If there is anything Square-Enix is particularly good at, it is the direction of their cutscenes. I can't imagine the gameplay being anything super innovative. The story looks intense and I hope that there is some sort of major climax and character development in this game. I expect good graphics and an epic soundtrack. If this is an indication of what is to be expected on the PS3 platform of the game, then my expectation in terms of graphics hasn't disappointed. I feel myself becoming immersed in the world of FFXIII when watching the trailer but I can't say the same for the battles (yet).
[QUOTE="hakanakumono"][QUOTE="dreman999"] I'm I the only one that find it funny the the first example used is Cloud who had to cross dress in the game. Oh and nothing is manlier than a man who dresses like a blind man triping in a closet, Also, Squall ,attack wise he's the strongest but he was the king of Emo's before emo was ever thought of. He was the only emo main character in FF.dreman999
Yeah, the cross dressing scene is supposed to be funny because he's a guy. ._.;
Squall isn't emo. Emo is going around parading your emotions and seeking attention for them. Squall hides his emotions, which is commonly considered to be the masculine thing to do. Getting Squall to be more willing to be more open is sort of the point of VIII.
1. You don't understand. Using Cloud as an image as mascularity in FF is funny due to him cross dress and I know the scene was ment to be funny. 2.I for one hate the speculation that people have that all male leads in FF ARE EMO. They're not. But Squall is. He's the only one. He was depressing and constaly taking about his sister though out the game because he could not stand being with out her. If you this Squall is not emo than you need to replay ff8.Actually, I would suggest that you replay VIII. Ellone is not Squall's sister and less than 5% of squall's dialogue is actually spent talking about Ellone. Squall mostly keeps to himself. We know squall's internal conflict not because he constantly talks about it, but because of a flashback, the scene where the characters recall the orphanage in Trabia, and Squall's brief talk with comatose Rinoa on the rail bridge. And that's pretty much it. Squall is the opposite of emo. He has internal problems, but he doesn't wear them on his sleeve. Instead he just pushes everyone away and gives off the impression that he doesn't care about anything.
Ahh, you're right. I thought it was you who made that initial post but it was dead end panda. My bad, I apologize. I remembered incorrectly.

its cool. after reading my reply, it looks like i was coming off as a jerk. the point was already made in an earlier post, so i apologize for that...
anyway, after seeing the post a few posts up, it seems like my complaint is more against the stereotypical anime dude as opposed to FF specifically
i retract my statements...

Alright. I don't really see FF as "anime," but it's certainly Japanese and the Japanese view of what a boy looks like seems to be a little more broad than what you see in western games.

FF has Japanese aesthetics. I tend to prefer Japanese aesthetics, so it works for me.
the only thing that looks good about this game is the graphics. There is nothing else appealing to me from what I've seen. It's worth a look after release thoughmohfrontlinewhat games are you looking forward?

what the hell does it matter to you what he likes?...he didnt bash FF13..all he simply said was the game did not look like it would appeal to him..but here you are trying to force your opinion onto people..as well as resorting to childish "Final Fantasy iz TEh BEst and Iz bettah than anything U lyke Lulz1!!"...it's annoying fanboys like yourself that make people hate FF series..

No, he actually said the only good thing is graphics. And i just dont get the hate i see everyday for the franchise, especially when the things they hate are probably in his favorite games. But whatever. And people het FF cause of the fanboys? your going to play the fanboys or the game? and what am i going to say bout halo and MW fanboys.I work for Square Enix :DYour really shoving the whole Final Fantasy thing into peoples faces.
Yandere
It looks GIRLY as hell, oh and the music... puke
The gameplay looks solid, and the cutscenes are amazing
Strip away the graphics and cinematics and the game isnt anything special.InfinityMugengameplay is great too. We might as well stip away everything till it gets a bad game.

But of course its never about the game quality, its alway bout the high production values.
Drake, not everyone has to be interested in Final Fantasy. There are a lot of stupid reasons why it gets criticism, but not everyone has to like it.
Strip away the graphics and cinematics and the game isnt anything special.InfinityMugen
Why not? The story will be great and the gameplay for FFXIII will be the best Final Fantasy gameplay to date. Not only is it totally revamping Final Fantasy, but it's a progressive JRPG overall.

Believe it or not, high production values are a good thing. The bolded is nearly trolling. Just because a game has impressive cutscenes it features in it's trailers (the story being the highlight of the last 6 or so Final Fantasy games), doesn't mean that there won't be gameplay. The thing about gameplay is that we've seen a lot of Final Fantasy gameplay, and it's more fun to play than it is to watch. So that's why the trailers have mainly focused on story.
It's not like Square just shoves money into a vending machine and all of the sudden great graphics come out. There's a lot of work put into these titles and it isn't graphics alone that are going to sell this game. Final Fantasy games have plenty of substance, and thats why they're popular to this day. Final Fantasy XIII isn't being hyped because Final Fantasy is in the title, it's being hyped because in terms of story, graphics, and gameplay it looks to be the best JRPG thus far (End of Eternity being i'ts closest competitor).
Its purdy for sure, however it dosn't pwn all games to date for the simple reason we haven't played it. Saying it will own all officialy destroys your credibilty.
But it is purdy for sure, no denying that.

It'll sell like gangbusters and fans will sing praises when it comes out, but all I see is hype. It's going to be a great movie though.
What's better?
And oh please, are we seriously going to complain that Final Fantasy XIII has cutscenes? No, we shouldn't be able to see the events that unfold in XIII. How silly of Square to expect us to want to see a great presentation of the game's plot.
And are you seriously still pretending that Final Fantasy XIII doesn't have gameplay? Or is it that you think it'll be the same gameplay since Final Fantasy IX?

I honestly have to say square should try working on a new IP. that would great, they can't ride the FF train forever. It will kill the company in the end.

I might give it a try...I'm afraid I don't share the same love for JRPGs as I do for WRPGs. Besides my PS3 game selection is looking pretty bare tbh.

But I have lost interest and dont think it'll be a game I want to purchase. You're expressing an opinion? You're making silly statements implying that the only good aspect about the game will be the cutscenes and that the gameplay will be poor. Of course, you have no interest in actually learning about what FFXIII plays like, and just like the majority of FF haters you make claims about a game you know nothing about.
Final Fantasy fans don't appreciate Final Fantasy regardless of what Final Fantasy it is. In fact, they're very divided in what they think a good Final Fantasy is. Now amongst fans its popular to hate on VII and hype IX. And complain about everything possible in XIII, from the games English theme song to the graphics. When Final Fantasy XII failed to deliver in terms of storyline, it was shunned by the majority of fans. So no, if Final Fantasy XIII is truly bad it will not be simply gobbled up by fans.
Lost interest? Did you have any in the first place?
Great movie? what the hell are you talking about? this game will have more play time than all of your games togetherDrakes_FortuneThats very ignorant of you, the game isn't even out yet. Don't jump the boat as of yet.

Don't jump the boat as of yet. of course i exagerated when i said all of his games together. But i have no doubts it we can get 100 hours of it. Every past FF did why cant this one do it too? The devs already said its 50 hours just for the storyline.
