Hell no, Oblivion and Mass effect are miles better but not "best ever" tho
aroxx_ab
IMO, Oblivion is miles worse than DA, while Mass Effect isn't in the same league with Dragon Age. Hell, they're not even the same genres. Mass Effect is a third person shooter with RPG elements.
I really like Dragon Age, but I like The Witcher much more. The Witcher has that "something". Probably much better story, plot etc.
From what I've played so far: it's up there. Best ever, though? Probably not.

The setting/atmosphere/NPC's/backstory alone put it head and shoulders above Oblivion, putting aside any gameplay

100% the best game in my opinion. the only thing i can see wrong with it is that they let both rouges and warriors use bows. I think they sould have created a seperate archer class instead of making it in to rouges and warriors because right now there isn't any one that i know that uses bows and i know alot of people that play this.XaiteevSo you had to bump this thread that is from Nov because of the Mass Effect 2 thread? Really?
