I love how Eurogamer reviewed it without actually knowing what the story was about.

It really speaks volumes about their reviewing quality.

ShadowMoses900

lol yep, that is pretty silly.

My beef with Eurogamer is that they do those stupid Lens of Truth comparisons with Digital Foundry, everyone in their right mind knows the differences are too minimal to even be noticed or care about, but they do it just to get fanboys to their site for ad revenue hits. It just makes them look unprofessional IMO.

Oh dear. Digital Foundry =/= Lens of Truth, and their comparisons are lot more technical based, where they actually discuss the engine/technologies being used. It's interesting.

If a game has a story, it should be critiqued.

1. You mean for doing something that most Japanese developers do? Yeah, okay, buddy.

2. So you're speaking out of ignorance.

3. As I stated in my reply to #1, Japanese developers usually don't sub their games. Which is where these things called publishers step in. They do the subbing and dubbing, not developers.

minh800

1. Again, they're stupid, just becasue you do something alot does not mean it's intelligent.

2. Yup

3. So then the Publisher is stupid then.

I don't want to drag this out but... seriously? There isn't much incentive for Japanese developers or publishers to put English subs in their games if they're not being published in English speaking nations. There aren't many English only speaking importers out there. It would be a waste of money and time for them to do that. That would be stupid.

The game is coming out in the west, right? If so then it SHOULD have a translation. If not, then why did that Eurogamer bloke review it and why does it matter what he thinks of it if 70% of us here won't play it?

It is BEING translated for the WESTERN release. What is so hard to understand about that? You don't see many Western games show up with Japanese subtitles before they're published in Japan, do you? And we will be playing it. Well, I will because I'm buying a Vita for this.

Why? Not one person so far has said the storyline's bad or anything close to the stereotypical stories that are in many Japanese games.

If a game has a story, it should be critiqued.

If the story negatively affects gameplay? Fine. But on an equal level with gameplay (the fundamental thing in every game), no.

So Mario has the wost stories I have ever heard should it be rated 5 based on the story ? No the story is just to drive the Gameplay, who cares about a plumber saving a princess for the hundredth time, it's the Gameplay that makes Mario games great.

Then there's absolutely no reason to waste your time with the story if everyone's gonna ignore it.

" No English subtitles in any of the available versions." That is what you said. So I originally said what if he REVIEWED a Early stage translation version, or had a Story guide (Like what Total Biscuit recieved for FF XIII-2). Now your saying there will be an English dub. But at the same time slam the Eurogamer reviewer for not knowing Japansese, even though he MAY have a translation, or a reviewer guide.

There's no indication the reviewer used any of that.

I'm sure if he did, he would have stated that he did.

The reviewer specifically states that he doesn't know anything about the story. :?

Doesn't answer my question though. And if he doesn't know the story, and still gives it a 9 on gameplay is that not good?

He didn't have either. He didn't understand the story whatsoever, he said as much. Yes, there will be an English dub. That has no bearing on him reviewing a game with a story he couldn't and didn't understand.
