I've gotta admit, that looks as bad as the voice acting was. Would not hype this and I'm a Final Fantasy fan.

Koei Tecmo is behind this thing. They're behind one of the worst series in the whole industry, which is Dynasty Warrior games. They looks like shit. Run like shit. Optimized by three monkeys in a case. Don't be surprised this is as fugly, and we aren't really seeing how poorly it runs cuz it guaranteed to be a shit show.

No, the developer is Team Ninja, which is owned by Koei Tecmo. When it comes to hack & slash games, Team Ninja is one of the best developers of the genre (along with Capcom and Platinum Games).

Another quality game (cant see it myself but others on here are hyping it up) coming to series X.

The games just keep on coming.

I know the dev is TN, but everything that is owned by Koei Tecmo is a mess. TN can produce good combat systems, but that doesn't mean its not heavily flawed in so many other ways.

seems that its not be made by the same team that is behind nioh in Team Ninja but other group....

This looks as much as Team Ninja as Transformers was Platinum.

But the most important part is the gameplay. That's the part we've seen very little of. If it's by Team Ninja, then the gameplay should be good. The story and art design looks terrible so far, but that's the fault of Square Enix, not Koei Tecmo.

The video game industry is now worth billions of dollars, but even major publishers like Square-Enix cannot hire competent talent to do high-quality English voice-acting?

For me, bad voice-acting is a deal-breaker for any game.

Fingers crossed that you can turn off those terrible English dubs and use subtitles instead. I always turn off English dubs when playing Japanese games.

First impression gang here.... ok wow game is actually pretty fun! As expected from Team Ninja. Too bad its not exclusive just the kind of game I'd rub on everyone's face. Very loot heavy like Nioh, you will get equipment drops by defeating enemies and have job classes, which I suspect lvl up same as weapon proficiency in Nioh game. It could easily be a day one purchase but usually these multiplat titles tends to be less polished and more deliberate in cutting up base game for dlc story so idk, also Square dlc efforts usually is some greedy business so will have to see.

@sakaixx: I just played about an hour myself! Posting my impressions as well:

• Way more fun and interesting than the trailer let's on
• Like Nioh but has more of an action game feel to it
• Combat has a learning curve but is satisfying
• Unlike Nioh, can switch classes on the fly! Can go from melee character to magic character at the touch of a button
• Very challenging, more so than Nioh. It's more offense oriented.
• Computer teammates suck.
• Felt like I was playing the ps4 version instead of the ps5 version.
• Lots of loot and customization like Nioh. The whole shirt thing in the trailer was just a snippet from the demo meant to start you off with nothing.
• Love the final fantasy enemies and how they react to your tactics. I.e. you can make the fire ball guy use self destruct if you throw enough fire balls at em lol.
• The soul shield takes time getting used to but the ability to absorb enemy moves is awesome.
• Very much feels like a final fantasy game!

is the ingame resolution like 540p?

@SolidGame_basic: computer AI definitely sucked. they dont even attack unless you attack which then they will help a bit. Glorified cheerleader lol. Also I hope Team Ninja address the world its so dark and edgy give it a bit more color, even the overworld looks so grim. Maybe part of the story? Kind of like in Dragon Quest Builder the world is muted and you have to bring life back. Lastly performance is so bad, I give them the benefit of doubt as apparently this is just alpha.

Anyhow glad they actually released the demo right after the awful trailer cause the reaction for the trailer so far been very negative. Hope Square expand the demo to PS4 and other console for people to try. There is a gem beneath this.

beat the boss, the visuals could def use some work, the IQ is horrible and the game dips to like 20fps on the performance mode(didnt test the other mode yet). The gauge system is pretty interesting, its not as fluid as Nioh and you wont be chaining up same kind of comboes but it's still pretty good and maybe it expands more with full game

Anyways, the game is solid with the overall mechanics, customization and fighting styles. However, the game is visually rough. I am not sure what resolution it was running at but it felt below 1080p and the frame rate was not stable. The game looks like a 360 game and that is not an exaggeration. Overall promising but they need to improve on the game's visuals and performance.

It really is very dark and muted. Yea, the demo made me hyped for this game. The trailer was a pretty crappy job by the marketing team. Maybe it was a rush job lol.
