RTS: Strategizing isn't fun. You are constantly thinking of what to do next. In FPSs, you get a gun, and you know what to do with it. Occasionally, you duck and cover, but that's where the strategy ends. A game with strategy in mind just isn't much fun at all. I don't play games to think. I play games to beat the crap out of other people.

How old are you, 8?

13. Almost 14.

lol and you think SMG is too kiddy for you and you play FPS.......... BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, come on. I understand the game wants to appeal to kids, as well as adults, but they take the approach too far. Colorful rainbows and other crap just don't seem to... fit. All my friends agree with me on this one.

Don't make it like Conker. Just make it, you know, sort of... realistic. You know?

I agree with you, they should make two versions of everygame, the first one is the kiddy realistic and the other one is the realisitilty of the eviling worldwide appeal.

You mean like this?

You probably don't have enough brain cells to: 1.) memorize and react to combos, 2.) comprehend a good story and 3.) think of brilliant strategies. that's why you only like FPS.

Listen, I don't mean to offend people when I say this, but...

You guys think you are hardcore because you play these extremely slow paced JRPGs or crappy stealth games with incredibly complicated sotrylines that everyone pretends to understand so they can seem smart.

Right.

First person shooters is your favorite genre. Sure, people are different, but most people would rather have ice cream over a bucket of poop, right? First person shooters is the ice cream, while every other genre is the poop. Deep down inside, you know you love first person shooters more than any genre out there. You guys just try to act hardocre by pretending that you like these crazy Japanese anime crap. No, those types of games don't really pick up speed until the mid-way point, and by then, nothing makes sense. Throw in extremely cheesy dialogue and you have yourself a winner.

Now, I'm not just going to post this with baseless claims. I'll give you some reasons why my favorite genre is first person shooters, and why your favorite genre is first person shooters:

RTS: Strategizing isn't fun. You are constantly thinking of what to do next. In FPSs, you get a gun, and you know what to do with it. Occasionally, you duck and cover, but that's where the strategy ends. A game with strategy in mind just isn't much fun at all. I don't play games to think. I play games to beat the crap out of other people.

JRPGs: Long drawn out storylines with extremely slow paced game play.

Fighters: Memorize button combos. That's the game right there.

Platformers: Were only fun back in the day when FPSs sucked. Frustrating to the max and lacking any sort of purpose aside from running around aimlessly wondering what to do next.

I could go on, but you get the point. FPSs, and a few other genres (action adventure), I feel, is the only established genre that is fun. I'd take Turning Point over Super Mario Galaxy every day. The latter is just too kiddy with boring game play. On top of that, it's too easy. Turning Point sucks, but at least I can, you know, actually enjoy what I'm doing.

So in the end, FPSs are hella fun. You can pretend you like exploring and solving puzzles, but it's time to admit it: Zelda sucks. Metal Gear Solid sucks. Final Fantasy sucks. Call of Duty 4... is legendary.

SouljaBoyHater

So you mean FPS is the prefered and only choice of the simple minded people ? Then i agree with you.

Truth is:

I don't hate Galaxy or platformers at all. I just said that to seem like I have a better argument. I enjoy Galaxy, but I do enjoy FPSs more.

Also, check my other thread. It's basically and apology for acting so mean before.

I admit that we get tons of FPSs. That's true, but we need more... quality ones, like Call of Duty 4 or Halo 3. I could never get into Half Life 2.

I also wouldn't mind another game along the lines of GEARS OF WAR 2!

Based on your posts, I think I know why. ;)

Well, I am midly retarded...

But no, really, Half Life 2 is like poo. I want to like it, because it is so visually and artistically pleasing, but the smell (sound) and vomit-inducing stickiness (bad game play) make me turn off from it.

JRPGs: Long drawn out storylines with extremely slow paced game play. (some like that, your opinion /= fact)

Fighters: Memorize button combos. That's the game right there. (smash begs to differ, theres also always making your own combos, blocking and stuff)

Platformers: Were only fun back in the day when FPSs sucked. Frustrating to the max and lacking any sort of purpose aside from running around aimlessly wondering what to do next. (now just because you suck at platformers dosen't mean the platformers suck, many would find them the best genre.)

