Before any console fanboys come in saying that looks great, it looks like crysis on low with a few settings on medium.

Your full of crap im playing Crysis on all low settings and it looks like crap. im early in the game at the school after you destroy the two tanks the koreans send in after you find the hostage. The videos and screens i seen of the console version of crysis demo looks like high settings from when i played it on a 9800gt. Hermits will be pissed and consolites are lucky fools to even get cryengine 3 on theyre weak azz consoles. Truth hurts eh?

It's certainly not high, it's mostly medium with a few low. Plus less in terms of volumetric effects. Still good by console standards, and gives a lot of engines a run for their money, from what we've seen so far.

It looks terrible, face it. Looks terrible compared to Cry Engine 2. It's just sad that some people settle for something that is so downgraded.

Looks like low to me too.
This is High
This is low
As predicted, consolites are comparing it to the close corridors, faked lighting and scripted physics of Kz2 and GeoW2 instead of appreciating what Crytek have done. The scale and physics are beyond anything the consoles have seen so far.
loco145
Console only gamers should feel lucky they have this engine.

On Low, the game looks worse than Far CryThats just being selective with your shots

Not really I was playing the game before I hopped on to SW. I took a cap while playing. I just went back and took the same cap just on low. Any game on low looks like crap.Dude that footage is just just techdemo showing engine running on consoles. that crap is so early lol the machinegun shoots out rockets ahah, they didnt even add rocket launcher gun model yet.I think Far Cry looked better. :?
agentfred
im guessing that's ps3 version lol, but what makes texture look really bad is lack of anisotropic filtering.yuck, those textures are as bad as killzone 2s.

I just watched the video. It looks to be mostly medium mixed with low settings. However, it doesn't look that bad, certainly better than any game I've seen on consoles. It even has some destructibility, albeit the framerate was pretty crappy in some parts even on the video. By the way, stop acting like a fanboy please.[QUOTE="AnnoyedDragon"]
Just throwing my own low Vs medium screen in.
lundy86_4
yep I think that shows that the PS3/360 Cryengine 3 tech demo is pretty much a mix of low/med PC settings
The effects settings are higher though, some of it is on par with High. Its WAY WAY WAY ahead of low, the only thing that it has in common is the view distance which isnt medium quality. Still though, far-off detail hardly matters when its the stuff up-close is what you are looking at
What are you guys talking about. Looks like low/medium/high/mixed settings? You all know it's going to be a little better and a little worse at most things, but all in all it will be a fixed setting not much better than any current console FPS. It's CE2 for consoles basically. It's an improved Dunia.

I think people are thinking too much in terms of low, medium and high. The game can have some settings at low, some at medium and some at high; it doesn't have to be limited to within a specific setting.

Yup some of the effects from the tech demo were great. Either way it's a really good engine, that we could see in some killer games with great graphics. It's win/win for consolites

Yeah offcourse, like those horrid textures, thats better than low, but worse than Med. The important thing is we saw a demo, and in real-time too, not crappy frame-by-frame. Once CryTek have a game up and running, they can then retrofit it for the consoles. Even with consoles, we see game improve graphically from alpha footage (or not...) but in this case, yes.[QUOTE="FirstDiscovery"]

Yeah they were great, but the textures still stuck out, and the part where you saw into the medium distance, that wasnt too hot. The RAM is the killer here[QUOTE="lundy86_4"][QUOTE="FirstDiscovery"]

The RAM is the killer hereExactly, I hope the next gen consoles actually utilize some serious ram. Obviously it's not as easy as just sticking ram in there as teh consoles are such closed consoles it's prbably not compatible, but seriously. At least 1gb maybe 2 and that would be awesome
It looks really nice in motion though (considering that it's on consoles).WTF is that?
It looks so bad.......

Could this have been any more of a "NO DURRRR!!!"
We say High/Medium/Low/Whatever just to give the overall look a statement. When someone says they play a game on High, they usually mean somethings are on High, somethings are maxed, but some things like soft shadows, anisoptric filtering, anti-aliasing are turned off.
I can't see any possible legitimate reason for you to have missed this.
you can't judge the engine by some crappy compressed 720p videoMcdonaIdsGuySo you're saying that we can't judge the engine yet...
this engine will poop over any console engine.McdonaIdsGuy... and then IMMEDIATELY proceed to judge the engine. I see a future in politics for you.
The scale and physics are beyond anything the consoles have seen so far.loco145I really don't see the big deal with Crysis' open levels. Really, the only variety you get is "snipe everyone from the back", "snipe everyone from the side", "snipe everyone from the other side", or "storm in the front and shoot the place up". And that's presuming you're not rewarded for your exploring with a 10-second countdown to death because you strayed off the path the developers set for you.
If it's scale you want, look at GTA IV. It's both big and densely packed, unlike Crysis. And it's been running just fine on consoles, thankyouverymuch.
Oh... My ... God ...
Did you just compare GTA IV to Crysis?
That's ... so much fail I can't even think of a word for it.
GTA4 has an outstanding visual design and that's a fact, and on PC it's a technical powerhouse. I'm a PC gamer and I like GTA4's visuals a lot more that I do Crysis'Oh... My ... God ...
