My guess is we'll see Dreamcast games downloadable on the 360?PS3. I think they're looking WAY to much into this. VideoGameGuy
I think we'd see that happen on wii since we already see Sega Genesis games on the Virtual console. although dreamcast games wouldn't fit on the wii. We can dream though.
Something tells me this will be a handheld that will be compatible with the dreamcast one games and all other seaga systems and i have a feeling that microsoft is backing them also so expect downloadable games over a marketplace....and if microsoft was backing them expect to see xbox one games on there as well.......now that would be a handheld that i would buy.thermovie644064
O god, if that happened I would cry every night out of pure joy.
*Waits for Panzer_Zwei to shoot down this rumor and say again that Sega is not coming back to the console race.*Blue-SphereIt shouldn't take Panzer to see that there is nothing to this rumor. Just read my last post.

Yeah it makes alot of since backing sega with a dreamcast handheld would help Microsoft get in the handheld market and because it would have the dreamcast name on it i would do alot better out side the us then an xbox handheld.

That makes zero sense. SEGA's greatest source of income at the moment is the Nintendo DS. Abandoning their greatest sense of income to enter a handheld generation three years late, all the while alienating their greatest partner in Nintendo by aligning themselves with Microsoft (one of Nintendo's chief rivals) makes no sense. The Dreamcast name wouldn't do much at all as far as recognizability either, seeing as it was SEGA's biggest financial flop. It had less commercial games and a shorter lifespan than the Saturn, and they lost much more money on it too.How sweet it would be.
The Dreamcast, the Xbox and a Nintendo console cohexisting together in perfect harmony...
...once Sony drops out of the console business.:)
Cool!!!!
I doubt this is true. And the way sega's been developing recently, i hope it isn't. They need to get their games back on track before they try another consoleBuryMeGames like Virtua Fighter 5 and Sonic Rush Adventure are some of the best on their respective platforms. The quality of SEGA's games aren't what they once were, but they are still one of the top publishers around. In fact, they've been the only third party publisher (except Capcom) to make more than one decent Wii game. Sonic and the Secret Rings and Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz are two of the highest-rated third-party Wii games. Bleach Wii is rated above-average at Gamerankings, despite the ridiculous review from Gamespot. That's not bad at all for a licensed game. Mario and Sonic and Ghost Squad are averaging in the 7's, which is a hell of a lot higher than what most third-party Wii games get. Even The Golden Compass, another licensed game, is raking in 7's from sources like GamerInformer. Alien Syndrome is the only SEGA Wii game with a below-average score, and that's a PSP port.
I honestly dont see anything new that sega would bring to the table if they enterd the race again. Only hardcore fan sega fans would by that console and I doubt casuals even knew that sega has consoles in the past.
To me it would be a big waste of money and it will end up like the N-gage
SEGA doesn't have a lot of funds, even with SAMMY as their parent company. They're making a lot of profits, but they don't have Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft money. The fact that they are renewing the DREAMCAST name should tell you that a new console is not coming. SEGA creates original names for their consoles. Master System, Genesis/Mega Drive, Game Gear, Saturn, Dreamcast. No continuity. At the very most this is just a re-release of the Dreamcast, much like Pelican accessories re-released a newer version of the NES and SNES (the FC Game Console and the FC Twin). Even at that I doubt it. SmashBrosLegend
They already re-released it in Japan a few years ago, guess its our turn? either way I'd buy a new dreamcast hopefully bundled with some games for a good deal. Maybe update the modem to wifi or ethernet though.
Seeing as PS3 and XBOX 360 are all most exactly the same in hardware and share most of there games, I welcome a DC 2 cause atleast it would be something different next to the Wii and the 2 clones PS360. Thats assuming sega wouldn't copy every idea off Wii an 360 and make there own unique console instead..
The PS3 isnt doing too good, it needs a replacement such as the the Dreamcast 2... Not that is stands chance in hell of happening.. Where in gods name do you think Sega is getting the money from to make a new console after going bankrupt from the DC 1.
[QUOTE="majin_vegeta300"]Games are still being made for it in Japan, I think that's why they're holding on to it.
fastrozombies
lol do they really still make dreamcast games in japan, I still play mine. power stone 1+2 are amazing
there's a power stone 2?!?!?! i must get this game! i love power stone wars.

That could be why they are making lots of games for the DS to test the Market.
They could only fit in if someone else dropped out. And because of Microsoft 's and Sony's amazing financial backings they won't so that leaves Nintendo but because of recent success thats highly unlikely.meetroid8
What with Microsoft pumping more money into their next operating system Windows 7 and their other computer programs and the amount of lawsuits they are fighting off with regards Vista and XP, I could see Microsoft dropping out of the console market and supplying an os for a new console (like they did for the orignal dreamcast. Remember Windows CE powered many of the games for the original DC). Microsoft are also concentrating more and more on the os market, what with Linux eating away at its share of the market and since Intel processors are now used in Macs they are now competeing against Apple aswell. If someone does pull out of the console market it will be Microsoft more than either Sony or Nintendo.
I still play MSR (Metropolis Street Racer) on the dreamcast (Project Gotham Racer was based on it) and would love to see Sega release a new console and it is possible considering that they have the funds from the third-party devs they currently have, plus the money from the arcade machine market. But before we get our hopes up Sega would have to develop,or buy, an OS for any new console before they return to the console market

LOL, it would take alot more than that for Microsoft to become financially insecure.
Imagine if Shenmue III was a launch game.PelekotansDream
If that were the case, they would have my money on launch day.
