Dragon Fail 2 managed to completely destroy any interest I had in that IP. And I even read the books before that
1. No more anime style, BS combat with people jumping into the sky like super heroes and wieldieng swords that weight 50 pounds, and eviscerating people into gobs of body parts. REMOVE THIS BIOWARE!
2. Focus on story and exploration. NO MORE of the whole using one cave for the entire game!
3. Make each combat encounter into a tactical set piece. No more mobs of enemies being helicoptered dropped!
4. Give us MORE options when customizing our chatacter and our companions, NOT LESS!
Â
If this happens, I'll be a happy camper.
Game Informer is the worst mag ever put out by a store,Allicrombie
I'm curious on what you think is a good  video game magazine then.

I'm sorry Kinthalis, we cant do that, but have no worries our new Multiplayer modes with PvP and Capture the flag will make this game superior. :P

I don't know, used to like Nintendo Power. Sometimes I'll flip through PC Gamer at the bookstore.Looks like they outright ripped off the dragon from The Witcher 2. Also this game will suck. Please note this fact.
dragon age 2 killed this franchise for me, i will wait to read some reviews / friends play it, and they all have to agree it is the best thing ever for me to look at it and give bioware any kind of moneyÂ

I dont care what it is because in the end it wont be nearly as good as DA1, it will improve on some complaints from DA2, and the story/characters will be shallow, with a feel that doesnt really jive with the other games.
Ill buy it in 3 years when the game of year edition comes out once EA and bioware are finished milking it for DLC.
If they can go back to the DA1 roots I will check the game out.
DA2 was terrible though so I am very skeptical of this new game....

Â
It's a bit of a stereotype, but not by much. In many animes combat just becomes this ludicrous, ridiculous over the top, unrealistic mash of nonsense. Explosions going off, bodies being ripped apart, people jumping 100 feet in the air, jeebus, they're fighting with swords, not with mechs and nuclear weapons.
The combat in Dragon age was just so ridiculous. I mean sometimes you'd hit some poor mob with a crossbow and he'd EXPLODE into pieces. I'm not asking for a medieval combat simulator, but common!
Â
Thinking about it, it's not really anime, so much as Japanese games. Anime is just too broad in terms of style and content to really be representative of this style of crazy unrealistic combat, but many japanese games attune themselves to it.
Â
I remember seeing the exact same image with Dragon Age 2 saying to myself "you know what, this is consolized shit". Guess what? It was!

The game is going to be on consoles. We PC gamers need to get over it. What we don't need to get over is when design for crappy gamepads on an RPG have serious impact on the PC gameplay.
Dragon Age: Origins worked because it was a PC game, ported to consoles. Everythign worked well with mouse and keyboard, and the crappy consoles didin't hold back the PC version much. To the point where combat encoutners on PC were larger and more difficult, and then dumbed down and split into more, smaller encounters in order to accomodate the hardware and the gamepad (this si straight from the developer's mouth - though they didn't call it dumbing down).
I guess the million dollar question is - will they take the Draogn Age: Origin approach, or the Draogn Age 2 approach?

Dragon Age was based off Baldurs Gate a CRPG. People exploded in CRPG's. Please stop pretending to be a pc gamer, it's insulting to us real ones.

The only time I recall people exploding in CRPG's was in Baldur's gate, where some creatures could be criticalled bad enough to be insta gibbed. But those were early days of graphics - and it was clealry mean to be humorous.
Dragon Age 2 was dead serious about the nonsense, and it happend in EVERY fight, and sometimes in response to the most insanely silly things - I recall KICKING some enemies only to see them gibbed.
And I don't recall any CRPG's were the guy in plate armor jumped 100 feet int he air, accross a room as blue flames came out of the air as he swang his blade around.
You thought DA 2 was bad? then just wait until this one.
I am calling it right now this game will have multi player and micro transactions.
That's EA for you.

The vid looks sweet, i know it's all hype talk but hearing "Baldur's Gate" and "We listened to our fans" is quite reassuring to me.
I won't deny that DA2 was a disapointement BUT i did enjoy the combat fluidity and the character interaction.
After playing Dark/Demon souls and Dragon's Dogma i feel more optimistic when seeing a big character in your screen instead of the classic semi isometric 2d, so overall i'm quite excited for this game!!
Game Informer is the worst mag ever put out by a store,AllicrombieWhat? GI is the best video game magazine out there, scores are pretty consistent and they always have some great features.
Not being able to play other races basically means they don't know what the fvck they're doing anymore. Also voice acting for the main can prove quite cringe worthy when you take into consideration Bioware's dialogue quality... at least in Origins I didn't hear my character voice any of those lines - but let's leave that aside.Â
Since this is basically a continuation of DA2's plot, I kinda feel compelled to NOT play this. DA2 really annoyed the hell out of me. DA:Origins plot is extremely cliche and unoriginal, but at least had decent execution while DA2's plot didn't (it was more unique, but it wasn't conveyed in a decent manner).
But yeah... playing as humans is really boring. We won't get to explore some situations and intricacies of another race anymore, plus you can't be more badass than a Dwarf with a full beard.
edit. Read that they're planning multiple playable races. Well, at least one thing is going for it... now I only hope it doesn't stink as DA2 (so I will wait for more footage and stuff)
