EGM scores NG:Sigma 8.7!! (9,9,8) flop?

It's not one thread made by a cow, it's usually an official hype thread made by CaseyWegner (a moderator). There is a poll, and every user on Gamespot can vote for what ranking they think the game will get. The thread is then used as the measure of hype for the game amongst Gamespot users, and if the final review is lower than the level of hype in the official hype thread, the game is a flop.

 That's how it works and isn't going to change. If you don't like it or don't want to play by the rules, leave.

It's a remake of a re-release of a last gen game.  It's third-generation rehash.

I have the magazine and the scores are not averaged. It's just three reviewers opinions on a game. 2 AAA 1 AA I can definitely see Sigma getting an AA here but that won't stop me from buying a great game.Ibacai

It's because the game was predicted to be AAA (9.0 or higher) in the official hype thread. Since the first reviews are coming in and are below that prediction, it's considered a "flop"

We all know that in the real world, that 80+% is excellent. However, it all adds to the fun HERE and is part of the big theatre of System Wars. You don't hear people referring to cows, lemmings or sheep in real life either in the same way they do here.

Practically all the people here are not discouraged by the whole 'flop' thing on a game they like the look of, it's just a game and in all fairness a bit of fun in System Wars.

The wisest words ever written in my opnion: 'Not everything you read is to be taken seriously'.

Review points summarized:

PRO:
- Still looks very good
- Combat is just as good, and new weapons are awesome
- Still the same brilliant game that NGB was

CON:
- Weird graphical glitches like tearing and other sync issues
- Loads at odd times, even during combat
- Camera requires too much babysitting
- Tilt controls are worthless and tacked on

Also, Shane and Bryan disagreed on the new content. Shane called the Rachael stages "An obscenely violent change of pace." Bryan said "I'm not impressed. The Rachael sections fel like an afterthought..."

Yeah, 8.75 average sounds about right. Still can't believe it got hyped AAA.

 No is wasnt one cow. NG has been used for ownage and has been in alot of cows lits for Up and coming games for 2007. 

Its system wars, get over it.

If you dont want to go by the rules then dont bother going into the whole lemmings bla blah thing.

If you dont like the rules then just dont bother coming into system wars. These rules were set up for ownage of all fanboys who are foolish enough to hype games AAA.

If a game doesnt make AAA it only matters in system wars . But to try to fight against the nature of system wars is right down foolish.

Either way I am not suprised with that kind of score, seems to have gotten what it deserved I guess. Wait for the other reviews though because people will have obviously different opinions.DSgamer64

I don't see how lemmings can usurp the common sentiment for the last 6 months in 2 days time.  nobody has questioned this games exclusivity until yesterday.  are the lemmings ultimately afraid the Cows will get their first AAA?  wanna keep them on the mat or something?

Remakes and/or ports have never counted as exclusives here. 

what do youe xpect? It's a game that's already been remade before. This is the third evrsion of essentially the same game that has been released here

 RE4 is the same thing. They both deserve AA at best

2 AAA scores and  1 AA sounds pretty damn good to me!;)  And this is a 3 year old game.

NGS developer said flat out that it is not a port.  Sure it has alot of the same level structure but alot has been added and the code had to be written for the PS3 Cell processor, so its not a PORT, its a redux of NGB with new levels, characters, weapons, graphics, bosses, etc. 

good - it should be a flop. people shouldn't stand for a re-skinned version of an older game, i don't care if it was a 'few' new levels, it's still a rip-off.3picuri3

it's known here that it's not a port. it's just still the same game but with better graphics and some new content added. things like that have never been considered a new, seperate game here.

The problem with these "Rules" is that any fool can go into that thread and vote it whatever they want. Why wouldn't a bunch of lemmings, sheep, cows hype every single game for opposing systems AAA so any game that falls under 9 is a flop. It isn't like GS codes everyone as either a cow, lemming or sheep by entering a serial number to keep the voting on the level. Don't quote stupid rules or tell people to leave. I personally could care less about all this flop nonsense and I visit this site to enjoy all of the bickering between people over nothing. 8.whatever is a good score. The only thing I don't agree with is that they should score this as a GAME and how it compares to other games on the system like the guidelines say. Not everyone owned an XBOX let alone this game.
