i'm legitimately confused by this nonsense post.. good work sir

MonsieurX

There is nothing on the xbox ONE that would attract core gamers.

All you're gonna get are Halo, gears and forza after the first year (None of them will get above a 90 on meta).

The controller is inferior to the DS4 as stated by BF4 dev and journalists.

Inferior multiplats.

Cool crystal ball. That's one dev opinions What does the PS4 have at launch to attract core gamers? Killzone? What else? Knack?

MS wins launch. Generation = over.

Is this a joke?

No hardcore gamer would favor the xbox ONE. Inferior controller. No AAA exclusive. Halo and Forza after the first year.

It's better to go the same direction than go the WRONG direction. Don't blame the consumer for rejecting a bad idea.

There's only one more fact to point out here: this thread was going well and was really interesting until CallOfDutyRulez came to ruin it.

You don't say, a user named "CallOfDutyRulez" ruins a gaming thread?

"New direction"

Everytime I see someone trumpeting this it makes me laugh. Every console/handheld in the current gen does what Xbox One is trying to sell at some capacity, without the draconian user-control measure Microsoft originally intended.

I thought this was going to be about how Sony fanboys shot themselves in the foot by complaining so much that they made MS improve and make better decisions after all the noise they made. In the end, they weren't buying an XBOX anyways, but they ended up improving the next XBOX by all their complaints, go figure.

Right, if you want something that goes a "new direction", than buy a Wii U. Despite all its flaws, two of which are fairly easy to sort, it at least does something different without screwing the consumer like the Xbox One was going to do.

I was already expecting twins so no biggie.  I dont have enough time for all platforms anyways, so PC/PS4/WiiU will be fine with me.

Whilew may some people had gone a little overboard with the criticism, I still put a large amount of blame on Microsoft for not trying to explain or go into detail how they would handle all the new features the Xbone initially had, and why we should embrace it. Or maybe if the way they were originally going to implement said features would only further aggrevate gamers, they could have perhaps tweaked some of them to work differently instead of just dispose of them and, again, convey this to gamers and try to make them feel more positively towards the Xbox One.

In all honesty, some of the features on the Xbone might not have been so bad, depending on how Microsoft handled them, but now we won't know since Microsoft decided not to try and defend their decisions or improve upon their initial ideas and just bent over to the whim of all the complainers and just tossed away all the thingss that defined the Xbone and made it stand out (in what could have possibly been a bad way. Again we won't know now). The fact that they removed such features so willy-nilly makes me believe that microsoft really doesn't have any real kind of plan now for the Microsoft Xbone and are just winging it at this point.

that being said, I do think the Xbox one will be fine system, and I do think it may do fine in sales. If I get one though, it likely won't be until later in the gen, if it manages to get a decent amount of exclusives on it or announced.

You know what is even worse than homogenization? The path m$ wanted to steer gaming towards. M$ has a history of introducing sh1tty practices using shady methods. When m$ is trying something "new" people should react and try to prevent it like it happened this time because 99% of the time this "new" stuff is simply going to make the industry worse for consumers in the long run. So stop sucking up to m$ and smart up.

the fact that MS backtracking only means that those unnecessary functions attach doesnt improve anything in the aspect of gaming. Xbone is just a more efficient money making device compared to the 360 as it enable MS to make money everytime their customer uses the product. if you choose to go offline MS cant make a profit out of you. pay to play online becomes optional. ads will never reach you. and MS cant extract market data from you (we know social media makes a tons a profit data mining their subscribers).

It was good, I enjoyed the discussions we had going.

I suppose their arrival was inevitable but I actually hoped the wall of text would confuse them.  What I forgot to account for is that they will just post random crap in the thread anyway, regardless of whether they understand it or not.

Oh and for all the TL;DR's - PM me your addresses and i'll make sure some ritalin gets to you (seriously, if you didn't read the thread that's cool, just don't post in it).

You may have a point but nothing can really be done about it. If the market wanted what Microsoft tried to sell it wouldn't have backfired so spectacularly. Not to mention Microsoft themselves clearly weren't ready for it. I mean anyone on deployment in the military as well as people in a whole bunch of countries flat-out wouldn't have been able to use the system early on in its lifecycle. Just because their primariy market is the US doesn't make it smart to alienate so many people around the globe. When the market is ready for this sort of thing it will happen - though at that point it seems like everything should just be on some sort of computer but whatever.

Don't get me wrong, I blame Microsoft for making this mess as well but like you said we don't actually know how any of it would have turned out.  With some anti-consumer practices comes some unforseen benefits.  People just like to scream blue murder (this is probably a very English thing to say) about any DRM policy without realising that the industry itself wouldn't exist without them.

Completely agree, nothing can be done at all.  I just think it's a shame in some respects.
