Hey, Just sharing some info. Turn 10 realeased a podcast today. They were giving off some info just about general things, no big releases. But it sounds like online is going to be amazing. They are doing it halo/COD style, just with cars. They got playlist and all the lots.

Somone on forzamotorsports.net decided to do a writeup on it, his GT is sn0man 360, He wrote this up, so credit goes to him. I haven't asked toPOST this. Soooo. hopefully he won't be mad. But hes cool, so he shouldnt.

____________________ _______________ _______________________________ ___________________________________ ___________________________________

Disclaimer: This is NOTword for word. This is notes. If I misrepresent something, someone else can fix it in a reply. This is just for those that like to read instead of listen. These are not the EXACT WORDS of Turn10, this is just what I heard. Don't take this as gospel.

1.) You can exportvideoand it will put up a 720p wmv file on forzamotorsport.net

2.) Auto-braking follows the braking line for its braking. You just steer and gas now. They said multiple times that auto-braking is NOT as fast as someone who brakes on their own. It just makes you more consistent.

3.) You get infinite rewinds per race(single player). usingtime rewindwill mark your lap time as "uncertified" along with anytime there is drafting in the same race.

4.) Lap times listed on theleader boardswill be listed as "certified" first and then "uncertified. So the worst certified time will be above the fastest uncertified race.

5.) There is now aclutchbutton, and it is on the left shoulder button on the controller. Hold button, clutch is engaged. Then you shift, then let off of the clutch. There is a missed shift if you don't hit it right. You can damage the car if you miss a shift with sim damage on. The clutch pedal mode is faster than without.

6.) There is now a.) automatic b.) manual and c.) manual + clutch.

7.) In multiplayer there is no rewind, however there is auto-braking. It can be turned off like any other assist.

8.)Auto-upgradesystem. "generally useful script" that adds parts to a car based on top of the **** So pick A **** say auto-upgrade, and it will upgrade the car to the PI at the top of that **** If you can't afford all the upgrades for the top of A, it will get you as close as it can then stop.

9.) Auto-upgrade does NOT auto-tune the car. You must tune the car yourself still.

10.)Multiplayeris now like Halo3 and Call of Duty 4 party type of system now is how multiplayer works in FM3. Meaning there will be prebuilt game types that you can join publicly with your party, or you can just build your own private server with exactly your specifications. Things like vote to kick someone, vote to skip a track on these public servers.

11.) Examples of how public servers will be are ****and type. ie C ****drag, B ****drift, A ****road racing etc.

12.) They monitor our private matches and if a lot of people are playing a certain setup, they can make a new server based on those settings for the public server list.

13.) All multiplayer modes give youcredits. There is no more career or exhibition race. If you race on forza3 in multiplayer (even like cat and mouse) you get credits.

14.) New modesnot just racing. Tag mode where you tag someone they are it. There is smear the *** where someone is it, and they have to be tagged for points. There is also army/virus/zombie tag. There is now elimination mode. Finally there is now cat and mouse mode. It really sounds like they just swiped the halo setup and made it for cars.

15.) Scoring on time or drift or damage or whatever.

16.)Starting gridbased on PI, gamer-score, car type etc.

17.) Delay start, (can)let players have a 5 second lag between starts for instance.

18.) All cars in FM3 get aPerformance Index(PI System). The race-cars ****s are now part of the other cars ****s. For example you can upgrade your car up to the R ****s and through them as well. Some R ****cars now have upgrades that can be done to them as well.

19.) Pi is now calculated on the ability of the car and not the ability of the AI to drive it. In FM2, to calculate PI they had the AI calculated what time it could get with each car. This had 1 flawthat the AI can not drive cars. Usually lots of power and poor tires tripped up the AI. Now in FM3, the capability of the car is represented. They hope (fingers crossed) this is more accurate of the cars potential.
"A virtual track that the system looks at. Literally looks at the cars maximum speed through each turn would be and tries to achieve that speed on every straightaway. The cars accelerate, brake, and corners with maximum perfect friction. The only way a player would be able to achieve that same performance would be to drive the car perfectly."

20.) Power-train swapsnow split into engine and drivetrain swaps.

21.) Canflip carson multiplayer. Just jostle the left stick back and forth and you can rock the car back onto its wheels.

22.) This was mentioned but is NOT confirmed yet. Every weekday (5 days a week) from now until launch 1new carwill berevealedwith pictures and a little write up.

Sounds awesome. Some of it isn't of much use to me as I drive with the assists off and tune myself, but still nice for people who don't. I'd be leery on how the automatic update deals with upgrades to get you to classes, though, as there are many ways to do it and it might take the least efficient route or upgrade power when what you really want is a lighter car with better tires.

Listened to the podcast briefly. Helped clear up a bunch of stuff, I see. Props to Turn 10. I'm liking the idea of a car reveal per day. But just one, so there are still plenty of surprises when the game is released. Looking forward to the end of October.

I think it was on TOCA 2, it was on one of them anyway, never really worked that well. Hopefully the Forza 3 version is much better.

This game looks really good, and just keeps getting better.

Number 10 almost gave me a heart attack untill i read the second sentence. Thats how it should be done devs. Have an option for both matchmaking and setting up your own server and if you have to have one, definately the latter. *looks at EPIC*.

Cluth with pedal faster than one without? Why? I always assumed the manual mode in racing games was just a dual-clutch transmission (shifting gears without holding the cluth), which is way faster than any human being can shift.

