They will win this year's E3 guaranteed. Do you REALLY think Kutaragi was "planning" to retire for awhile? I don't. They "outed" him and he is gone. Sony recognizes that Kutaragi made a major misstep. Sony is familiar with "failed" products. They are pros at making a comeback. Betamax, UMDs, you name it. Sony ALWAYS finds a way to turn it around. Now, whether they actually turn it around with the PS3 is another question entirely.
They might. However, even if they don't, you can count on this one thing....Sony will obliterate the competition this year at E3. And this is coming from an anti-Sony guy.Same thing happened to Nintendo. They were laughed and scoffed at and basically looked at as no competition. Then E306 came, and everyone wanted to try out the Wii. Now, Nintendo is the one laughing. However, Nintendo is returning to its former self of "arrogance". This is not good. Thishas only hurt Nintendo in the past and will do the same soon.
Microsoft is "arrogant" about Halo 3 being the be all and end all of games, and won't prepare as hard as Sony will. Microsoft is getting more and more flack about the 3 red lights of death and other malfunctions of the 360. Peter Moore was one of the leads of the "Dreamcast team". I'm very iffy about Microsoft's E3 at this point...
Sony will win for sure this year. Everything is a pendulum in the videogame industry. And this is especially true of companies that have been around for awhile. Sony has been around for awhile. They have been failing lately and failing hard with the PS3. They know that SOMETHING has to be done.
And, even if PS3 is not saved, they will have the best E3 this year by far. It may be only hype or BS CGI "fake" video sequences, but it will still be "better" than Nintendo and Microsoft. Remember, Sony HAS TO DO SOMETHING AND THEIR NECKS ARE ON THE LINE. Also, when a company has a really bad E3 one year, then they usually have a great E3 the next year. It is just the way it always works....
