Surely console's RPG can be good? You do have Kreia's picture on your avatar. Â

I'm pretty excited for those games, especially for Torment: Tides of Numenera.Â

The gameplay in both KOTOR games was dumbed down DnD for console babies. The writing and actual role playing is what saves KOTOR II (and not KOTOR).

I know i'm great and cookie but you asked you qeastion and got a factually based answer. The developers themselfs outright said it was DnD designed to be mainstream. That was the whole point of KOTOR.
Read everything here... http://commanderbishoujo.tumblr.com/ They promise all of that.1. No more anime style, BS combat with people jumping into the sky like super heroes and wieldieng swords that weight 50 pounds, and eviscerating people into gobs of body parts. REMOVE THIS BIOWARE!
2. Focus on story and exploration. NO MORE of the whole using one cave for the entire game!
3. Make each combat encounter into a tactical set piece. No more mobs of enemies being helicoptered dropped!
4. Give us MORE options when customizing our chatacter and our companions, NOT LESS!
Â
If this happens, I'll be a happy camper.

Everything they said about da2 was the complete opposite of what they are talking about with DAI.da2 They advertised: Humans only. Action centered combat. Only Kirkwall. Mage vs templer. Awesome button.
DAI THEY ADVERTISED:
More exploration orated. Mounts. You get to choose the race you want to play as. Demon invasion. civil ware everywhere. You are you're own boss. You get to judge everyone..Including the chantry. Frost bite. Tactical combate.
I enjoyed DAO and even though some hate DA2 I had fun with that as well though it did have flaws like out of this world lazyness with its dungions and any other inner area.
I don't really care. Dragon Age: Origins had horrendous pacing and they could've easily cut 10 hours of content from the game and nobody would've minded. The combat allowed you to do the same thing over and over and actually encouraged it. That's not fun. I never played DA2 but I think I would enjoy it. I'll probably pick it up sometime when it's around $5 or less.

For one DAO is much longer then 40 hours. Like around 100. So the comment still stands. But it sounds more like you just what a game you more control over where you go more and cuts to the chase.Well I'm interested in the game now. I won't be preordering it, but I really hope its a return to grace because real time with pause is so underused in games its criminal.

There is nothing wrong with wanting that. I can see why a person would look a dao and say"aaahhh, too much".Looks like they outright ripped off the dragon from The Witcher 2. Also this game will suck. Please note this fact.

That stuff was awesome in DA2. I hope they keep it for DA3.
I enjoyed Origins. I liked things from Dragon Age 2 but I mostly pushed through it to an unsatisfactory end. So with how much Bioware has talked up the fact they are listening to the fans' complaints about DA2 I'm optimistic.
Cautiously optimistic is a term that is very applicable with Inquisition.Â

Watching that video and reading previous info on this game seems like they are using it as a way to redeem themselves (Bioware) as I'm sure they know how much gamers laugh at them now a days.
Â
In some of that footage (with the horse) it almost seems to have a real open world, which is already several steps above the terrible DAII.
Â
Â
Lets hope they deliver and do infact redeem themselves.
Â
- Wants to make the action less frantic and more deliberate, returning to more tactics-oriented approach to encounters. Big return to party-based tactics
Â
- Part of that is slowing down speed of attacks, more important is designing enemies that force you to examine the battlefield and choose actions carefully
Â
- Battles veer away from button mashing toward a structure where observation and reaction take precedence
Â
- Instead of swarming enemies, your foes have specialized roles; work together and force you to size up the battlefield
Â
- You wont regularly see waves of new bad guys appearing out of nowhere to extend encounters
Â
- PC gamers getting an optimized version; PC actually is different, especially from a controls standpoint, trying to recapture the very tailored experience of DA:O on PC
Â
- Players arent just funneled down narrow corridors, the demo showed a bog, desert, a mountain range, all enormous and freely explored in third person.
Â
- Lots of hidden things to find, caves, dungeons, corpses, etc that create other unique sidequests
Â
- Trying to drive exploration- something that frankly, Bioware hasnt done in a while. In a way like Baldurs Gate, areas that existed in part just to spaces that you went to, but they had a story of their own.
Â
- Want to make sure there a sufficient number of caves in the game that are each unique, and optional. If you have a mage in your group, you can use a spell to reassemble a crumbled bridge to reach a new area.
Â
- Can also restore a ruined desert outpost into an Inquisition stronghold
Â
- So much ground to cover that mounted creatures are implemented
Â
- Monsters, and dragons for example, do not level up with you. Some are vastly more powerful, forcing you to come back later with proper experience
Â
- Some environmental destructibility
Â
- Warrior class has grappling chain that can pull enemies in close
Â
- Enemy scenario: Fighting a massive, armored dragon, you can target a leg, send warrior into melee range to bash off armor, rogue can sneak up and poison the exposed limb, dragon stumbles around allowing others to unleash spells etc
Â
- Weather effects can impact exploration, ex. Rainfall, desert sandstorms
Â
- Rainy weather can make areas muddy, slowing down your traversal/agility in combat, while sandstorms can inflict damage causing you to seek shelter
Â
Â
- Working hard to make large areas interesting; slopes, rocks, elevations and your character has tailored animations for overcoming each. Ease of movement key.
Â
- Morrigan is not a party member; not a cameo role though
Â
- Collect resources/materials and craft armor for you and all your party members; heavy emphasis on customization
Â
- Each armor retains a certain iconic look, but looks different on each character. They want the squadmates to each have an iconic look, but customize armor to tailor to each while retaining elements of that iconic look
Â
- 3 classes to choose from of course: Warrior, rogue, and mage
Â
- At least 3 races to choose from; when asked about Qunari, Mike Laidlaw says Do we go to four? I dont know. Definitely these are the safe bet.
Â
- Your racial choice colors your interactions with others; for example elves may be persecuted in some parts, but an enclave of elves is more likely to open up to one of their own.
Â
- Chantry/Templars dont respect your Inquisition, you have persuade them through your own means. You can come across a fortress and if refused entry, you can lay siege to it and break down the doors. What you do from there is your choice.
Â
- Hinting that you have a base of operations, maybe a castle to call your own
Â
- Dialogue wheel returns, but the team has focused a lot on making the selections accurate to what your character says. Theyve now added an optional addition to the wheel that gives you better idea of what to expectÂ

Footage reminded me of Witcher, but Witcher 3 doesnt have to worry about the limitations of previous gen consoles or EA forcing them to do things they dont want to.

1. With Frostbite under the hood, highly unlikely we'll see "anime style" in this game. In fact I'm looking forward to seeing how the engine brings Dagon Age's world to life :)
2. I'm with you on wanting to see lots more enviornments in the next installment.
3. yeah, helicopter dropped enemies need to go, lol. But to DA2's credit the cross class combos was a solid idea. That could return.
4. I know this was posted a while back. But Bioware is trying a new idea to allow party customization while at the same time keeping the visual and aesthetic theme for each character. Say you find a chest plate, it can be equipped on your own character or any party member you like. But it's appearance adapts to the style and theme of the character it's equipped on.
So if that character is modeled in a rennaisance style, or a pirate or french medival or what have you, the chest plate adapts to that given style. This way each character maintains their motif, but can still be customized, and moddified in stats. I'm intruigued by this approach, but I guess we gotta see how it's executed.

I won't deny that DA2 was a disapointement BUT i did enjoy the combat fluidity and the character interaction.
After playing Dark/Demon souls and Dragon's Dogma i feel more optimistic when seeing a big character in your screen instead of the classic semi isometric 2d, so overall i'm quite excited for this game!!
