For all of you hoping for a 3DS Lite...

On topic........Nintendo wouldn't want to admit they are working on a revision of the 3DS because it would stifle sales of the current 3DS - even more so. Okay sure, maybe they're not working on one at this very second, but a newer version will inevitably come out.

Ultimately, it is his job to deny speculation about future products, anything that would cut into sales. And that's what he does. Not that I necessarily believe a Lite is being created (I think an XL is far more likely anyway), but this kinda comment also in no way decreases the chance that another form factor (and for that matter, more colors) will be announced over the next 5-6 months.

3DS lite won't be out until DSi and DSiXL sales have slowed down significantly, i.e. before the full on transition to 3DS has been made, imo.

Next year's holiday will be Wii U focused, I'd say 2013 the earliest for a 3DS lite.

I wouldn't expect for at least two years though

LOL there is one in the works right now and a XL version too there is no way Nintendo will break their tradition.

I'm expecting it by 2013, so of course they won't talk about it yet.

i dont remember gameboy colour or advance ever getting 'lite' versions :/ anyways i would be happy with the normal 3ds version.. I mean its essentially a ds lite and that is a fine size.. smaller =/= better... especially when its already compact

Exactly. They'll deny it until the day they are ready to announce it.

It may not be a "Lite" version, per se. But Nintendo knows this market well, and one of the best ways Nintendo has found to keep a handheld's momentum up is regular redesigns.

Gameboy Color was a redesign/extension of the original gameboy. The GBA had two redesigns: the Gameboy SP and the Gameboy Micro.

I'm sure there will be one, but it's not like the PSP didn't have revisions either.

Yes, Nintendo would publicly admit that they are developing a more sleeker model than the one that's currently on the market. There will be one out sometime next year.sammyjenkis898

From a business perspective, they have every reason in the world to lie and say they have no plans for a 3DS Lite, but come on, we all know they do have plans for one and are in all likelihood working on it right now. I'm sure a hardware revision is next to definete, but I doubt that we'll see a Lite first up. The thing is very compact considering what goes on in there and I'm impressed that it is virtually the same size as the DSi/Lite. That said, I think we'll see an XL kind of revision with fixed battery life, better 3D viewing angle and other minor issues touched up on.

They should make an XL version. The current model is too small, I want a bigger screen.

Of course they wont say there making one, I'm waiting for it to come out anyway, I bought the original ds and never upgraded but wish I did as the ds lite and others looked so much better.

I'm so on the fence with a 3DS purchase. I know there is one possibly being made or will be made in the future. I'll probably cave when the next mainstream Pokemon game comes out.
