Sad to see this tooken so much more seriously becouse it's labeled TOP GEAR, where really it's just some guys oppinnion who maintains the website.
Doesn't seem like to hard of a hit though. a little floaty. woo.
Especially considering pholphony has a contract.... IDK.
No biggie in my oppinion.
He's not directly comparing it to GT anyway. They both probable feel too smooth compared to games like NFS Shift, GTR, etc...Sad to see this tooken so much more seriously becouse it's labeled TOP GEAR, where really it's just some guys oppinnion who maintains the website.

Obviously they arent gamers and are comparing the experience to real driving and not other games. Forza might be the best but its still not even close to complete realism. Especialy since their criticism was basically that you dont really feel the road, which is incredibily hard to simulate when the only tactile feedback is a piece of plastic shaking in your hands. You need to full force feedback chair for that.
My care-o-meter just dropped to about zero after reading this. Also, Jeremy Clarkson is fail, biased and anti-American and anti-Japanese car person.Isn't Top Gear that BBC Car show that has a deal with Polyphony so that you can watch their episodes in that game?
EDIT: Here is a link.
EDIT 2: "That game" is GT5:P. Forgot to mention that :PJLF1
So? I literally only watch PBS when it comes to actual TV... If you've never heard of Top Gear, why do you like commenting on the racing games so much.. I don't know of any car enthusiast that has never heard of that show.[QUOTE="zero_snake99"][QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"]
Nope, never heard of it. I watch the History Channel and news channels when I watch tv.

I'm what some would call a tuner, as has been detailed on my blog before. I've never heard of Top Gear and don't care. I don't spend much time on the boobtube. I don't care about the show, if it has hot chick or hot cars, it doesn't matter. I like both things, but I don't care to watch a tv show on it. Deal with it. And FM3 will be AAA and Top Gear will always be another meh tv show.
lol...are you kidding? 'meh tv show'? Really? You haven't even watched it. It's one of the biggest shows in Australia, and it's not even made here.
Maybe you should watch it...It trully is one of the best shows on television.
If Top gear show Gran turismo on their show...it'll be even bigger than it already was. I remember when they did the laguna seca special where they compared the NSX. Hopefully they do it again with the Top gear test track. Imagine...i can't wait for GT..
I think people are ignoring the parts of Top Gear where they play cart darts and try to get killed by Americans.

[QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"]:o I guess it's understandable if you are from the US. Top gear is show to watch if you are a car enthusiast. Hell, it's a show to watch if you know nothing about cars too. My friends and I love watching it even though we know nothing about cars because the guys on the show are hilarious. What's Top Gear?
II_Seraphim_II
I still predict AAA.
Edit: Also, I've heard of Top Gear before, but now that they said something bad about Forza 3, they are the biggest show on earth, with billions of people watching every episode. Forza 3 is a -100,000,000 out of 10 now.
a pretty popular show on discovery channel where a British guy tests out pretty much every single $100k + car on the market...new or old. Top gear is a SNES game[QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"]

Sorry, but all credability of this thread was lost, when it was revealed Top Gear had a deal with Poly. So it's obvious they won't be objective....
lol its funny how people think there credibility is lost because of the polyphony deal or whatever. im sure this writer isnt completly making this sh** up. when you say sometihng like feels like your riding a magic carpet, other people who have expeirience driving will also agree.
My care-o-meter just dropped to about zero after reading this. Also, Jeremy Clarkson is fail, biased and anti-American and anti-Japanese car person. o_O you obviously don't watch the show.. Especially the GT-R episode.. he was all over its cajones.[QUOTE="JLF1"]

Let's take a spin on this, now that they said something bad about forza 3 they are a meh show and don't matter! Forza is a 1000000000000 of 10 ALWAYS!!!!!!!!!!! If anyone could say if a sim was accurate or not it would be these guys.
Yeah... so what? Unless you are actually driving a real car, a simulator is going to feel "detached" because you aren't feeling the shifting weight and g-forces.
And I've kind of noticed that Top Gear are GT fanboys to some extent. I guess the two go hand-in-hand. The motorsports journalism simulator with the motorsports journalists.

