its funny how these "fans" have been wanting Diablo 3 for so long..and then when they show it there all like "OMFG!! iz so Cartoonie1!!", be happy with what you get...hell blizzard dident even have to release the game for that matter... just accept it, at least you have a great game coming
Jeez, how pitiful. Blizzard's fans will complain about anything.Doctor-Salvador
It's not neccessarily Blizzard fans but the Internet really.
And Blizzrd won't listen. They'll continue development the way they feel Diablo III should be crafted.
While i really wish fanboys would just let the developers make the games, and quit making demands as if Bungie/Blizzard/Whoever somehow owes them somethng, i have to admit that the altered images there do look an awful lot better and a lot more familiar.Ninja-HippoI agree with everything you said. I do like the darker images they seem more fitting of Diablo, but Blizzard can do what they want. I would hope they would value some of what fans want. A slightly darker atmosphere would make the game amazing. A petition is a little crazy.
I love the petition this, petition that movement. Maybe I missed out last gen, but I cant remember it ever being this bad. I mean seriously, I can understand petitioning something important, but petitioning for less color and darker tone??? My gosh people. What's next? Are they going to sue?
It's ridiculous. Let the Diablo creator be the creator. If video games are supposed to be an art form, fans shouldnt have a say. I cant imagine petitioning a painter because I wanted his colors to be darker. Ridiculous.
thank god i dont make games, no matter how good or bad you are youre always damned if you do and damned if you dont, gamers have got to be the most obnoxious and unsatisfied human beings on the face of the earth, seriously people like these, people who say many of the famous quotes around system wars be they sheep, hermits, lemmings or cows make me sick to my stomach and ashamed to call myself a gamerst1ka
You're right, game developers loath prix like this. These are they guys that want a sequel, but want the sequel to remain the same as the original. They want something totally fresh and new, but just liek the original. If you make something that is similar to its predecessor, then they claim its Diablo 2.5. But then if you actually pput thought into its evolution, then all of a sudden its lost its essence.
I loved Diablo 2, and D3 looks to be even better.

