Cant wait till this game gets remade, I loved FF7, hell 7-9 were imo the best ones in the entire series, whereas 10 (along with X-2) and 11 were crap, 12 is alright but a lot different from the previous installments in terms of combat system but the story was good. I shall be picking it up when it is released.
Such rumors are around since Sony showed the tech demo of a revamped FF7 Intro at a Press conference (see link). Since then people talk about the possibility, but there is nothing announced...

3rd'd. FF10 was nothing more then a 60 hour movie with some gameplay thrown in, and even that was terrible. I want to slap the person who created that stupid orb map system, it sucked and was a pain to work with.

He's BSing. All of the articles directly referencing FFVII are dated from 2005 (the interview with Nomura occurred before KH2 was released) and May of 2006. The article referring to the secret FF game is from December and it's believed that game is Final Fantasy Haeresis XIII.

Oh c'mon I dont know how many times I've seen Nintendo do the same thing with their franchises. I mean there are like 7 Super Mario Worlds across the GBA and DS.

good luck with that. when square saw how gamers ate up that subpar matrix reject(lets throw in completely pointless stunts, slow mo slathered all over the place, and acrobatics that are impossible to do with the human body!) known as Advent Children, they realized they had a goldmine just waiting to be dug until the day it collapses on them. then they'll just move to the next game to whore out.

He got fired and made a game called Blue Dragon that was on 3 discs...it too was a movie with a terrible leveling system...apparently he somehow matters now....
LMAO that is pretty bad FF7 is a great game like TEN YEARS AGO. How are you cows happy about this??? All you get is over year old ports. pretty much hand me downs from 360 and PC. Now you get a remake of FF7. What is next a remake of Super Ms. pac-man? I mean is your still waiting on Fear! How long ago did that game come out for PC and 360. Sony fanboys = OWNED. Heck one of the biggest games for PS3 is NG:S and that is a 3 year old port from X-box not 360 but the last gen system.

They will charge full price for it. Developing Final Fantasy VII for the PS3 will still cost Square Enix millions, and there's a chance it may not sell as well as it did the first time. Square may not make it at all. They may instead opt on a direct sequel - Final Fantasy VII-2.Â
They should definitely do it. There is nothing wrong with remakes of old games. If people don't like them, then let them know by not buying them. Also, I agree with one of the posters who posted that this is hypocrisy at its finest when Sony fanboys try to criticize others for remakes and they in turn get excited for a remake.
Meh as a person who has beaten every Numbered Final Fantasy I do not I repeat do not want a remake. Maybe a port on PSP or DS but not a remake. Square-Enix should concentrate their efforts on FFXIII and new IP's rather then to make a game that already been played by its fans over and over. I don't see Nintendo remaking Zelda OOT why are they remaking FFVII?

True, but this would be a very costly and expensive remake considering it's being done for the PS3 and will require a complete overhaul in graphics, sound and design. The game will look completely different. It will be a huge project for Square-Enix that would rival that of Final Fantasy XIII - it will cost the company millions
I have no doubt that everyone who is a huge fan of the original game will buy it, but then you also have your casual gamers and those who didn't like VII who may not buy it, and then you have those who already played it, won it, and don't want to play it again. I don't think that a Final Fantasy VII remake would sell more than a brand new Final Fantasy game.
hmm. FFVII is one of my favourite games ever. it remains the pinnacle of the series imho. im not sure about a remake though to be honest.
the origonal graphics had alot of charm and sense of character about them despite there low graphics detail (or perhaps because of..think about it :P). i could always tell when a character was sad or angry or whatever. i fear that square would dump all this in the pursuit technical excellence which would be a terrible shame.
There other FFVII stuff has also been absolute tripe imho, a disgrace that tarnishes the good name.

now if only i could get a PS1 memory card so i could play the game again, i still have it in good condition :D.Â
