Price is the key point, lots of people dont want to fork out that much for a hand held, also it has that image of playing watered down ps2 wanabe games.
first of all, i just made a huge fool of myself, cuz i thought psp was gonna win, now, i seriously wanna know what is so good about the ds, i have both, i like PSP waay better, the ds is horibble, why do people like it so much.

And games, and control interface. I don't know about you, but I consider the games I play and the way I play them a rather big factor when it comes to gaming systems.
true. but can you fit your laptop in your pocket and listen to music on your way to somewhere. can you pull that laptop out, wait for it to start up and then load whatever you feel like the same way you can with a psp on a train?

it tries too hard to be a multimedia device. people want to play games, which psp is not very good at i think it goes something like psp has the same amount of AAA (or 1 less) as DS, psp has way more AA than DS. So it's a bit harsh to say the psp isn't very good at playing games.

People want a portable console that plays games (and plays them well), not another DVD player or Mp3 player because everyone already has access to one without a PSP.

I guess I"m not 'People' because I want an all-in-one device for all my on-the-go digital entertainment. PSP fulfills that for me

Clunky controls, poor battery life and long load times make the good games bad for a "portable" device.

The thing is that the majority of people buying PSPs are for their kids. Adults have this little thing called cellphones that meet and exceed the multimedia functionality the PSP possesses. Kinda ironic since adults are going more DS crazy than PSP crazy, don't you think?

The PSP is insanely breakable, is not small at all, is a system made for home use as per Sony's statements, contains games that you can play on a PS2, is more expensive than a PS2 and is based on disc media, which cuts away at time spent to play a game due to loading.

No, PSP has music, movies, etc, and it JUST happens to play games. I can tell you only care about which has better graphics.

However what you are stating is merely subjective. Can't honestly give solid advice on something based on an opinion, am I right? You can't claim people will have more fun with a PSP when your expectations are completely different from everybody elses.

No. I own a DS and I'm currently borrowing my friends PSP. The controls are akward (the buttons are too high and don't get me started on the analogue nub), the load times are bad, and the games are largely derivative of games on the PS2. GTA: LCS? GTA: VCS? Pathetic compared to GTA 3 and Vice City. MGS: PO? Nowhere near as good as MGS3. I have right now, at my disposal a DS and a PSP, and I'm having much more fun with the DS. Then again, after that "GBA-SNES graphics" comment, I don't think you know anything about the DS.

1) You're not "people" you're a "person". 2) So many different products have on-the-go digital entertainment these days. Yes, PSP has that, but DS has the real on-the-go gaming. Gaming is the one thing that the PSP can't do as well as the DS can. I know more people who use PSP as a media device than as a gaming handheld. I have friends who have DSs and enjoy playing the games on it.  Â

oh shoot, im getting slayed on this topic, never should've made it, and im also running out of things to say. i have three games for ds... splinter cell, aspalt urban, and sims 2, and none of them are good, i have also had other gmes, and i gotta admit, that mario 64 for ds showed what dds could do.
explain this... psp is for targeted for big people and ds for children, but even adults are buying ds"s, am i right. Sony has to start improving PSP.
