First PS3 I owned was a 40GB PS3 which bricked on me, so the most reliable console ever for me remains anything Nintendo makes.
lol, dude....Ps2 is pretty reliable. LOL no it isn't. I love the console, but it DRE'd on me twice and I had to buy a new one (2 fats, one slim). In comparison, ive only had the RROD this once which i got repaired for free. I'd say the Gamecube is the most reliable console ever.[QUOTE="charizard1605"]Reliable consoles: SNES Genesis Nintendo 64 Xbox Gamecube Wii Actually, now that I come to think about it, Sony is the only manufacturer without a spot on that list...ristactionjakso
Mine still works fine... but I only play netflix on it.
I have a stack of games for it that I'm trying to force myself to play and it is a struggle to get through that stack before I completely turn against gaming.
lol, dude....Ps2 is pretty reliable. The Sony dre was a huge production flaw. Nothing like RROD, but still.[QUOTE="charizard1605"]Reliable consoles: SNES Genesis Nintendo 64 Xbox Gamecube Wii Actually, now that I come to think about it, Sony is the only manufacturer without a spot on that list...ristactionjakso
I've had my 60GB PS3 since 2007 and it still works flawlessly to this day. I've never had to take it in once. Am I just lucky, or do fat PS3's tend to be pretty reliable? I don't remember reading any articles about the fat PS3 having major overheating issues like the 360. Pretty amazing considering this console is drawing 200 watts at full load.
Also, just for fun what do you consider to be the most reliable console of all time? IMHO, it's either the SNES, or N64.emgesp
The PS3 is more reliable that the 360 if you consider the life of the platform (I have a launch 360 that still works, though :D ).
I have an old Atari 2600 from the early 80s that still works. So does my Atari 7200 (1986-ish).

I had the original fat ps2 for 7 years before I traded it to a friend for a car stereo. I never cleaned it and beat it up pretty good and it still works till this day. I bought a new slim model right before they stopped selling new ps2's in Gamestop.[QUOTE="charizard1605"]Reliable consoles: SNES Genesis Nintendo 64 Xbox Gamecube Wii Actually, now that I come to think about it, Sony is the only manufacturer without a spot on that list...RR360DD
Nintendo's machines are ones built to last, I've never had Nintendo console break on me. Same for Sega's machines too actually. MS & Sony are notorious at this point for releasing buggy / faulty hardware.
X360 being the worst... and PS3 following shortly after. Not sure how you could even make an argument for the PS3 being MOST reliable, when its nearly the most unreliable console ever.... oh wait, this is SW's.... where Cows roam rampant.
you are lucky... bought mine the day after the 60 gig dropped to 500 and it got ylod two days after the uncharted 2 multi player beta came out for the public to download. i went to sony.com to see what was wrong and to see how much it would cost to fix it. there i seen thousands of other who had the same problem. then i find out it cost 180 dollars to fix it plus shipping both ways. believe it or not my 360 got rrod less then a week later! it cost me nothing to get it fixed because ms manned up for their console`s faults. with each new SKU made to fix the problem. sont only made new ps3 skus to make money and never did mention anything about the older ps3`s getting ylod. it is not as bad as the 360 problems but it happened to alot of people so it should have forced sony to act on it. specialy since the console cost so much to start with.I've had my 60GB PS3 since 2007 and it still works flawlessly to this day. lol at people saying "my snes is more reliable than my ps3"
of course it is, there's no moving parts in the snes.
Nope that was the SNES. The original fat PS3 was the most awesome console ever though.kuraimeni think the safest ever was the sega master system. mine still works after being in the basement for ever lol. i tried all my systems out a few months ago. my super nintendo powered on but the controllers wont do anything. i remember having to replace them back in the day because the cords would come out pretty easy.

Sony's failure has been the most surprising.
They have lost all the money they have made on the ps2 and ps1.
They are still losing money in their playstation division. http://www.ps3hax.net/2012/05/sonys-playstation-division-reports-a-2-8bn-yearly-loss/
Their install base has erroded tremendously. Down from 150 to 70 million
They lost 170+ million on the PSN hack.
Sony stock has been regulated to junk status.
PS Experia phone was a failure.
PSGo was a failure.
PSVita is a failure.
Sony is losing money on the PSN. Won't even provide PS+ subscriber numbers.
The laser in my phat just stopped working a few months ago. Funny enough, I puchased a 360 in 2005 and had it with no problems until I bought a new slim which hasn't had any problems. So for me in terms of reliability PS3-0 360-1
[QUOTE="BossPerson"]Well my NES broke while my SNES didn't... And the Wii has moving parts too but it's pretty reliable. Of course it did, because it has moving parts. He just said that. NES has a pin connecter that gets compressed by a latching spring tray, SNES did not and therefore worked more reliably and only had to worry about oxidation (409 removes oxidation).lol at people saying "my snes is more reliable than my ps3"

Mine is fat and is the only PS3 I only got.my 60GB died after 4 years and I don't know a single person in real life with a phat model that is still functional. People are now selling the thing for like $3,000 new on Amazon and Ebay. XD

My wife has a 40GB phat that still works, i know, shocking , especially as it's a 40GB, apparently those where the least reliable of the PHatsmy 60GB died after 4 years and I don't know a single person in real life with a phat model that is still functional. I could say that cartridge based systems are light years more reliable. Then there's Nintendo systems which have a reputation of being reliable. The Gamecube is a rock. Lord knows if i will ever know anyone that had his Wii die on him. So were does that leave the PS3 on the reliability scale? In the f*cking garbage bin with all the other systems except those that are cartridge based or Nintendo.
But common ground is that how well you take care of it plays a large part in how reliable it'll be. So there's gonna be a guy out there with a 10 year old PS2 in perfection condition, wile his Mega Drive burned out years ago.

loool is this a joke? My Master System and GameGears still runs perfectly, but I had to replace my fat PS3 2 times. First becaause the drive broke, second because it YLODed and I got a Slim after that (which broke as well btw).

My 80GB (not backwards compatible) is still working fine, not that I use it much anymore. It's a good 5 years old though.
Interestingly, I also have a backwards compatible 60GB PS3 from 2007. Those seem quite flawless indeed. Of course it might also be down to the way you nurture your console...
I have a launch PS3 and I haven't played it since Uncharted 3 but I turned it on recently to play the Ni No Kuni demo and the system was really noisy the fan's where so loud, I can't remember but was it always like that, I can't enjoy Ni No Kuni with the kind of noise it must be on its last legs
Maybe I'm just used to playing Xbox 360 games installed to the HDD
I actually had a 40GB phat model that lasted me about four years or so. I bought it used and only recently sold it. I have a super slim with 500GB HDD now. Honestly though every console I've owned (anything that has existed since around 1992 basically) has been reliable for me aside from the 360.
Elite x360 launch kaput-ted itself. Jan 07 ps3 still running the last time I blew dust off that thing. Wii also still running.
My 2006 60gb ps3 is still working but ive been looking into replacing the thermal paste, now that i think of it ive never had a console fail on me, only problems ive ever had was my 2600 power cord pretty much needs to be taped into the correct place to keep in from falling out.dank124if you dont mind me asking is that the Amiga 2600?