Except it's not someone from the show writing it - it's some faceless dude from the magazine who drives a Morris Marina.lulz at the people who post, "i'm a sim racer!" and then say, "what the hell is top gear?". hahaha. i love the test run segments of the show. they give their guests the crappiest cars to drive for 3 laps and beat the time. haha. i remember this one episode (last summer i think) when Jay Leno was the guest, and i think they had him drive a chevy and there's this one part where he had to do a left turn and the camera that captured it was just on the ground, and you can see how fast he drove while turning. pretty epic for a guy that owns a McLaren F1 and a GT-R. @_@
eDIT: lol thank goodness for youtube

lol, I loved that game!
It's one of my favorite games of all time. I still make deals with my bro to get him to play it with me on the good ol' SNES which has yet to RRoD btw.
Its funny but when it comes down to DAMAGE CONTROL lemming beat anything, i mean top gear is the top worlds racing show (honestly asking what is TOP Gear is the same as asking who is gordon freeman!) and lems go as far as to say it means nothing, lol.
i know if id say to a bunch friends that top gear said that about forza they would laugh at forza big time, so mutch for SIM (or GT if he was in the subject)

Up until about a year ago I didn't know what top gear was either. You can't say they are DCing simply because they don't know what top gear is...Top Gear love to hate American things.Marka1700
It would be the same without Clarkson's characteristic abuse of all (most) things foreign. If there were ever a need for someone to be cast as a bigoted, grumpy middle-aged man, Clarkson would be a shoe-in, bless his little cottons.
Funny you don't bring up the fact that they are BUSINESS PARTNERS with POLYPHONY DIGITAL,their opinion is biased as it gets. Its funny but when it comes down to DAMAGE CONTROL lemming beat anything, i mean top gear is the top worlds racing show (honestly asking what is TOP Gear is the same as asking who is gordon freeman!) and lems go as far as to say it means nothing, lol.

It isn't. Some people are just playing dumb. I don't even like cars, and I love the show from time to time :PI didn't realise Top Gear was unknown in the US.

[QUOTE="EmperorSupreme"]I don't think that sounds like a "strong punch" "When things go a bit pear-shaped, the impacts feel nice and solid. But strangely enough, when things are going smoothly, it can feel a bit too, well, smooth. It almost feels like you're driving some kind of magic carpet, hovering just above the track itself. A real feeling of movement and feedback is difficult for a game to accurately create, admittedly, but we couldn't help but feel slightly detached. " He sounds dead on to me, a lot racing games have a hard time capturing what it's like to really be in a car. I heard NFS Shift does a good job with the in car feeling though, haven't played it yet. The same with most shooters, most shooters feel like your moving a floating camera around instead of a soldier with 50lbs of gear. zero_snake99Considering it shows them playing on a racing wheel, you'd think the force feedback is good enough. Most PC racing sims have this aspect down. The cars feel heavy and such. GT5 prologue was the same (the other GT's felt kinda floaty though). the point is and if you watched them compare GT4 to real-life you'd know what the point is- the point is this: I'm sorry racing sim fans but racing sims do not come close to what its like to race a real car. despite the tens of millions spent on making a racing simulator- fact is you gotta take a sports car around a racing track in real life to get real experience.
Freaking love Top Gear! If they have anything to say about cars, it bears listening to. Even if they are virtual cars.ethercoreI love the show, but you should tend to not listen too much to what they say about cars. They're prone to hyperbole or twisting the truth for a more entertaining episode.

yup Clarkson said the same in his weekly column i remember reading it, he said yeah these video games have advanced but still dont actually fully grasp and replicate the real deal.Due to many things Real racing is more unpredictable theres other elements to consider making it a much more intense experience overall.IF you crash you cant just hit some reset or restart button.
And to the people calling bias i wouldnt say so theres no build of GT5's actual release where they can do a comparrasin like with Forza and i can see where they are coming from with the sense of detachment in general with sims and Forza's just looking to be shot down purely cause its the newest one and they keep touting it as realistic you cant beat a car nut when it comes to these kinda comparrasins.
To be bluntly honest they tore GT4 a new one for the same things what makes the diffrence with forza? oh yeah lems suddenly will play down the fact that they have deals with polyphony even though they have been extremely critical of Gran Turismo in the past i dont see how its gonna change with 5.

They might miss any critical comment about a game that will be showing their programme world wide so GT5 fans will actual watch there show. Come on you know how emotional the PS3 fanboy are. If top gear said anything bad about GT5 you would have fanboy getting partition started to stop people watching the show and to get it removed from GT5 in game download/stream.