Actually FPS are my least favorite genre. I mean yeah I do enjoy running around shooting people but honestly after about half an hour it's boring. Turn corner shoot someone, turn other corner shoot again, go around the next corner and wouldn't you beleive it there's someone else to kill. I much rather play an RTS or RPG.

HAZE-Unit

I take it you haven't played an FPS in recent years.

There's some difficult situations you are put through. For example, Call of Duty 4 has a tree, and you can shoot a bee-hive on that tree to make all the bees attack the soldiers! Just a little example of how there is more to it than "just shooting."

You could also transform into a monkey in Uncharted, did you know that?

Huh? How?

Sorry that cracked me up. It's people like you who are the reason FPS's like Halo 3 and CoD4 are showered with praise. There's a reason Valve is the most respected FPS developer out there, they make the best, most innovative FPS's. Every year that a Valve game comes out,all other shooters pale in comparison.

Then why is there more wordly praise for Halo and Call of Duty?

I asked my friends, and honest to God, none of them even knew what Half Life was. Guess how many knew what Halo or Call of Duty was?

ironic how hl2 has outsold them

you obvisoly haven't played farcry (pc), crysis, hl2 ep2 or stalker those are all far from that, you just describe the generic junk the gaming world is saturated with. I would be really board of fps if it was all, doom, quake, halo, moh, prey etc etc

I play games to beat the crap out of other people.

first person shooters are wayyy overdone nowadays. seems like thats all we been getting. i want more RPGs, i dont care if they are western or jrpgs i just want more of them.

and some more platformers (they are going extinct)

also if rpgs are so bad, why are we seeing so many hybrid fps/rpgs?

[QUOTE="goblaa"]Well that's a load of crap. Hell, the less FPS's the better these days. We're swamped with them.SouljaBoyHater

I admit that we get tons of FPSs. That's true, but we need more... quality ones, like Call of Duty 4 or Halo 3. I could never get into Half Life 2.

I also wouldn't mind another game along the lines of GEARS OF WAR 2!

 you are the very defintion of casual and you lecture everyone else about thinking they are hardcore

Classic.

lol and you think SMG is too kiddy for you and you play FPS.......... BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, come on. I understand the game wants to appeal to kids, as well as adults, but they take the approach too far. Colorful rainbows and other crap just don't seem to... fit. All my friends agree with me on this one.

Don't make it like Conker. Just make it, you know, sort of... realistic. You know?

I agree with you, they should make two versions of everygame, the first one is the kiddy realistic and the other one is the realisitilty of the eviling worldwide appeal.

oh yes and the passion and vision of the creators can go to hell right? :P

You didn't get it, if two versions of every game is developed then the problem is solved, everybody would be happy. :P

Truth-slayer

I take it you haven't played an FPS in recent years.

There's some difficult situations you are put through. For example, Call of Duty 4 has a tree, and you can shoot a bee-hive on that tree to make all the bees attack the soldiers! Just a little example of how there is more to it than "just shooting."

You could also transform into a monkey in Uncharted, did you know that?

Huh? How?

By staring at trees for 1 hour, he is gonna try so much, until the last second of the hour, he will transform.

You can even hear him say "I want to be a monkey" and "I love monkeys and bananas".

WOW, Can you really shoot down a beehive to make the bees attack the soldiers in COD4.

That really makes FPSes the best.

I have done that ( or something similiar) in almost EVERY SINGLE GENRE. ( yes, even racing)

Anyways, I hope you, mr TC will soon realize what a complete weird guy you are making yourself seem.

ps. What do you think of 3rd person shooters (Max payne?)

What are you....5? Variety is the spice of life kid.householdman

Go tell that to your woman.

... sorry couldn't resist :P

Nah I agree. When I get tired of the same genre, I make the switch to another game. Variety is indeed a good thing.

See that is just simply your opinion. Why do you try to convince everybody to see it your way?
