This is a classic case of console fanboys thinking they know everything about PC's whilst they no nothing. (By the way, I am not calling the TC a console fanboy, but all the doubters he/she is refering to)

I don't understand it myself. But you have to remember one thing, most of the members of SW are completely igorant about PC. So they imagine that if a fighter comes to PC that you will NEED to play with the K & M and there is no option of buying a gamepad. PC is all about options but most don't realize that. Another reason I read why fighting games won't work on PC is because they sell bad. lol yet there is no credible data to prove this since PC literally has around 5 fighting games, if that.

I've owned a Dream Authentics Excalibur arcade cabinet for about 2 years now. With a strong pc powering it, neon bulbs and custom paint, Mame, flight stick, Mortal Kombat 3 joystick layout, glowinthedark trackball, pinball buttons, working coin door mechanism, and the ability to map all the buttons on the control panel to any pc game... going online with Street Fighter IV with my current setup is gonna rock all 3 consoles to hell and back.

Dunno who said fighting games won't work on PC, but in my case they do. All a fighting fan needs is a moderate rig with an X-Arcade dual joystick and they'll play with higher resolutions and as good as any controls can be. Can't wait. Hope it's cross platform play so I can smoke the lems.

Although i agree with you, i doubt many people here know how to use a stick correctly. Console pads are 100 x's easier if you dont know how to use an arcade stick.

A console is a restricted PC, its not an Open platform like a PC.

the only fighting series I care about is Melty Blood and that's a PC-centric fighting series :)

On a side note, look at those lines of japanese gamers waiting to buy Touhou Hisouten, a PC 2D doujin fighter on release day :)

seems they don't have troubles with the idea of playing fighters on PC :D

A console is a restricted PC, its not an Open platform like a PC.

IT doesn'T change the fact, that a guy can be as competitive as you with his PS3 (and you with your PC) on a mmorpg and rts games. Like you said PC has option, but so does the PS3 (dunno for Xbox 360 I think it does too).

PS: I do agree with your main idea, thats why I use different controllers for different pc games.

Arcade stick would be better on PC than consoles. Think about it. On PC, you can place the arcade stick board on your desk, which is comfortable. On consoles, you have to place it on your lap, bed, or on the dinner table depending on where you are sitting. I know which one I would choose :)

Its not a good one stock default but it is amazing once you customize it like I have.

Here are all the new modifications before the wiring was placed in.

Hmm...because every fighter on PC uses pad or arcade stick while no RTS on modern consoles uses KB and mouse? :)

AoE2 on PS2 was quite good because it allowd player to use mouse and KB, but this gen it seems like RTS devs will just let you use pad on console RTSes, without giving you a mouse option

It actually does have a little learning curve. Just keep at the arcade stick and over time you'll see the potential for being able to be a lot more efficient. It won't come after just one day. Believe me I was in your shows at one point as well.

yeah but i just cant understand. people say its a lot more accurate and easier to pull off combos but the actual buttons and the stick impede my ability. i cant pull off hadokens, dragon uppercuts or even pull off combos in the tekken arcades. is there a certain way to pull the stick. i find it extremely hard to pull off a quarter circle, i cant imagine how people cope with zangief's special moves.

Because consoles aren't open end platforms. So devs need to conform with what comes inside the box of the console, other wise it won't do well. If you look at the history of consoles and what happens when they try to add expansion hardware, it never ever sells well. Its the same reason why from one perspective devs could utilize the 360 HDD more, but since not everyone has it then they need to take them into consideration first. If consoles came with the K & M right outside the box, then the system would have no issues doing RTS and MMOs.

PC is different since it is a open ended platform, which means that you have to conform to the devs standards. So if the game requires you to have XXX amount of ram, this type of video card etc. Then you will need to buy it to play. But since the PC is a platform that's all about options, getting peripherals and other add ons is never seen as big deal.

I would say that playing Zangief would be a hell of a lot easier with a stick then a pad. 360 grapplers definately need a stick.

I suggest you play Forza_2 as he is a lot better then I am. I am also way out of practice because you can't play on a stick when its being modifyed and reconstructed :P

I tried modding my Arcade stick and it broke the next day. Everything stoped working so i had to buy another one. But it would've been great playing you, maybe someday we can MvC2 or SFlll or GGX2 or maybe even SF4. :)

I don't think an arcade stick can just break after a mod. I mean whatever you did could be reveresd or fixed. So what exactly were you trying to do and what happened.

I know a lot about PC and I know enough to say I would never play a fighting game on my PC unless it was freeware

I'd be much more comfortable playing on my console.

At first i was trying to fix it, the roundhouse button didnt respond sometimes so fixed it. After that i modded it by taking out 2 unsessary buttons, curved the buttons and switched some as well (to match the arcade style) and that was it. It worked fine but the next day it stoped responding completly,

If consoles came with the K & M right outside the box, then the system would have no issues doing RTS and MMOs.

And if PCs came with game controllers they wouldn't suck for fighting games.

Yeah, the X-arcades stock stick and buttons aren't too hot. Used to have a friend with one. I'd recommend HRAP or MAS systems for a stick. You can get a simple USB/playstation2 adapter and have a stick that works on the PC as well.

I guess PC sucks for everything since it only can do what you add to it. It sucks because it doesn't come with a good graphic card, it sucks because it doesn't come with speakers, a monitor, a soundcard, a modem, a keyboard and mouse, a atx case, a psu etc etc etc. See your logic there?

[QUOTE="mexicangordo"]I tried modding my Arcade stick and it broke the next day. Everything stoped working so i had to buy another one. But it would've been great playing you, maybe someday we can MvC2 or SFlll or GGX2 or maybe even SF4. :)Blackbond

I don't think an arcade stick can just break after a mod. I mean whatever you did could be reveresd or fixed. So what exactly were you trying to do and what happened.

At first i was trying to fix it, the roundhouse button didnt respond sometimes so fixed it. After that i modded it by taking out 2 unsessary buttons, curved the buttons and switched some as well (to match the arcade style) and that was it. It worked fine but the next day it stoped responding completly,

Are the microswitches connected properly?

yes, my brother is an engineer so he helped me a bit. He said that the wires are fried but they dont fry just like that. O well, the new sticks i have are aright but not half as decent as my old ones.

Well if the wires are fried you could always get new wiring and new Quick Disconnects and have your brother solder them up since he is an engineer and all. But since you already got a new stick you could at least use the old stick for spare parts or fix it up one day if you decide too.

I was thinking about that but im to afraid to mess these up, lol. I could have my bro do it for me, he says he could easily do it, but im afraid of having to pay yet another 80 bucks for a decent stick.

And if PCs came with game controllers they wouldn't suck for fighting games.

Ramadear

I guess PC sucks for everything since it only can do what you add to it. It sucks because it doesn't come with a good graphic card, it sucks because it doesn't come with speakers, a monitor, a soundcard, a modem, a keyboard and mouse, a atx case, a psu etc etc etc. See your logic there?

i was just using your argument against you. i don't actually think that...

How was it against me? Unless you didn't read or have trouble reading. My point was that PC is a open end platform where you need to build it to your liking. You responded with saying how if PC games came with controllers then they wouldnt suck for fighting. PC doesn't come with ANYTHING, everything is custom unless you buy a pre-built machine which is STILL custom. You may think you were using what I was saying against me. But its more like, you were attempting to use what you THINK I said against me, all due to your misunderstanding.
