Im not going to rush out and buy any of the next gen consoles. I have so many games back logged right now from STEAM its not even funny. Plus when you consider that any new console launch will feature a very over priced console that is probably maybe only on par with current higher end PC's but with 1/10 of the games library and none of the upgradeability. How much do you consolites think the next XBOX and Playstation are going to go for at launch? if they truely are going to try and match current PC technology, Im betting the price tag will be a ridiculous $400-600 easy and maybe more. Like I said, Im out!! PC/360 will hold me for a long time!!
Portable gaming is the future and the next gen consoles will most likely be the last. The mobile market is moving at a very fast pace. The atrix 4g is top dog for now in 6 months it will be old news. If you can play games on your cell phone then come home and hook it up to your hdtv then why get a console???
So fox is right my not right now. The future is much closer than many console gamers think. Pretty soon your cell phone will do it all and everybody will have one. Console won't be the only market affected pc gamers will be also to a lesser extent. Game makers will have to change the way they do biz as digital downloads are the future.
Who? Fox news? the guys who told people that bullestorm would make our kids a bunch of killers and rapist? yeah they have a lot of credibility.

What's worng?? The wrong comes from the fact that is based on what a so called "avid gamer" says.
They could've asked me and if I said, "PC gaming is dead"... would you agree just because I make statementsabout why I think so??
Stevo_the_gamer
Well, thank you for showing me that you didn't read the article.
The very next line says, "Ormond obviously doesn't speak for every gamer. Fanatics who play more than 10 hours a week -- sometimes as much as 5-6 hours per day -- are more than happy to regularly part with that kind of cash for admittedly deeper and longer-lasting gameplay."
Some people don't know how to copy and paste. So they never read the article because it wasn't a link, but rather a url.[QUOTE="Stevo_the_gamer"]

Never said I did... all I'm saying it's that the article is wrong, no matter what their reasons are.
We know consoles aren't anywhere near their end.
But this brings me to my previous question, would you agree with me if I said "PC is dead"?
Until you actually read the article, your opinion on the article is worthless.Fox News also reported that President Obama was dead. drakekratosWhen was this? I watch Fox News all the time and never saw anything about this. Or are you confusing "Obama" with "Osama"?

DD, and Streaming is the future for video games. Why should I go out and buy a Blu-ray or DVD for X amount, when I can just lay in bed, never leave the house, and stream the movie via netflix? Over a decade ago, I would have thought that would be the silliest damn thing I had ever heard. Now? A decade from now... we'll be streaming our videogames, or mainly purchasing them via DD.[QUOTE="Stevo_the_gamer"]
[QUOTE="GreenGoblin2099"]]
Oh yeah, DD... you win man.
I forgot DD is NOT possible on consoles, right??
GreenGoblin2099
Again... DD is NOT possible on consoles, RIGHT????
Seriously, it's a stupid reason to say consoles are near their dead.
It is also stupid to form an opinion about an article without even reading, but here we are with you doing just that.[QUOTE="AmazonTreeBoa"]When was this? What he's trying to say is that console gaming isn't going to die and that DD will take over physical media like you kindly said Steven.:) I think he was using sarcasm but it's alright, not always easy to catch a joke sometimes.:P
Now back to DA2.:)
Edit: lulz FOX news. Nice little article but too bad it's by them.:P

I'm pretty sure everyone knows that. They're just joking around with it because Fox News was dumb enough to make that typo.

People also don't realize that it's a local Fox affiliate and not Fox News that made the typo.
 What idiots, right?
That's not reporting that Obama was dead. That's reporting Osama is dead with a typo. Anybody with half a brain cell can see that.I'm pretty sure everyone knows that. They're just joking around with it because Fox News was dumb enough to make that typo.If that's the case, then there isn't a "smart" news channel. I have seen typos on so many different news networks it isn't funny. Pointing out something on Fox News that every channel has done and calling them stupid because of it is.......well just stupid.[QUOTE="AmazonTreeBoa"]

Already knew that. Just saying what others felt. :)Gangstar series on I-pod is basically proving that these short dollar games can be near console quality. Even length wise. Of course, it's FOX.Yeah it makes sense, just like how all the people that play consoles instead choose to just stick to flash games on PC or easy to run indie games, or anything else like that...oh wait they do BOTH!? Wow thats a crazy thought.
This notion is just stupid. YOu simply cannot obtain the same quality and length of game on an iphone or whatnot.

Considering this is System Wars, you might even find people who said yes.Did they forget they could talk about how socialist Obama is or something? What is this?
He's not socialist btw
You know what. I dont wanna give FOX News any credit, because I think they're horrible.
But yes, they're right. Consoles are becoming the new arcade.
In the 80's, gamers started to abandon the arcades in favor of consoles because it was more convenient.
You didn't have to leave the house anymore. You could now play the latest and best games in the comfort of your own home.
Now we are entering into an age where smartphones and internet browsers are easily capable of running high-quality games and with a cheaper price.
So now, instead of having to buy this big $200-300 chunk of plastic used solely for games, you can now play the latest games on devices that also hold important functions in our day to day lives.
Of course, this isn't going to happen for at least another decade, so consoles have at least 2 more gens ahead of them.
Just my 2 cents.
As for me, I'm not sure if console gaming will completely die, but mobile gaming is and WILL grow to be close to console gaming in about, I'd give it 5 years. If you think that's stupid, just think about where mobile gaming was 5 years ago. If it wasn't Pac-Man, it was s---. And now, we're here debating this right now. Another thing is pricing. Let's be honest, paying $400 for something dedicated to games vs. a $100-$200 phone they need that can also play games is really obvious to most consumers, on top of $60 games vs. free to $10 games. And one more point, the phone market allows for quicker growth on the power capabilites, which always put out new, stronger phones all the time, when consoles take 5 years to update.
One last note, do not take into account the people here in SW as representative of our generation. We hate Modern Warfare here with a passion. I don't think I need to say anything else.
Don't get me wrong, I love console gaming too much, and I don't see it dying like Fox News does. I see a future where we will have both, which is win-win for everyone. But still, why is everyone at extremes with this, where either mobile gaming never survives, or console gaming will never survive?
exactly :lol:fox news call him an avid gamer, but he just stated he mostly games on his iphone....yeah nuff said

As a 20 year old who just moved out and settled for a less than stellar internet connection, I don't want my money to be spent on imaginary copies of games that can only be played with an internet connection. You should read the entire article, not the part that was selectively included in the OP. The personal anecdote, while interesting, was not the main point.
While it's easy to say "lol, Fox News," cloud computing definitely has the potential to change console gaming as we know it. Though, that may not necessarily be a bad thing. Perhaps, the three console makers will allow you to both stream your games and purchase them in the traditional manner.

Not only that, that pic is from a local Fox News station, not THE Fox News. Fox News is not out to eat your babies and their reporting is just as twisted and biased as MSNBC and CNN, if you can't see that then your just as close-minded and ignorant as Sean Hannity or Keith Olbermann. I only defend them because I feel they get a bad rap when all the other news outlets do the same thing. Trust me I'm not fan of alot of the personalities on the network but Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld is one of the funniest shows on TV. It airs at like 2:00am or something and you'd be suprised at how off-the wall and hilarious it is.[QUOTE="timmy00"]
