...thats sig worthy, and ill let you figure out what was wrong with what you said, all ill say is that you just proved your statement true
Ahaha, I gotta laugh. The guy in that conversation totally just pwned the other "guest host".
But seriously, the fact that these lies make public primetime news astounds me.
EDIT: Just finished the video -- and all I gotta say, is wow, those reporters are biased.
"How this game didn't receive an adults only rating astounds me. This clearly shows that ERSB has it's head between it's knees."
Seriously, wth?
English is not my first languaje. geez...club-sandwich
oh great. now we all look like a bunch of dicks :P
On topic with this subject, That guy was 90% correct. I agree that the game was properly rated, M is clearly enough to cover a corner of a boob and a suggested sex scene. He was also smart in talking about the in-console rating system. Parents have all the control in the world over thier kid's 360. Much more so than the internet, or even DVD collection.
"Oh no, Daddy's got some R+ rated movies... no, don't worry about that, its ok if they see it, but if they play something thats not even close to that, UH OH!!!, social destruction on a psycological level!!! OMG!!!!"
give it a rest. Besides, if your a normal healthy teenage boy, you've probalby seen 10x more than that from friends, on the computer, or in movies. The video game part is such a small % of the stuff that affect people compared to other media.
Parents are the ones at fault if anything.
Fox and CNN aren't news stations, it's just propaganda and political spin.Ahaha, I gotta laugh. The guy in that conversation totally just pwned the other "guest host".

awsss
I felt my IQ actually drop watching that woman talk about a piece of media she has no hands on experience with.
Hate is a very strong word that I try not to use, but I hate Fox news and pretty much every single news outlet that thinks Britney Spears shaving her head is news. That also goes for the people who choose to work for these stations that spread misinformation.
Hurting America everyday.
I dont remember that Geoff guy looking so studly. What the hell. I dont agree with the psychologist woman but she is not hard on the eyes. What the hell. The panel at the end looked so dumb talking about games. PhoebusFlowsShe's good looking but everytime she opened her mouth to talk I felt like slamming my head against the wall.
How can people be so wrong and yet still be respected?
sounds like a feminist that knows nothing about the game.
also if a parent can't figure out how to use the controls in the system to stop a kid from playing M games they shouldn't buy the system.
lastly the the anchor says kids will see in on the internet. well they parents should monitor and control the childs internet access as well. it also has nothing to do with the game. they can get real porn on the internet.
You know what's desensitising for children? Watching the news and hearing why a Republican Senator was arrested for tapping another mans shoe with his foot in a mens restroom at the airport.
What would be harder to explain?
Why the creepy old man is trying to receive anonymous oral sex from another man in a mens room
or
What was up with the 2 minute non-graphic sex scene in Mass Effect, the scene the little rascal would have to play atleast 20+ hours just to get to.
Real life is desensitising, some people just can't deal with how truely ugly the world is.
One of the ppl she asked said it should be adult only. oh come on. Movies with most graphic stuff are only rated R.
they can watch dad's movie collection and get more T&A than his games and it won't take him hours to get to that part like it would for the game.
It's not exactly newsworthy. Movies have been doing this kind of stuff for a long time.
It's ridiculous how people get bent out of shape over this one video, especially on the Gametrailers site where everyone who leaves a comment goes into a frothing rage just because these news anchors aren't hardcore video gamers like they are. They had a good point, that kids shouldn't have access games with this sort of content, even if the report was overblown. People on web forums need to grow up.

way to go aholes!!! you hurt his feelings and now hes never coming to the US lol if he lives here he will hate us while he keeps living hereIts the same thing any time they discuss something that is inappropriate.
- They never have experienced what they are discussing first hand. The woman never played ME, neither did the panel of people at the end. They just heard about it and felt it was okay to comment and critique it.
- They don't allow the expert (who knows the issue and what he is talking about) to defend the subject or explain the truth. In this case, its the guy from G4 or whatever. They either continously cut the expert off or tell them that they are out of time.
- They avoid the issue by going down another path. The woman says she hasn't played ME. So she says she watched a few trailers online. And at this point starts complaining how easy it is to view the trailers by lying about your age, saying how bad that is. What does an online site's policy regarding trailers have to do with the content of ME? Nothing. Its a separate issue entirely.
- They completely disregard the fact that a content rating system is in effect. It clearly says on the ME case that the game is rated M and for what. Instead of paying attention to that, they want to censor what people can be subjected to.
- They flat out lie and have no problem with it.
- They ignore the fact that the videogame industry is dominated by males that are over 18 years old.
Geoff owns the girl at 2:35.
"Have you ever played ME?"
"No (laughing)"
Then what the **** are you talking about it for?
1. People who havent actauly played the game (Wich is dam ovbious they havn't) have no place in critasising it.
2. Peopel who blame video game are ofthen bad parents looking for a scape gaot.
3. I garatuie you 10 year old son/daughter has allready seen and heared worse on the TV.
4. The ratings are there. Read them, use them. MA15+ mean it isnt suitable to little 6 year old jhonny.
5. The study metioned in the video that boys (Whey to be sexist) cannot tell the difference between a game and realife. This is the biggest load of crap I have heard in my entire life. Any intellengt person can tell the difference between media and real life. If you can't than you need to se a doctor to have you mental fitness examined right away.
6. I don't understand how people continue to watch fox news. It's obviuos that they think the viewers are idtiots who are incapable of thinking for themsevles.
I dont remember that Geoff guy looking so studly. What the hell. I dont agree with the psychologist woman but she is not hard on the eyes. What the hell. When geof asked that lady if she even played ME and she said no the "interview" should of just ended there.
It's rated Mature or as movies go, rated R. R movies have soft core sex scenes do they not? Mass Effect doesn't even show nipples in the scene. It's not exactly newsworthy. Movies have been doing this kind of stuff for a long time.