I can understand stick shifts being faster than automatics but no, it's not going to be faster than a dual-clutch manual transmission.

forza2 actually got me somewhat interested in racing sims. before i was just interested in arcade racers like trackmania or mario kart or wipeout (and still love em of course. yes im allowed to enjoy both genres SW..dont look at me like that :P). this scalability and (time for a dirty word) accessibility is what got me interested. im a computer guy...i know absolutely nothing about cars and dont really care to learn to be honest (keeping up with computers takes up enough time). all i know about cars is that i want a merc mclaren SLR (i love the sound of the engine) and the bugati veyron is a dam fast car (one of the fastest road cars on the planet i think). basically everything i know about cars comes from top gear....so most of it is probably wrong :P. i remember playin GT1 on the PS1 when i was much younger...and i just couldnt make head nor tail of the upgrade system. the game expected you to know what you were doing. great for petrol heads (and hence its popularity) but dammed if i could figure it out. my cousin had a recipie for a dodge viper though that made the car unbeatable if the driver was at least some what competent (ie he could stay on the track). good times. funnily enough though..im actually more interested in GT5 because of forza2. i will be picking up 3 and will probably pick up GT5 also. big improvement from "GT5....meh".

It runs at 1280 by 1024 with 2x AA (then upscaled to 1080p), it also runs at 720p at 4xAA, which is equal to forza. Also, FM3 has SUVs ans stock cars, and a circle track lol.

I wonder how the clutch will affect cars like the GT-R, 911 w/ PDK, M3 w/ DSG, F430 w/ SMT, etc. that don't actually have a clutch pedal.

No, it runs at 1280 x 1080. They're hardware upscaler won't upscale vertically, only horizontally. Also, it's not the stock cars that matter. There is nothing special about them, its the brand of NASCAR itself. It's a huge spectacle to see all the fans come from all around the US to see it. I live in Indianapolis IN (5 minutes away from Speedway, Indiana) and there are SOOO many people here prepping for Brickyard 400 tomorrow. I personally dislike NASCAR, though I do commend the fact that it is a lot more competitive. NASCARs have a high level of regulation, so all cars are on a level playing field, meaning closer/tighter packs of cars meaning changing of positions more often, etc etc. It's a sight to see. Also, WRC >>>>>>>>> SUV / Truck racing.

It seems Forza 3 is focused more on other things rather than actual racing, but it seems worthwhile. The physics will be up to par of the Forza series but I feel like this series is beginning to get a bit side tracked. Turn 10 said that Polyphony hadn't done anything for them since GT3, then give me race leagues and rally.

This sounds like they are supporting dedicated servers. Hmmmmm.

That's the way I feel to be honest. I think they are focusing too much on other things, like rewind, flipping cars, custom paint jobs, etc to focus on the racing/simulation aspect to the game. I feel they are trying to be the "Jack of all trades" but master of none. I have yet to get the feeling from Forza that each car is 100% unique. They all feel differently etc. I got that feeling from GT, even with the older series with the physics was a lot worse. Hopefully Forza 3 will turn out great though.

I don't think so, most racing games don't need servers. I think its more of a "playlist" kind of feature. They see people playing this new type of game set up, they adapt to it so more people can experience the game type.

"They monitor our private matches and if a lot of people are playing a certain setup, they can make a new server based on those settings for the public server list."

This sounds like they are supporting dedicated servers. Hmmmmm.

I don't think so, most racing games don't need servers. I think its more of a "playlist" kind of feature. They see people playing this new type of game set up, they adapt to it so more people can experience the game type.

They didn't say make a list, they said make a server based on those settings.

I know they said servers, but the words "playlist" (for games, not music) and "servers" are sometimes used synonymously. For example, there are games with servers dedicated to a single game type or game set up, eg. Counter Strike, in which playlists do the same thing, but with P2P. It uses the same concept, in which P2P is also set up similarly to a server, it is just more user oriented for data packet structure. I don't see why they need full fledged servers for a racing game to be honest. I'd rather them (MS) use those servers for FPS games instead. Then again racing games have a lot of data going on. I guess it depends on their packet structure, idk.

Well, I guess we'll know in a few months for sure. It would be nice to see MS adopt a similar strategy from Sony and make their first party stuff have dedicated server support. It's not like they can't do it.

Well, the physics engine runs at 360FPS instead of 240 now, A new huge feauture to the physics engine is tire deformation, not just visually, but how it affects the contact patch, slip angle, and grip. They've talked about how they simulate lift now, so old/ badly designed cars becouse very unstable, maybe prone to flip, at high speeds. They wen't and took notes from the mclaren's F1 simulator, the one that has had tens of millions invested into it. So I think to say that they are not focusing on the simulation aspect enough, is, well, wrong.

^The same could be said about Gran turimso, becouse they are trying to do NASCAR, and RALLY, and f1(kinda), And circuit. I personally don't belive it. But point is, when your looking for something bad to say, you'll always find it.

PLus that wasn't an article from turn 10, that was an article were someone listened to their podcast, interpreted it, and wrote it down. I think they meant playlist, just like how halo does it. (I'm so excited!!!! )

I'm really disappointed to hear that they are gonna be using the Matchmaking setup for the online multiplayer as I hate the whole matchmaking system and what it does. If there is no option to search for games like we could in Forza 2 I'll be extremely disappointed. Everything else sounds good though.
