Best "car" game? No, Grand Theft Auto 4 already won that title.95+ on both metacritic and gamerankings. If you mean racing simulator then also no.The ladies of the xbox denomination like to state opinions as fact and claim that Forza is the better racing simulator franchise when the GT franchise is regarded as the true racing simulator by the Pro-Racing industry. Now don't get me wrong Forza is great and all but it's not the Racing Simulator King.Rockman999Regarded as a true simulator by a Pro-Racing industry? Almost on the level of TP flopping back in 06. GT4 getting .1 from AAA was bad enough but for forza to get AAA a week later, a game cows endlessly bashed was too funny, massive cowexodus. I remember laughing at cows and lemmings going back and forwards over a number because at the end of the day, they both got amazing games so they both win really.

Forza really surprised me, i thought they where crazy to try and match GT, but low and behold they did what i thought was impossible at the time..... dethrone the king of racing sims... GT.
GT isn't really a pure racing sim. Just look at racing sims on the PC. THOSE are the true driving simulators.Race Pro is a true racing sim and gess what? Its another 360 exclusive :P

I'm guessing forza players get to drive real racing cars all the time right?
"Yep, real life racers utilize the racing simulator known as Gran Turismo to keep their abilities honed. Their motive for doing this is when a new track opens up for Formula 1 racers. Sometimes they can't get on the track to train before a race, so they fire up Gran Turismo and take the virtual tour. It makes perfect sense, doesn't it?"

For your first link, I said no marketing hype. What do you think that is? A contest sponsored by Sony and Nissan (whose new GTR is featured prominently on the box art but there's definitely no ulterior motives there...) is marketing.
As for the second...
"At one point, Mika Salo turns to me and asks, "Do you guys have (the circuit) Long Beach in this game? I've never driven it before and I need to learn it for the next race." Although I had to explain that Forza Motorsport 2 was not a dedicated ALMS game, it felt great to have Mika Salo tell you that Forza Motorsport 2 and the triple-screen setup is something he would purchase to practice for races."
Personally i think the best car game are the Rallisport Challenge on the Xbox (both scored 9.1 and 9.3 here). These games are amazing and i cant believe their isnt a 3rd yet. Im thinking of picking the second game up again, does anyone know if its BC with the 360?

First, that simulator is not running on Xbox 360.Its actually on 3xXbox 360 :P.So in other words NOT on 360 :D
Second, over 50 million franchise sales of GT series alone is enough to account for the best car simulator game ever ;).
I wonder what reactions were there back then :)[QUOTE="Salt_The_Fries"][QUOTE="shutdown_202"]
I think he meant Forza 1 destroyed GT4 and forza 2 destroyed prologue. I still remember the massive ownage when the GT4 review came in and flopped and then a week later the forza review came in scoring AAA. Huge cow ownage.

You forgot the rest of that paragraph.
"That said, Xbox owners need not lament as the Xbox's own flagship racer is a solid game indeed and one of the most intuitive, purest racing games available today."
Nicely done.
Does it matter that they didn't do a head to head with the two games? For all we know, they played both games and prefered Forza 2.
And I gave you a decent source which shows racers using Forza Motorsport 2 to train before a big race. Don't act as if the source is invalid purely because it comes from the Forza Motorsport website. Turn 10 didn't make those statements I quoted, the actual racers themselves did. :|

I thought Forza 2 was a bit bland tbh. I like it, just nothing really jumped out or grabbed me in the long or short term. I much rather something much more pure sim like GTR2, or something more arcade like PGR4. Forza 2 occupies a middle ground that doesn't settle terribly well with my. However I did enjoy and like the game.skrat_01
I don't really understand this. See, SimBin games are made with revheads in mind, eschewing most gamer tastes for the pure racing experience. While that sounds very romantic, anyone who's actually driven a car knows there's more to pressing the accelerator and turning the wheel. You're talking about weight distribution, oversteer and understeer, fuel efficiency -- basically everything's that's part and package of driving, let alone racing. While Forza 2 is not a completely realistic simulator, it celebrates everything there is about the racing scene, respecting revheads while at the same time making it accessible to most who wouldn't actually know how to change gears on a manual vehicle. The GTR series pushes you to have something like a Logitech G25 which isn't half-heartedly sitting in front of your screen. Racing requries a hefty deal of ergonomics, so a simulation like GTR asks you to really invest in its experience. Forza 2, to put it succinctly, says that you can play its 'simulation' with the 360 controller. You're still asked to pay attention to on-track conditions and check your torque rates, but you're not going to need to clear out your room to fully appreciate the game.
What I am trying to get at is that if you like GTR 2, you're most likely really into cars, because it pulls no punches in design and 'gameplay' (if it can be called gameplay). And if you like GTR 2, you're going to enjoy Forza 2, because it is also a game made for car enthusiasts. I mean with 300 cars, you can most likely find the one you own (or will own in the near future) and, like any good fantasy, tune it up to be a street racing beast. While GTR 2 does offer fan-made content, I can tell you from experience there's nothing like seeing the car you own actually programmed in the game to be tuned up from the get go.
Essentially,SimBin games asks you to actually drive in a simulated environment, and rewards your real-world driving skills with the smooth driving you can expect from the Gran Turismo games. Forza2 takes a step back from hardcore simulation gameplay, but compensates by expanding its racing scene with production cars and a bit of street styIe. I would seriously question the person who likes one but not the other.

As for the PGR series (my favourite), the main idea seems to be driving ridiculously expensive cars in ridiculously dangerous situations, and do stuff you will never be able to do in real life.
As if Mercedes would sell a Mclaren-SLR to someone who's going to dangerously drift all around the centre of Tokyo
