Final Fantasy XV... thoughts?

Excited?  Disappointed?  Don't care?

For me its just the final nail in the coffin for my FF fandom.  I started with the series in 1991 and today I call it quits.  FF has been weak for an entire gen and now it looks like they're just descending even further going into next gen.

Personally, I think its embarrassing that they would take a spin off that failed to meet release through an entire generation (an extended gen at that) and then re-brand it into their next gen debut title for their flagship series.

Sad on one hand, but a relief on the other.  I'm done.

Seriously though, very impressed.  More impressed about KH3.

After FFXIII and the trailers don't care too bargin bin level interest.

Too little, too late. Had it come out 3-4 yrs ago, what they showed would have probably looked amazing... but it looked really "last gen" for a PS4 game and while the game play looked interesting, I wasn't really floored by it.

That said... I'm still likely to buy it. I just don't have high expectations for it.

Cautious but I'd lie if I said I wasn't interested. I still hate the character designs but that's just a nitpick.

Could be neat. At least Square isn't lying to us anymore and saying it's like the old FF games. I am hoping we get an old FF type game some day though. :( tagyhag

.... and now this pile of shit.  Wow.  So much for new and exciting.  SE is dead to me now.

It's actually not confirmed it's still coming to PS3. I wouldn't count on it, personally.

Thats sounds like a confirmation to me, anyways i personally wouold rather it stays only on PS4 but PS3 does make sense still since it was announced in there too then again what was announced on PS3 was versus and this is FF15 lol

If you can not comprehend something so simple then my time would obviously be wasted in explaining it to you.

I'm glad it showed off vertical gameplay. It's really the one element that I feel is missing from current gen titles. As a whole, the new engine looks phenomenal, showing off much better integration of pure visual feast for the eyes and impactful real time events that impact game play. I'm liking how the combat looks at the moment, all real time, responsive, movement oriented, fluid animations, not turn based.

As a person who doesn't enjoy final fantasy, the gameplay looked awesome. Can't wait (EDIT: Scratch that, I can wait. Its the KH3 hype thats left me feeling that way, lol).

Yeah.  I guess it all makes sense.  People that like FF these days dont really care for the aspects that put the series on the map.  Its a completely different fanbase.

Oh well, its been a long time coming and I'm no longer part of the target audience.  Time to move on.

Looks impressive although the whole crouching behind cover thing isn't what FF is about, I have to say though it already looks better than FF13,FF13-2 and that crappy Lightning Returns.

ya, I think that's a great point. I've always been impressed by final fantasy production value, not so much the turn based game play. But FFXV looks to be quite different from the rest of the series. It's looking to have incredible production value, thats a given. At the same time, the game footage showed alot of realy time combat, both horizontal, and vertical, in the spirit of devil may cry; that's really exciting. 

In the end, the reveal really left me with more questions: how will combat with a party work? How will the RPG elements factor into combat?

You're arguing extremes.  It doesnt have to be one or the other.

You can evolve a game structure well.  Plenty of devs do.  Even Square used to do it well.

I dont want an exact copy/paste old school FF.  I was perfectly content with them evolving the series radically for years.

But this stuff is unrecognizable.

I'll buy it.  Few game developers spend as much time and effort on games anymore.  Even if the story is weird Japanese stuff.. it'll have great productions values and be worth my time.

I was genuinely curious as to what made you think it was a spin off. It's the first time I've seen a person call it that. But alright, if you absolutely refuse. No one's holding you at gun point.

It actually has me interested again after the horrid FF13 titles.

1.  Stop acting stupid.

2.  We all know its a spin off.  Never intended to be a main game.  Just an off-shoot of the (ill recieved) XIII universe that SE has been trying to shove down our throats for years.  By their own words.

It shares no core similarities with any of the games.  Not in theme, not in setting, not in gameplay mechanics.  Its only a FF game because that is what SE decided to call it.  And they called it that just for the sake of branding = profits.  Nothing more.
