I've bolded the important parts. I'm sure someday, there will be a game that beats it. But Final Fantasy is certainly the benchmark for all other RPGs to be compared. I'm glad that series is still available on the PS3.

 It is your assumption as well that it is going on the 360. I believe it won't BUT the 360 will get a exclusive FF13 game itself, due to the fact MS is being invited to Square's little party. When I read that article, when it said FF13 is going multi-platform I a assumed it was talking about Wii and the DS, not 360.  When I think FF13, I think of it as a series now like I do with FF7. Each system will get a FF13 exclusive game of its own IMO. That isn't too bad if you ask me. Also think about it for a moment, if someone says FF13:(Add name here) people are gonna just hear "FF13" part. These are early reports and I don't take anything too serious. It is all hear say at the moment. Just be happy that MS is gonna get a FF13 game of its own. If FF 13 goes on 360 as well it would be a big blow to Sony, but that one link in its update is telling me what I think is gonna happen, FF13 stays on PS3 and 360 will get is own exclusive game. You also have to remember that FF is huge in Japan and 360 is doing badly there compared to the PS3. I COULD BE WRONG, but I think FF install base is bigger in Japan then it is here in the US. This is the other reason why I believe the main FF13 game will be Sony only.

If name recognition = best RPG game, then yes FFXIII beats any RPG releasing in the future.  Too bad we haven't seen what the game actually looks like and we have yet to see it's competition.  I hate crowning a game based on what the predecessor has done, too many times companies think they can just ride the coat tails of their previous achievements.

ive never played a ff game properly..but i do know i hate turn based fighting in games...

but i might take a look at this up comong game..its getting enough hype around here thats for sure..but i doubt it will be any where near as good as oblivion.

I thought the announcement said the spin off games of FFXIII were going to be multiplatform but the actual FFXIII game is still (for now) PS3 exclusive.  Supposedly it's another shooter like the recent remake of FFVII.

I have to agree,but i'm probably being biased just because FFX is my fav rpg of all time.

However that's not too say blue dragon and lost odyssey are not must buy jrpg's...because they are imo

I just read that interview that SUPPOSDLY they praise Blue Ray and the PSN

well ..... it was all a lie from forum fanboys, the INTERVIEWER asked about the BR, not that he suddenly brought it up cheering, and said that it was good and would enebale some more things in the game, not that those would be impossible on a simple DVD, as for PSN, he said ... they have no plans yet

FF is the King? Were Skies of Arcadia, Dragon Quest, Vagrant Story, KoTOR, Chrono, Lunar, Kingdom Hearts, Elder Scrolls and the others consulted in this matter? Final Fantasy hasn't been pretty hit and miss the last 5 years or so.

After Sakaguchi left, Square is starting to lose it's touch. 

I loved FF7 and FF8

 But they still cant compare too Kotor and Fallout.

Actually, part of WoW's success is due to the out-dated graphics. You see, with an emphasis on style rather then polygons, Blizzard was able to expand their potential player base. Even on dated hardware, World of Warcraft still functions fairly well, while looking as eye-pleasing as it is.

I agree. pc devs need to keep that in mind. seems all they want to do is push more graphics. blizzard games are all hugely successful but graphically they are never top of the line.

Please xbots, you cant say games like Oblivion are better, aside from the fact that they are almost completely different and that it is also on the PS3, Elder Scrolls was only on the xbox and was not even close to the boom that Final Fantasy was.

Do you think I care whether the Japanese like American RPGs or not?

All I know is that Mass Effect is going to be crowned king of all RPGs this year, all due to it's sheer depth and amazingness. It's both a shooter and an RPG with such a cool interactive world. I do admit FF13 is good, but MASS EFFECT is just better.
