Square will remake more games?
Seriously remaking is popular now-a-days. They remade Halloween, now they're remaking Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th. Hell even the new Batman movies (as amazing as they are) are some sort of remake.

Square will eventually remake FF7, but they'll probably do it when they are in a tight spot, knowing that fanboys will eat it up.
Square doesn't have values, they will remake any game they have ever made, numerous times in order to turn a profit.

An FFVII Remake will only further reinforce this BS that they are all ready currently doing. Do you guys really want more of this?
Remakes are a good thing. They show that video game companies can stand the test of time. To the point where there are entire legions of people who haven't played some of your classic games. Hell, some of them weren't even born when the games came out.
Square has a deep roster they can pull into. I view these remakes the same way I view retro Jordans: theres nothing bad about it. I was like 1 year old when the first Jordans came out. If I tried to find an original pair, they would be in horrible horrible condition. But, if they were new, these would still be a tight pair of shoes. Why deny me access to nice shoes just because i'm younger than the next man?
To the people who remember the old games and don't want them again... there is zero impact. Square still makes the sequels (they've always made sequels, if you hate that then you hate square and you've always hated square... in fact you hate most rpg companies) and original titles that everyone likes. They satify the retro gamer, the current gamer who only looks forward and the current gamer who also looks at the past.
I never had a Playstation, but I remember how major FF7 was when it came out. People who didn't even play RPGs purcahsed that game. If they re-released it, i'd buy it assuming I had the console it came out on.

did you make that yourself?
All of the above is fanboy talk. A remake is not going to be a system seller. It would have to be revolutionary.
The more I read that blog the more I realized how damaging FF13 going multiplat was.......it's driven cows insane.

That's why I said SOME SORT OF REMAKE. I didn't directly call it a remake. Nice reading skills. Id call the new Batman movies a reboot seeing as they went back to the beginning to start over.
that makes no sense though. they arent any kind of remake at all, they are entirely new moviesReboot. Thats what they are. Makes perfect sense.

Thats my argument for the Wii. Why do people concentrate on the bad games where there are tons of good games on the system? I'm sure that because of its success, the PS2 probably has way more crappy 72 or lower rating on gamerankings and metacritic than it does well rated games. But nobody even thinks about it because its silly to judge a system off of its bad games (which shouldn't be made or purchased) rather than its good games (which are the only games people should be buying).

Reboot. Thats what they are. Makes perfect sense. 6matt6Boy I sure loved Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. It was a great remake. Star Wars Episode III was a really good remake too.

So you're willing to be 4 versions of games such as Final Fantasy I, Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy IV, two copies of Chrono Trigger, a second copy of Star Ocean 2 ect?
Sorry I'm not wasting my money on buying the same games over and over no matter how good they are. In the end they are the same games I've played generations and generations ago.
The VC/XBLA/PSN is there for a reason. SE should just move their games there instead of pooling their resources and spreading themselves out thinner then they already are.

in all honesty, FF III on the DS was the first SE game I've ever played. so no, I don't mind it.
dang, you have a lot of quality RPGs to catch up on!Square will remake more games?

The newest Halloween was more a prequel then anything. And the new Batman movies are considered reboots.
Theres like 20+ games with an 80 rating or above. Wii runs AAAe if you count PC as a console, if you don't it's got as many as the PS3. How many Wii gamers own more than 20 games? You're not going to run out of good games to buy until a combination of things happen:
1) All Wii software development stops and no more titles, (good or bad are made)
2) You will need to own 20+ Wii games in order to run out of "good" ones to buy. Isn't the attach rate like 4.x?
Mario Galaxy, Zelda, Metroid, Smash Brothers, No More Heroes, Zack and Wiki, COD... thats not even all high rated Wii games, but its already more titles than the average Wii owner owns.

FFIII on DS was America's first crack at the game. I don't mind remakes of a game that were previously not released for a region or localized.

i dont have a problem with seeing a new take on an older game though. FFIV on DS is amazing.[QUOTE="6matt6"]Square will remake more games?

Well yeah Rob Zombie called it a 're-imagining' or whatever. He can call it whatever he wishes. The movie was still a terrible atrocity.

What else do you think will happen if FF7 got remade?_Parky_
IMO VII is a terrible game. I still can't understand (or stand) the legions of fans this game has. I wouldn't mind it if they remade VI though. That I would buy.

LMAO. You act like Square will force you to buy 100 version of Final Fantasy 1. Its your money. They aren't making these for people who have already played the game, beaten it and are tired of it. They make them for people who never played them in the past.
Plus, Square still makes new games. You list Kingdom Hearts on your chart, but that was an original PS2 series thats Square has supported up to a number 3. Sequels aren't bad. You should be happy. I love Bio-Ware and they down right refuse to do a sequel to games that they make. KOTOR got game of the year on sites and sold well. Jade Empire will probably never ever get a sequel. Mass Effect 2... like 4 years away at the earliest. I wish every company was like Square because i'd be playing:
Conker's Bad Fur Day 2, Sonic 4, Jet Force Gemini 2, Perfect Dark 2, Streets of Rage 4, Chrono Trigger 3 (wtf are they waiting for), Kotor 3, non-crappy Kotor 2, Jet Set Radio Future 2, Shenmue 3, etc and a ton of other games that i've just had to resign myself to the fact that despite the original being good and selling well, these game worlds are dead, never to be seen again.
Everyone swears up and down that thats an awesome thing. But it isn't. It really isn't. Its a bandwagon phrase thats based off of no type of reality at all.
Are they really though? Would a PS3 remake of FFI or II or III really be the same game? It might be the same story but the experience as a whole is different.DireToad
Same characters, same story, same gameplay. Its a remake. You can't exactly alter it by any signifcant means. Plus a JRPGS main draw is a story.

Where are my Sequels? Where is my Vagrant Story 2? Chrono 3? ect? I'm not getting sequels I'm getting spinoffs.
You wish every company was like Square? Releasing more games from generations prior generations then sequels? More spinoffs currently then Mario, Megaman, and Sonic combined?
Don't even call them Square. They are not Square. They are Square Enix.

Their idea of system seller is laughable. FF13 would be a system seller. Regardless of FFVII looking good, it's still the same game. There are not surprises and that is what made me love that game. Playing it over with a graphics upgrade would be cool, but I am not going to pay $460 to do it......that is essentially what they are saying people would be willing to pay to play that game.

If I didn't, I would not feel I needed the PS3 just for that game. I would take a new epic story over an old epic story, but that is me.
Too bad you couldn't go back in time to make a poll thread to ask if PS3 owners would like to have FFVII remake or FF13 exclusive.......there is no doubt in my mind it would have been FF13 because it's a new game. New games will sell a console better than an 15 year old game.

SE will see that it can actually survive soley by playing off of the nostalgia of its fans and cease making original IPs and titles.Verge_6
The Slurpers will continue to suck down any and everything Square Enix feeds to them. Its what they do. We shouldn't be encouraging this.
