If Square pulls this off for the PS3, Sony might be doing a little better than expected. FF7 is an amazing game, and it deserves to be remade with better graphics, sound quality, and video. 

If they remade FFVII I would freaking blow my mind. Next-gen graphics, sound, animations, textures.....maybe add more audio. And add more content, new character to play as (different perspective...like rachel in ninja gaiden sigma), new weapons, new enemies, etc.

I was going to shell out $600 for a PS3 anyway......but if all I'd need to shell out was $60, I'd be so dam happy.

I didn't really go for the Derge of Cerberus games, but man, with Crisis Core and Advent Children Blu-ray as well as this FF7-remake coming out, Square can milk all they want out of me and my fellow FF fans ^^  I will gladly fork out the money.

Bravo! Then we both know how awesome the game is - think of all the people that haven't played Final Fantasy 7 (or any other FF for that matter) this game is a good one to start ^^ ! It's not like Square-Enix is remaking FF7 for you or me, it's for everyone.

Ok, here's what they should do, To once and for all put an end to the Blu-Ray is needed for next gen bit and sell one HELL of a lot of consoles...

Re-make Final Fantasy 7 8 and 9, revamp the graphics and sound and leave everything else in tact...

Put it on 1 Blu-Ray disc.

Uh, that magazine scan on Kotaku is from an EGM that came out quite a while ago. Square-Enix has denied that a remake is in the works and all signs put to it remaining that way. Sorry.Basinboy

Just like Konami and Kojima denied making any more Metal Gears? Just like APE denied another Earthbound constantly? You'll have to realize that FF7 remake = $$$ for Sqaure. They have been sizing us up with FF7 spinoff products since KH1 through Advent Children. They will more than likely milk this remake no matter how many times they deny it.

I really hope gaming doesn't go the way the movie industry is now going, and re-making every good movie they can get their hands on.

Having said that, FF7 is one of my favorite games of all time and no doubt a next-gen PS3 version would be amazing. But when they heck can't SquareEnix make something new instead of whoring out the good name of Final Fantasy? 

I will probably get the FFVII remake. Only because my father threw out all of my Playstation games. I'm still trying to get him to pay for them. :( majadamus

 They are making it because they are losing money and need something to milk, which happens to be FF7 the best game they made.

Look, I'm not saying it can't happen, but the articles you linked to are all dated from 2006 and 2005; that's anything but a confirmation.  Nothing has officially been announced and all rumors have been denied, which is what those articles are.

if this game is real, heres what i want from it...

EXACT SAME GAME. no "improvements" . the only thing id ever want added to the game is more side missions.

graphics boost. with game with graphics would be awesome, especially if they keep the camera angles.

voice acting. it would be great with voice acting.

SAME SONGS. i loved the FF7 music, all id want is a sound upgrade. same songs, better quality.

if square made this game, and they made it like that, it would be a happy day for me.
