@MirkoS77: I should have said something with a functional purpose.
That's your opinion. Style of consoles is purely based on taste, which can be different for anyone. There is no right, or wrong. I think it's ugly, you like it. You think consoles by Microsoft were ugly, I actually think the Xbox One was beautifully minimal (not as in small).
No a big % of it to is based on blind fanboysm.
In fact there is nothing wrong with that PS4 is not ugly hell i think it look much better than the fat PS3,but fact is almost every one saying it is ugly are lemmings.

Oh the irony
The funny thing is you don't even see it yourself
@ronvalencia: There was a white ps4 as well, but those are optional colors. The Bone S has its Fisher Priceness standard.
The white PS3 and white Xbox One S is similar.
Both consoles are "Fisher Priceness" compared to my brushed aluminum touch screen laptop and "Fractal Design Define" case tower PC (with 980 Ti GPU).
Its look doesn't bother me, I already have my OG PS4 which will do. I'm more interested in the upgraded PS4, what features it has? is it only for 4k or is Sony planning to reintroduce Backwards Compatibility to it? I have said before that I'm not a fan of this upgrade but will reconsider if the console has more to it than 4k.
@Shewgenja: I'd be surprised if Sony will price the Slim at $299.99 given it doesn't have a UHD Blu-ray player.
Neo will have the UHD player. PS4 slim is for mass market. Keep in mind, Sony actually cut production of the original PS4 so early, Japan has actually started running out of stock. The reason why the PS4 Slim leaked like it has is because they actually moved stock to shipping channels before the announcement.
@Shewgenja: That's why I think the PS4 Slim will be priced sub $299.99. Possibly $249.99 - $279.99. Also, I'm guessing it will be given a "available now" announcement come Sept 7.
I fully suspect a cheaper price/bundle for the actual holiday season. They won't make it 250 out the gate. That's what I am hearing, anyway.

Still, I don't see how they can price the PS4 Slim the same as the XB1 S if it doesn't have a UHD Blu-ray player. People will see the difference in features and choose the XB1 S if exclusives aren't important to them.

If that consumer thinks features are more important than exclusives, then XBox is for them. I think that if someone is shelling out well over a grand for a 4K TV, the price of a Neo is not going to break the game. Expect Sony to be banging the 4K gong hard and fast when they reveal the Neo. They do not want a cheap slim version cannibalizing that market position.
@Shewgenja: But you can't justify the same price because of exclusives. Price should reflect value and objectively you're gettling less features on the PS4 Slim compared to the XB1 S (4K Blu-ray and HDR).
Whoah there, not so fast. Economics dictates that the market dictates equilibrium and value is a psychological thing. Xbox has needed to consistently stay at a lower price than the PS4 in order to even remain partially relevant. In short, the XBox doesn't dictate shit this gen, which is why it has had to leverage PC gaming to even appeal to publishers at this point.
You're getting it backwards. Sony is going to have the value proposition to 1080p HDTV owners by having a very scalable entry model by purposefully not including a high priced drive. If it is a race to the bottom dollar that MS wants, it's one that they will get and Sony is not in the position MS is to set liquid assets on fire. Transversely, by springing the Scorpio chicken from its coop at E3 the way they did, Sony simply needs to carry the line more or less. PS4K needs to be legit and it needs to hit the ground running. By the time Scorpio hits the shelves, Neo will be ready for a price drop. By E3 2018 or 2019, the lights will be out in terms of Sony leveraging a PS4 Ultra Slim WITH your UHD drive and a Neo 2 revision.
The only justification for the XBone S is that it is the cheapest UHD BluRay player on the market. That does not make it a quality console or even in a position to scale its price as well down the line as what Sony has for a road map with the PS4. The road to 2021 is an arduous one. MS is talking a real good game about generationless consoles, but that doesn't work very well when the competition already has a leg up on the market and is able to leverage that position against them at every turn. It doesn't work for appealing to developers and publishers for exclusives. It doesn't work for appealing to consumers that only exist in theory.. like the ones who own 4K TVs in the year 2016 but balk at paying an extra hundred or so for a console that will make full use of it. We are more than open to revisit this conversation come time for the Scorpio to launch and what MS has in store for boosting the value proposition between now and then. That's the only wiggle room I can give you.
Does this console have 4k?
And I thought the neo was coming out this holiday season? did M$ send sony back to the drawing board after the scorpio specs completely destroyed neo?
Poor sony, always adjusting their strategies to M$ despite winning the console war.
@Shewgenja: There should always be a race to hit that mainstream market price point which is like $250 and lower. Even with PS4 outselling the XB1 its always important to keep the momentum going by lowering the price when possible and better yet by undercutting the competition. A barebones PS4 at $249.99 looks more appealing than a barebones PS4 at the same price as the more feature rich Xbox One S.
I can guarantee that the Xbox One S will outsell the PS4 Slim on a monthly basis in America at the same price.

Ya, they are definitely hurting right now...

