Rather that a racing SIMULATOR device it looked more a stomache puking STIMULATOR :)

I think the extra movement was to simulate your shifts in gravity as you accel/decel and on turns.

Its actually a good way to simulate acceleration and deceleration while staying stationary, forget what your seeing, what the person in the rig was feeling would be very similar to actual g's felt while under these conditions. not perfect but good. Also the rig controls elevation aswell, even while its tilting for acceleration/de*.

Not perfect but pretty damn good i'd imagine.

The screen moves with the player, so the exaggerated movements would make it feel realistic even though it doesn't look realistic at all.

When he was going straight it had a significant incline for some reason. Didn't look too good to me. Now the old Top Gun arcade machines is where it's at for this kind of stuff.

I guess you've never been in a real car doing performance driving, have you? There are shifts in the g-forces when going around turns or accelerating/decelerating... and the chair moves to simulate that without the actual movement of a car. The seat's movement is a means of directing the simulation of that movement to the person sitting in the chair, giving them a more realistic feel as if they were actually driving a car.

~~~
And if my memory serves me correct, they had something similar to those paired with Forza 3 at the last E3.
You've never felt real torque before, have you?
The screen and chair/driver move together, so the chair really is still flat with the road. All it does is change the angle of the chair to simulate the forces felt when driving. You're looking into the tv, and not at the stupid looking chair; you see the road, and feel the force of gravity. That's it.
It would be awesome to try out.
That's probably as close as a sim will ever get, but it's still very flawed. Because it rotates the user to "replicate g-forces" you lose the g's of having a normal downforce since the downforce is used to simulate the lateral g's. Oh well, can't be perfect.
Nothing about that game is real. Yes I'm exaggerating a little bit, but all the guns are inaccurate, the way they do things is wrong, it's pretty bad. The only guys that do stealth missions like that are like the Navy Seals. Watch military documentaries and such. You'll see a huge difference.
