You're spinning like the others, show me an EA game better looking than Geow,RE5,Alan Wake,Forza 3,LP2.VitunLehmat
UHmmm...no. You, sir, are the one who is spinning. That is clear by how you are trying to change the subject to YOUR opinion of what looks good visually. This is doubly irrelevent considering graphics aren't the only thing about consoles that can suck up power. Phsyics, AI, particle effects, draw distance, number of enemies on screen at once, etc are all much less noticeable that textures, polygons and shaders and yet suck up just as much processor power if not more.
However, the fact remains that I am arguing about what is being said. I am very much on topic and NOT spinning. It is everyone else who is spinning by nitpicking, changing the subject, relying on their own opinion as fact, etc.
Further, while everyone is busy "spinning" what they think "maxed out" really secretly means in the minds of developers vs the minds of fanboys...I will add my own interpretation. Maxed out means the console is no longer going to see advancement in the sense of doing MORE. However, that doesn't mean they can make very subtle trade offs to create the illusion of more power. For example, maybe they reduce draw distance, number of effects, and/or number of enemies on screen in order to up lighting effects and texturing. Technically, that would make the game look VISUALLY better, and yet all they did was shift resources...NOT add more resources.
There are always ways/tricks to make games look better for the life of a console. But at some point, every console will hit a wall. I would argue that EA saying the PS3 has more power, means they can still ADD more to games without having to make that trade off yet. Does this mean graphics will keep improving by leaps and bounds? I don't know. Maybe it just means better lighting, more realistic particle effects for things like fire or smoke or whatever. Maybe it just means more physics calculations, which is something we would never really SEE, but it still exists and sucks up a lot of processor power.
There are a million different ways to explain WHAT EA is saying and yet still explain why consoles keep improving.
What is EXTREMELY ironic is how willing and eagre the lemmings are to now argue about how all consoles "have teh hidden powah!" Gee, haven't they been mocking Sony about that for years now, despite the PS2 seeing definite improvements throughout its lifespan, andacting as if the PS3 was maxed out instantly? Now suddenly the 360 has hidden power waiting to be tapped by not-lazy developers? Man, how quickly this forum flip-flops.