That is an awfully weighted statement. Comparing apples to oranges, as the Neo can and will supplant any lost sales of the Slim to the XBone S. All of that being said, I do not share that faith with you. The non-4K TV owning market is much larger and the PS4 is the better product for that market and has been so for 3 years.
I'll take it a step further. MS should be shaking in their boots that Sony has designed a product that can match their fire sales almost 1:1 for the rest of the generation and leverage its installed base to have a software advantage. In a matter of weeks, all the bases are covered.
Is it just me or does Sony always make their 'slim' models of consoles with cheaper materials? The original PS3, PS4, and Vita just looked and felt so much better.
On the contrary, Microsoft's console refreshes are even more premium and cost more.
Xbox One S > Xbox One
PS4 fat > PS4 slim
@FrozenLiquid: not only that Sony always seem to remove features too. Kinda makes you wonder what features did they remove this time around.
Boy, are you in for an upset. Digital audio is literally the only hardware or software feature missing.
@chikenfriedrice:
@chikenfriedrice: Its a freaking console, not your future lover.
So? It's in my house, in my entertainment center. I'm not trying to **** it but I would like it to look nice with my furniture and design. What do you care?
Kinda creepy dude. @emgesp I am sure lover is not in his Vocabulary. Besides, still plays games at 30fps and no 4K video or nothing. Not even worth mentioning imo.

Who the hell are you? And what are you talking about?
It's all of those things... which classes it as awful I think. Sony can do much better than that.
Lemmings are pathetic they bought a console 3 years ago that looked like a freaking 80´s VCR and was weak as hell with a HUGE power brick and some how the slim PS4 look bad..hahahahahaa
99% of the people downplaying the looks of this machine here are confirmed Lemmings who basically hate anything PS.
Hmm that's quite ugly, but so was every console they every made. I did like the PSP though.
Case in point.
Yeah because MS consoles have being a beauty...lol
The first one was huge with a horrible controller that only NBA players would feel at home with and never got a re design the 360 was huge and got one 5 years into the generation, and the xbox one look like an 80´s VCR..
This model look much better than the first one and people are on denial about it,all of the sudden the xbox one s has erased the 20 million ugly ass xbox one sold which are huge with a huge power brick and which non of you say anything about..lol
Sorry you have little baby hands. Not everyone is born to be a man.
@emgesp said:@Shewgenja: You haven't done much research my friend. The Vizio M series is a very highly rated TV.
No P-3 colorspace support. Boo. Hiss. Go other team. Hell, the p-series Vizio doesnt support HDR10, either.
Edit: looks like they were patched on the tenth to comply with the hdr10 signal. Still no p-3 colorspace in the M series, though.
@Shewgenja: Its still a 4K TV with great PQ and really good lag performance in game mode (20ms). The average LCD has input lag of around 40 - 50ms.
I guess we will have to agree to disagree. Is it a great TV in 2016 at its pricepoint? Sure. No argument from me there. I will give you that. No harm no foul. Is it going to be relevant in two or three years? Kinda iffy. All of this 4K stuff is really getting tacked down in 2017 and to get a TV that really embraces the trends of where the TVs are going to go, you have two options. Wait, or pay. For 4K TVs to catch up with where 1080p displays were in 2007 or 2008 in terms of relevance and marketshare is going to take just a touch longer. A major mile-marker for 4K TVs, in terms of gaming, will be when we get true 120fps displays this side of 2K (and I do NOT mean this emulated frame spitting bullshit we have right now).
Dare I say it, in terms of raw technology and what we know about the Scorpio, I'd say that MS is positioning themselves very well. The ball is in Sony's court to drop a Neo that can stay in its wake. If there is no spec bump, which I have been led by a very reliable resource is the case I might add, then the Neo could be every bit a half-ass 4k product as that M series TV. A match made in heaven, unfortunately. The saving grace being that it has a huge installed fanbase to use as a springboard for exclusive games.
It looks fine to me. I think it looks better than the PS3 slim did.
More importantly, it'll likely be a $300 or less console which is great for those who haven't jumped into the generation. The NEO is undoubtedly be for the more hardcore / techy savvy people who want the latest and greatest.
@Shewgenja: I wouldn't call it a half ass 4K TV. No, its not going to compete with $2500+ OLED TVs, but for under $1000 you are getting a kick ass 4K TV, especially for gaming with the low input lag. You'd have to really nit pick to find something wrong with it.

I think it's great that Vizio is putting a decent 4K TV within reach of a more casual consumer. So, that's why I prefaced what I said with the fact that I totally contend that what you are getting for the price is pretty darn decent. For the sake of disclosure, I am a bit of a snob when it comes to HT equipment. Considering I am looking at going from a Denon to a McIntosh receiver at some point in the next three years. That's where I'm at.
@Shewgenja: Well, I can totally respect someone being into boutique quality items, but we were discussing mainstream level equipment. My main point was that the $299.99 4K ready Xbox One S might be the device that gets more people to go out and purchase 4K Televisions in greater numbers and something like the Vizio M series would be a great choice.
@emgesp: I disagree on that assertion. The S-model is only a one trick pony for 4k tv owners. It does not justify the cost with utility to a new adopter. Its great for the current XBone user looking to get a shiny upgrade and already has a 4k tv for the time being, but it isnt any more of a peanut butter and jelly product to a 4k tv owner than, say, a ps3 was to early hdtv owners.
Maybe, thats the point I didn't drive home. PS3 fans were convinced that their PS3 was going to be this serious market driver but it ended up languishing for its first three years because the games themselves were mostly nowhere near a standard that justified the expense of upgrading to any serious tv worth a damn.
Neo and Scorpio are those value propositions. The 4k in the S model is going to pale in comparison to what you will see happening in two weeks.