Haha, hes just dereailed the petition! Well done, I was thinking of turning gamma down just before I read this.
thank you my friend. Exactly what i thought. I had to turn the gamma up on my PC when I first played Diablo because I couldnt see everything.
[QUOTE="Toriko42"]Oh my god, Blizzard themselves said right before the video, "This is a work in progress, much remains to be done"Thats why its important for fans to make themselves heard and try and get Blizzard to go in the right direction.
I have no doubt they'll make it darker like the old one but even then it still is beautiful
blue_hazy_basic
the fans arent artists, arent developers, don't have stock in the company and unless they're beta testers, they really dont matter.
[QUOTE="lettuceman44"]Mods, and the game was just announced, so just be quite. People just need to stop whining. ;)[QUOTE="Benevolentbob"]They're 100% right. It looks just like the warcraft art stlye. Not that there's anything wrong with the warcraft art style, but this si diablo, not warcraft. It should be much darker than this. The comparitive pictures of the bridge scene are a good ecample, the bottom, darker one looks way more like Diablo should look. They're taking this in the wrong direction, is this going to stop a bunch of people including myself from buying the game? Nope, and that's why Blizzard doesn't give a crap. It's further proof Blizzard is riding the money train if you ask me, because the warcraft art style is appealing to a wider audience, which is obviously why they're using it. It looks like they're shooting for a teen rating as well, again shooting for a wider audience. All Blizzard sees these days is $$$$$$$$$$.flclempire
I'm so hardcore, I can't play this crap! And we all know hardcore people can't see green or blue.
They are starting petitions early because if they do it later it'll be much to late for Blizzard to even consider redoing everything. I don't understand how people can't appreciate the diablo artsty1e and are happy with the WoW sty1e clone. The weapons and armor are STRAIGHT out of WoW. We want to play diablo 3, not world of diablocraft 2.3.
Sorry but Diablo II weapons were bland and boring, I would much rather this new idea, Blizzard knows what people want, the fact is Diablo III will reach a much larger fan base than the originals, being directly linked to the WoW site, a place 10 Million people go at least once a few months.
The Dungeon had an awesome atmosphere, what because it was pitch black it wasnt good enough? black =I scarey/mature/gritty.
That is probably one of the starting areas of the game, how can you judge what the rest will be based on that?
Hardcore fans are so good at complaining. They did this with Smash, Halo, Metal Gear, Resident Evil 4 ... every other sequil ever made. NAPK1NS
I cant stand hardcore fans. They tend to ruin it for streamline fans like myself. Hell, I'm just happy to have D3, we'd been talking about D2 at work recently.
And I see people complaining that Blizzard haven't done much of anything original, or better worded: new, for quite some time now. Well they did well with WoW, but you can pretty much understand why their well placed titles better stick to safe ground... don't you just love the gaming community some times?
If the company wants to make something new, they better stick with new IP's, and quite frankly I wouldn't mind those since I haven't heard of them since... well... what? Blackthorn? Maybe. Then again Blizzard can pretty much survive with only their main 3 franchises...
First, gamers are complaining that next gen is too much of brown tones. And when a developer breaks away from that mold with an art direction of vibrant colors.... they say thay want the subdued less saturated colors.
Wow it sucks to be devs these days, they just can't win no matter what they do :|
I call this the Fallout 3 syndrome. Those people don't like change I guess. They prefer an identical Diablo 2,5 clone game.
Its almost unbearable for me to read the forums because 75% of it contains whining. I'm surprised Blizzard is making a Diablo III at all. Considering what they earn with the succes of WoW.
I for one am gratefull. They are basicly doing us a fan service. After 8 years, I expected much more positive responce from the Diablo community.
The only thing the edited screens was done with. Lower contrast/brightness, and much reduced colour. Seriously, just smear some mud on your monitor... problem solved!
[QUOTE="Makari"]I keep saying it.. PC gamers are a bunch of whining spoiled brats.PC360Wii
Yea because this doesnt happen for console games?
Not to the same extent, no. PC gamers are pretty elitist... and if you start looking at minority forum communities, they can sometimes bring this amazing sense of entitlement to everything. I mean, the game's 2+ years out and we've seen literally two parts of two levels... the equivalent of seeing the Den of Evil -> Blood Raven in D1, and we've already got people saying 'HEY THERE'S TOO MUCH GREEN AND LIGHT' while knowing absolutely nothing about the other 99% of the environments in the game.Oh, I just though of something... Why don't you Diablo 3 graphics haters ask for a darkening filter option...? That way I can play my Fruit Loop's game and you can have your dark as a cave game.
P.S.
Also why not wait till the modders make a mod to turn it dark for you?

If only the Fallout arguments rested solely on the atmosphere of the game. I'm not a traditionalist by any stretch of the imagination, but the examples aren't exactly the same.
It's not even being done by the same developers. Imagine if the Warcraft universe were given to Bethesda?...Let's not even go there, for it might bring the end of the universe.
Their version looks INCREDIBLE. And I completely agree. The game's art style is obviously influenced by the Warcraft games. It looks nothing like Diablo 1 or 2.
IMO they are getting pissed too early ....all games specially blizz games look way different from when they are done...so give them a chance and wait
Angakua
Such as? This game has been in development for over four years. If you're expecting them to drastically change the art direction in the last year of development, that's just silly.

Diablo 3 isn't being done by the same developers, either. Most of the Blizzard North guys left, remember?I gotta admit, the remakes of the original artwork is better, looks a lot sharper and over-all ''Diablo-er''. But the rest of the claims are wack... Blizzard is the original creator. Let there be mods after that, and be happy with those. If you're not, do some yourself.
The guy right above me pretty much nailed it. Although I think the contrary lol, I prefer less cartoony graphics to a darker environement. You can always lower your screen's clarity if you really want that ...

I seem to remember a bunch of gamers whining over a game like DMC4 ending up on another platform, and if only it was whining capcom would probably say. It's not a discussion about who's more of it than. Why does that even matter, when all of them are at some point.

Diablo 3 isn't being done by the same developers, either. Most of the Blizzard North guys left, remember?Yes and they organized Flagship. Published by EA. I surely didn't recognise their talent in Hellgate London. That just goes to show you, a good leader can make the difference. Those guys are nothing without the creative ''big'' man.
