Strange as hell why that sport is called football, since it's in your hands most of the time.
Football is soccer. 99% of the time, you're using your foot.
I don't get why people just don't trade their older Fifa in to Amazon and get credit to use it for the new one? I traded mine in for $25 and used it for Fifa 12.Can people actually call it football for once please. i know i dont get why its called that either but it is, cant change it nowI'm not sure but i don't think that's how it works online, you can only turn it off in custom matches. (*i think*)Tactical defending is great but it can be turned off :| Doubt players will use it online.

It's kind of like how Greenland is full of ice, but Iceland is full of greenery.
I would hope that EA at least forces it to be turned on for quick ranked matches.Tactical defending is great but it can be turned off :| Doubt players will use it online.

Which makes no sense...like why the USA uses inches/pounds but the rest of the world uses centimeters/kilograms.
Let's just accept that the USA is strange and move on.

Well back like 100 years ago, there were two kinds of football in europe.. There was assosiation football and rugby football. Rugby football came over to america and became very popular among colleges and over time the rules changed the sport evolved, and they just dropped rugby from the name, where as in europe they dropped the assossiation from assossiation football and dropped the football from rugby football.
And too make it less weird when people say football I don't think of a foot and a ball I think of distance, each play is about gaining as many feet in distance up the field as you possibly can so it makes a little more sense when you think about it that way.
From what I read I think you can turn it off offline and in player matches online. In ranked matches it will always be on.Tactical defending is great but it can be turned off :| Doubt players will use it online.

wow 9.5?!?!?! lol soccer games dont interest me too much but wow what a score according to ign FIFA 12>>>>>>GEARS 3 lolTH1Sx1SxSPARTA
I think you have to look at it more in the sense that, while it did score higher than gears, that doesn't necessarily make it the "better" game.
Sports games (I would imagine) are rated compared to other sports games (and taking into account the notable improvements of Fifa 12 over Fifa 11, I can see why it scored so high), so it's not like IGN is saying that everyone will enjoy Fifa 12 more than Gears...they're saying that if you are a fan of the franchise and you have an interest in sports games, then you will love this freaking game.

[QUOTE="Sushiglutton"]Funny they used a Brit to review it. They know all about football except how to play it ! Looks really amazing!mattuk69England is rank 4th in the world with FIFA and English clubs dominate the world of football so.... Wait how can England be ranked 4th ? I wasn't being that serious though. Just that England has failed in the big tournaments for a while now. But I admit they have some very good players. And the clubs are top notch.
Here is a history lesson.
In Great Britain, the great sport of Football (the one you actually play with your foot) was formed by major influences from sports, other cultures around the world played. In the 1860's, while the sport was starting up in Great Britain, many schools and clubs carried different rules for the sport of football. It was common to give nicknames to these different clubs.
Association Football was nicknamed "Soccer" by many of the English. At the same time, another football school created with a different set of rules (in which allowed the use of hands) was starting up. This was later on nicknamed "Rugby" after the name of the school. These nicknames were used to differ the two major schools of Football.
Fast forward a few decades and the sport of Football, became very popular in colleges throughout the United States. The form that was the most popular form however, was Rugby. Now since Rugby was the uber popular version of football played in the United States, the term of Football was coined to the sport.
In the meantime in the United Kingdom, the different versions of Football started to both become very popular. Rugby became its own name for its sport, while Football was given to the sport that you use your foot.
(Fast Forward another few decades) In the United States, the sport of Football (Rugby) became super popular in a societal standpoint. The sport was heavily influenced by the American culture and as such was Americanized.
Blah Blah Blah years pass and the NFL was created.

They could be 4th because they have the talent but instead they are managed terribly insist on playing their big name old players who are slow and incredibly predictibe..
They should just load the team with young Man U players.. its really amazing what SAF has done and has a very young talented english team.. Just put in Hart at goal keeper and 1 or 2 other modifications and they have a team that is 10 times better than what they are playing right now.

Just because a sports game scores higher doesn't mean it's better than all games outside of the sports genre. Reading comprehension is fundamental. / holy **** lol i was joking, most 7/10 games i would enjoy more than a AAA sports title lol take it easy

[QUOTE="racing1750"]I played it and tbh it felt just like the last two fifas. I'm sure die-hard fifa fans will notice.percechI did. It's a huge difference actually. If it wasn't, then I'd be able to dominate in the demo. I'd lose by 2 goals on Legendary. I couldn't feel this huge difference.

If it wasn't, then I'd be able to dominate in the demo. I'd lose by 2 goals on Legendary. I couldn't feel this huge difference. The tactical defense completely changes how I play the game. There is now a ton of risk in just sprinting up to the ball and going for a standing tackle. This makes the AI play off the ball defensively, so while it is much easier to move the ball down the field, it is also much harder to get breakaways. It will be interesting to see how human players play online. I have a feeling that the game will be much more realistic and that ball control will matter much more than it did in FIFA 11.
