I suggest you playing Fallout 3 if you considered New Vegas the best WRPG this gen. You will LOVE it. The games are pretty much EXACTLY the same, graphically, and gameplaywise, etc..... Its not as if the game aged. They are pretty much the same, just New Vegas is MORE of it. Only difference is a new setting, and new characters. If you liked it, you will like FO3. I reccomend picking it up in the bargain bin if you can.I've played Oblivion, which I thought was crap, and New Vegas, which I consider the best WRPG this gen. So I'm inclined to go with Fallout, but Obsidian deserves props for that, not Bethesda.
No interest in Fallout 3, but I am giving Skyrim a shot. More mods need to come out though.

The only Fallout Bethesda made was Fallout 3 and Skyrim is better than that game.
Now, the whole Fallout IP is whole different beast. Fallout 1 and 2 are still better than anything Bethesda has ever made.
I'm going with this.Skyrim makes up for the lameness that was Oblivion. Fallout 3 and Fallout: NV don't even compare.

New Vegas was pretty damn good. Fallout 3 just plain sucked. The writing sucked, the story sucked, the characters sucked, and that's what actually made New Vegas good. Not too mention the choices you actually had in New Vegas, but not in Fallout 3.I've played Oblivion, which I thought was crap, and New Vegas, which I consider the best WRPG this gen. I preferred Fallout 3 to New Vegas, but I prefer the Elder Scrolls series as a whole over the Fallout series. I'm just more of a fantasy world kind of dude. I love me some science fiction, but I'd just rather read LoTR before.. the Halo novels? Can't think of any prominent Sci-Fi series right now. It's late. :P Story isn't exactly a strong point in any of these games, but the environments, and lore of the ES series just kinda pull me in.

The thing about these games is that you end up creating your own story through your adventures.
Have to say Fallout right now. When I play Skyrim, I may change my mind. In the future, if another Fallout game is made with the new Skyrim engine, then it's a wrap!
Why compare, they're both excellent franchises, though Fallout New Vegas wasn't nearly as good as Fallout 3, but that's because they punted the work off to another studio so they could work on Skyrim, and I'm glad they did.lamprey263I thought NV was much better than Fallout 3. Just had too many bugs at launch. Writing, story, characters, and RPG elements were all better (Hardcore mode was genius, even if it became tiresome to drink water after 100+ hours of gamplay lol). Quest structure was superb too, with overarching quests. It just didn't have that initial wow factor that F3 had.

New Vegas was 5 times better than Fallout 3.[QUOTE="lamprey263"]Why compare, they're both excellent franchises, though Fallout New Vegas wasn't nearly as good as Fallout 3, but that's because they punted the work off to another studio so they could work on Skyrim, and I'm glad they did.TREAL_Since
It was quite the opposite for me TC.
Fallout 3 I played for a bit, but I ended up just looking up info on Fallout 3 on my laptop to suddenly being on System Wars reading topics.
Oblivion just kinda died off from me, It didn't get my attention that well, But then all of a Sudden something happened.
I played The Elderscrolls V: Skyrim.
I was never into a game like this ever before.
Fallout 3 I played a little bit and stopped, Oblivion I never got REALLY into it, but Skyrim I dug down in this suckker, I just got off of it and I played till nearly dawn yesterday.
I'm going to go with Elderscrolls because of Skyrim, but Thanks to that game I'm going to give Oblivion and Fallout a second Chance.
I swear Bethesda hold the most well rounded Franchise set in the biz...
The Elder Scrolls- Epic fantasy, Tolkienesque, Nordic/Euroasian/Middle-Eastern mythos.
Fallout- Post apocalypse, Black humor, Pulp sci fi, Pop culture.
No other dev could hold a candle to that. :D
Skyrim dug TES series out of the hole Oblivion buried it in, but Fallout 3 and New Vegas are both excellent games too, so its a tough call. All we know is Skyward Sword flopped trololo.
1. Fallout isn't a Bethesda franchise. The only Fallout game developed by Bethesda was 3.
2. The Elder Scrolls series is old and revered by millions of PC gamers for being one of the maintstream forefathers of open world action RPGs.
