You people are being stupid.

Consoles sell more than PCs, end of discussion. That's because they're more open to a wider audience. Which would your seven year old brother want more? The PS2 Shark Tale or the PC one? Halo and Madden or Half-Life 2 and Starcraft? The reason the Wii is dominating is because of it's open appeal. The reason the PS2 dominated was the same reason. PC gaming is not dead, near dead, or anything near that. It is fine, stronger than ever, showing substantial growth.

But alas, most people want other types of games, as is clear. Does this make console gaming better? No. No way. Ever. Consoles sell more because they're more open and easy. That makes them, if anything, simpler, and more idiotproof. Anyone can play them. That does not make them better.

You do know, that when you buy PC games off of steam, they are added to your account, right? So you can have as many games as you want on your account. Wow....

I hope this ends the argument.

I am beginning to get confused here. are you cows comparing the PC to every System ever created and then saying its die because it doesn't match them in sales?

How are you confuse? I mention in the original post. Sales always determine the winner. Since 1985, console gaming has outsold PC gaming.

Notice how most of the top selling games are really old? Looks like console gaming is declining I guess, just like Blizzard think it is. Looks like the PC is beating the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii this gen. It also seems that it beat the GC and Xbox last gen, and it's not "dead last" as you said, now is it?

I think every one is getting confused, I don't think us hermits are saying the PC (of course the PC out sells every system combined but I am talking gaming computers etc etc) out sells every next gen system. we are saying that the PC is far from dieing and that individually the PC since the next gen started has out sold all the other next gen systems (not combined but individually)

The PC was the winner back in the 90's, but now it's just too expensive and doesn't outperform the consoles nearly as much to be worth the high price you pay.

I never said that. I said they're open to a wider audience. Being simple does not immediately equal lack of depth, it means simple gameplay. FF is simple. Turnbased battles that are repetitive. Customization in character equipment is all that is truely deep about it, and even then, it is simple "equip this helm for 2 more defense". I cna think of ways that many PC games are simple. Even my favorite game, Half-Life 2, is a lot of simple shooting mixed with some complex and deep puzzles. It is still simple in a number of ways.

what about Crysis? I can build a rig for $813 on newegg that can run Crysis I would say to be safe an inch away from being maxed out.

So, you are comparing the price of all 3 console systems combined, against 1 system (PC). Yep, that's fair.

Most console games are designed towards the mainstream. Which is why I kind of got out of console gaming. And everytime I try to get back into it, it just dones't appeal to me. I owned all last gen consoles (still own a GC), and used to own a 360 but then got bored of it. The games just seemed much more simple and lacked depth and customization, something in which PC games have. Although there are some console games I enjoy and interested in, they just don't even come close to PC IMO. I used to be a console only gamer (few PC gamers here and there), and thought the same things some console fanboys believe now. But once I got more into it, and gave it a chance, I never looked back. It's really something you have to experiance. You won't understand it until you actually play many PC gamers, not just a few.

I agree. PC gaming is more complex, but I never said console games lacked depth. Maybe when compared to PCs, but the games themselves do not. Why do many of use enjoy FF games? For the combat? Many enjoy it for it's engaging and ever changing storyline, and it's interesting, deep characters. Many things about it are simple, but many are not.

The only simplistic games I absolutely despise are those that are simple in too many ways, or are just so simple in certain ways, I can find no enjoyment in the rest of the games. That's why I dislike games like Wii Sports. There is no storyline, characters, setting, complex gameplay, sound, graphics, or anything. It is overly simple.

How does everyone seem to able to know that PC gameing has lost? PC's don't sell units like consoles so theres no real way to tell. Well I guess we could count how many graphics cards have been sold since the 360s launch, and oh look the PC is ahead by probably several 100 times the number of 360s/PS3s sold. You can't even base it on game scales, because theres no must own games on PC like the consoles have because there are so many good games PC games won't buy them all.

Every day I see a new console person want to get a gaming rig. The fact of the matter is being on Xbox live feels like if I was sitting in a cubicle. Sure you can play online but that's about it. Plus you can't browse any servers which sucks. You're limited to what you can do and you're also paying for it. Ouch, isn't paying for broadband enough? I guess not for Micro$oft.

Don't even get me started on the Wii. I sold my thing after two weeks. There's really nothing there that is challenging. Hell that is really my point.

Haha Playstation 3, by 2010 there won't be any more in the making I bet. At least the online is free though. That I gotta give up to Sony, free online. If only Nintendo would stop being so hard headed and catch on.

Just to conclude my point, consoles are far too easy for those that want a real challenge. Zelda: Twilight Princess was a yawn fest. Gears of War, was rofl short and easy. The only real challenge was on Insane and even then two parts at the last level. It was fun for a bit though i'll give it that, but waay too short.

The real winner here is the PC. Sure we might have the games being pirated, and people afraid to try it out. But hey, it's for those that seek a challenge. A challenge in learning and building your own rig. No console will ever fully do what a PC does. That is why I hereby declare the PC winner of the next gen system wars.

p.s.

Quad and Eigth cores are incoming. Cell what? :D

Unstoppable_1

You can think whatever you want, but for me personally, PC gaming is just a pain in the backside. But many PC gamers dismiss it as 'laziness' or stupidity'.

The fact is that there are hundreds of thousands, even millions of people the world over that simply cannot afford to build a gaming rig, and many more still who dont know how, which is not necessarily their fault. Not everyone is skilled with computers.

Also, you say consoles are too easy, but many people dont share your opinion.
