It took 12 years and honestly how can anyone be hyping this at all? I'm a Duke fan been one since the beginning 2D games and I know this game isn't as great as it could have been 5-6 years ago but considering its been basically dragged through the mud and crapped on for 12 years yeah I'm not surprised.
Depends on the hype. Haven't seen any official hype thread so don't know. No matters how bad it is, if it wasn't hyped, it can't flop (still terrible, but not a flop). As to Infamous 2, it is only a flop on GS. To really get flop of the year, you have to be a universal flop, not just here.
For me its Infamous 2 by a mile. An AAA hyped game getting 7.5 vs a game with 0 hype (maybe an A at best)
EDIT in response to seeing some people saying flop of the decade, I still think Spore is the biggest flop this gen. I thought that game would be life changing and instead we got ... well Spore :P

I always thought "flop" meant it sold poorly, not that it got a good score or not.

Flop just means that it didn't make the hype expected of it, just by gamespots score. So in theory a game could be hyped AAAA (10) and get 9.5 and GOTY and still be considered a flop... its not really a reflection on how good a game is

(actually I'd prob give it a 7 or an 8 so thats about right ... the bits they added to the film, not in the graphic novel, didn't really work very well)
I don't know. I expected it to score in the mid-70s range, and the PC version lived up to that. The console versions have flopped pretty badly, though.
It might be dated....but by god it loves to take the mickey out of its developement cycle.Seriously its funny and crude with average gameplay, what else does one expect from Duke tbh.
Possibly one of my fav's in a while the humour is making me laugh and the fact it manages to get a quick whip in bout itself early is brilliant.
I finished it yesterday, and as a HUGE Duke Nukem 3D fan, it's easy to state that this is not the Duke as we remembered him. Instead of the game being a middle finger to every pretentious FPS of today, it tries to emulate it to a full extent. My only gripe is that the game we saw in the 2001 Trailer will never be released. Almost nothing in that trailer made it into the final DNF game, and the whole concept of those ailens is FAAAAAR superior than the lackluster concept they had in the finished product. It was even colourful compared to DNF. Why 3D Realms never settled with that game, is a shame. It robbed us from what looked to be an amazing Duke game and a possible sequel.