Dr_Corndog
Parents can set it so the Xbox 360 can't play M rated games, they can also refuse to buy said game.
They also say it's targeted towards children, it's clearly not.

but they already don't have access to that stuff. or at least the same access as they do for movies with more graphic content so what really is the point?

way to go aholes!!! you hurt his feelings and now hes never coming to the US lol if he lives here he will hate us while he keeps living hereNo, I don't live in the US, I just go on vacations because I have a house there.Luke Skywalker meets Debbie does Dallas.....
Why are these people on television? It makes my brain hurt how obvious it is that none of the people on that show have done absolutely no research at all on the subject...Thank god they had that guy from spike TV to give some form of support to common sense, even if they did completely shut him off.
They always shut the logical person off, that's why I never watch that garbage.Luke Skywalker meets Debbie does Dallas.....

Oh dear lord.
Always rely on Fox News to bring the lulz. I'm not really surprised they picked up on this, but I simply can't get over people's stupidity and ignorance. It continues to baffle me. They're basically reiterating the sensationalistic garbage that misinformed attention-whore Townhall guy made up and posted on his blog. And like him they didn't bother checking facts before blatantly lying. It's really, really sad.
"Have you ever played Mass Effect?"
"(sarcastically giggles) No."
I hate it how these uninformed, pro-censorship, anti-video game activists compare the likes of a two minute sex scene with partial nudity in a 30+ hour video game with friggin' Playboy magazine.
Difficult to tell if everyone in panel at the end was just feigning ignorance or actually doesn't know anything about games...
"Luke Skywalker meets Debbie Does Dallas" :|
Did they even listen to the guy who actually played the game and knew what he was talking about?
Yes another reason not to watch Fox News!!!hamstergeddon
You need a reason not to? I won't get into Fox news and their politcally driven take on what they sell as news but yeah Mass Effect cuts scene I found to be no more riskay than ALOT of the music videos even younger kids then who can play this game actually watch.
I mean yeah the internet alone is where kids see stuff, no need to pretend its in games or movies. Just like before the net it was in magazines they got their hands on.
Like always, all these things are on the parents shoulders. Entertainment is not suppose to bring your children up or raise them. You can show all the terrible things in the world of offer a kid drugs and this and that, but if that kid is loved and raised right it won't phase him or her. Parenting is so not focused on in NA it's so sad. Instead, like how that Blame Canada song in South Park pointed out, all people do is blame because they're too lazy to be a real parent.
What's that line at the end of the song "We must blame Canada for all this fuss before someone thinks of blaming us!"
LOL
Not that this is an American thing mind you, this IS worldwide but does seem to be alot more popular in north america. People need to stop letting entertainment be the babysitter.
thats almost as crazy and awesome as
CRYSIS ON PS3

lol I didn't noticed that. :lol:You know what the funniest thing about this is? They just showed that rated M content on national, free, unrated television.Oh my God what stupid noobs. XD
MegaTyX
What the $#!% is wrong with TV today? WTF did I just watch?
I feel queasy after that.
So much misinformation, they may as well just have put their hands over their ears while the guy was talking and went, "nah nah I'm not listening!"
Seriously, where do they get off treating Mass Effect this way? Why is Mass Effect caught up in all this!? It has less violence than your average shooter, less sex than your average movie, tv show or other games, gives you morale issues and only does the (tastefully done) sex scene if you build a relationship!
Did you hear that ^$% just shrug off what the guy said about the game? "I'm gunna go with the experts on this one." What experts? Who are you getting your lies from?
Just wow. Why this sort of thing gets on the air... I hope nobody really watches this stuff. If any game does not deserve to be dragged through the mud it is Mass Effect. Its clear these people have NO respect for gaming, or the games or their developers or the people who play them.
1. you did not play the game so STFU!
2. where did this research come from? I did not hear any sources... even if there was a source I'm very sure it would be old and would not be up to date with todays VG demographic.
3. Was that even a game he said he bought his daughter? And AO is a little harsh for something that show little to no nudity. Does FOX news even watch what is on their channel? Some needs to be R by their standards.
4. I will now watch Spike's gamming shows, the guy knew what he was talking about. I now have respect for Spike for sending someone to show up the anus bags.
