The Remake is true...You can deine it or anything. It is obvious they are remaking VII. Remember they pulled Tactics from production...And look what happened. Several months later. Remake on PSP.

FFVII...They still make new copies of VIII, IX, Chronicles, Origins, Anthology, Chronicles...Why is it this is the only one they are not making new copies of? Because they are remaking it obvously. I mean why would they pull thier most sucessful game ever from production?Unless to reduce supply for a remake lol. No other reason not to.

if you looks on the date of that article its 5/31/06. after the FVII tech demo, they focused on FFXIII. old and fake.

although i do really want a FFVII remake. really bad. a great reason for me to get a PS3.

I doubt they're remaking it, and if they were remaking it, I doubt it would be on PS3.  It'd probably be on the Wii.

Let's see: remaking a game for $20 million dollars and putting it on the console with the smallest userbase versus remaking it for $10 million and putting it on the console who, at this point in time, looks to have the biggest userbase within the next 12 months.

It's a no brainer.  Too bad they're not remaking it, though.

they shoudnt change a thing about the game, and just make it avaliable for download at a low price. the graphics may be dated but it's still one of the best game on the series,.Mizarus

If Square pulls this off for the PS3, Sony might be doing a little better than expected. FF7 is an amazing game, and it deserves to be remade with better graphics, sound quality, and video.

I didn't say it WON'T happen, I'm just saying its not happening now.  If anything, I'd expect a true sequel if they were working on a FF7 project. But a year old EGM article based on fanboy hopes and dreams is not confirmation.

how am i a hypocrite? oh well if remaking FF7 is such a good thing, why stop there? why not remake the whole FF series? hell why not just remake every bankable nes/snes/genesis/ps1? screw new games, lets just replay tried and true stories over and over and over. people like you are the reason devs don't try to be innovative. as long as this new 'game a' feels/looks/plays like 'game b', they can make a fortune just making tweaks to other games and slapping a new title on it. no wonder it was so hard for team ico to get noticed, or the games like katamari games to be ignored unless someone in the industry says 'hey you should buy this'. the old FFs had their place, let the devs concentrate on new I.P.s, not recycled stories we all pretty much know by heart.

It's not about that first there are no new genres coming out it's all been done. every new game takes elements from past games so everygame is basically just a new story, oh now you press more buttons but it plays the same. i rather Play a Remake FF7 since they can add more stuff to it. like maybe make the game longer and make multiple endnings and maybe multiple paths maybe you can get to aeris before she dies. who cares i rather buy a remake for the PS3 than buy the old Copy for 40.

Thats the thing though, have they still got what it takes to make a new innovative game that can is on par with there older RPGs, the ones that where fun.... apparently not, ff12=floptastic... so they may aswell remake one of the best games of all time FF7.

I would like Final Fantasy VII to be remade because I can't start a new game on my old one due to a damaged disc. Once it gets past the opening cutscene its fine though.

this won't be good second time round for me, played this when i was a kid, spend hours and hours. I'd rather play the old one.

I never played the original FF7 when it was released and took a shot at it in 2002 when I got tired of playing Halo (the new roommate had it) and I just couldn't get into it.  I have been debating getting a copy and playing it, but have been holding out hoping that they do a remake of it.  Apparently I may have made the right decision.  SWEET.  Score for me! :)

they have remade ff1-6 for ps1 and released remakes of the early ff titles on the gameboy, and nobody is forcing YOU to play any of them so dont get so wound up by it
