It is also stupid to form an opinion about an article without even reading, but here we are with you doing just that.[QUOTE="AmazonTreeBoa"]

Again... DD is NOT possible on consoles, RIGHT????
Seriously, it's a stupid reason to say consoles are near their dead.
GreenGoblin2099
Well, I don't need to read the whole thing to know it's trash... the title is enough to realize it's crap.
OR do you really believe consoles are dyin soon??
If you wish for me to even acknowledge you anymore in this thread, then read the article. Once you do that, then I will care to have a conversation with you about the article. Until then, I have nothing to say to somebody that clearly has no clue what they are even talking about.Guess mommy never taught you to not judge a book by it's cover.

Oh I read it after my discussion with Stevo... still think is as stupid as I initially though. I guess mommy thought her son really well.
Now answer my question please and allow me to have my laughs with whatever you say.
It's actually true that we're in the near end of the consoles. Streaming or DD is the future.sethman410not at all...i mean its gonna be a painful crossover if that is indeed the future because not everyone wants DD or streaming as their only source of ownership. i mean i seriously do not like the idea at all and im sure im not alone..
It's kind of interesting to think about the future of gaming.
I suppose eventually we'll all have an all in one sort of TV entertainment system. Everything is digital. Games, music, movies, internet, etc... All streamed and available through your television.
It may take awhile, but the physical nature of discs and consoles will eventually be digital. You know it's true.

Um mommy thought you really well......HUH?But yes consoles are dieing. Each gen they become less and less console and more and more PC. So consoles will die as they turn into a PC. But the article was never really about consoles dieing. More about consoles as we know them today are dieing, which is true. This gens consoles (excluding Wii) are more like a PC than last gens. And next gens consoles will be even more like a PC than this gen. See what's happening here? Consoles are turning into PC more and more with every passing gen.

Well, IIRC, the article DOES say it's the end of consoles... and then list a number of reasons that might get consoles to EVOLVE, not to disappear.

But but but where is the laughing you were going to do at what I said....oh wait, that was just you acting like you knew something you really knew nothing about. Teach you to just assume what somebody else thinks won't it? Funny how you thought I thought consoles were just dieing off the way they were talking in the article just because I was riding you for having a worthless opinion (because that's what it was before you read the article, a worthless opinion). At least now you read it.I am not a fanboy and you would do good to remember that in the future so you don't just assume what I am thinking and look silly when you are wrong. And yes I am a PC gamer and think it is the best. But I still love consoles and can't wait to replace my PS3.
And last but not least. Once consoles have fully turned into a PC, then yes consoles will have disappeared.
[QUOTE="AmazonTreeBoa"]If that's the case, then there isn't a "smart" news channel. I have seen typos on so many different news networks it isn't funny. Pointing out something on Fox News that every channel has done and calling them stupid because of it is.......well just stupid. Not only that, that pic is from a local Fox News station, not THE Fox News. Fox News is not out to eat your babies and their reporting is just as twisted and biased as MSNBC and CNN, if you can't see that then your just as close-minded and ignorant as Sean Hannity or Keith Olbermann. I only defend them because I feel they get a bad rap when all the other news outlets do the same thing. Trust me I'm not fan of alot of the personalities on the network but Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld is one of the funniest shows on TV. It airs at like 2:00am or something and you'd be suprised at how off-the wall and hilarious it is.I couldnt have said it better...Bravo[QUOTE="timmy00"]I'm pretty sure everyone knows that. They're just joking around with it because Fox News was dumb enough to make that typo.

Devs certainly want it
-No need to deal with used games which hurts their sales more than piracy
-Saves money in packaging, disks and shipping costs etc
-Can sell directly to the consumer and cuts out the middleman like gamestop, or at least go to a middleman that would net them a better deal.
PC has already shifted to DD, and consoles are becoming more and more like PCs every generation
I am annoyed with these so called "analyst" and their ignorant predictions. Sure, iPod gaming and facebook has become a success, but that experience is very different from a console game. As a true game, I will not stop gaming and paying fo console games for a long time, and I am sure other gamers will agree.
And has anybody ever played an iPod touch game? It requires you to hold it in an excrutiatingly uncomfortable position and use a very flawed touch-screen control system on a 11 inch screen. Hows that for fun?
Sorry but I think you mean desktop PCs. Tablets and Handhelds are a far larger threat to PCs in general than to consoles. Most users only need to check email, write papers, play casual games all of which your modern phone and tablet can do.(Mobile gaming has caught up to desktop PC gaming IIRC) The very design of future computer hardware is focusing on low-power users with the likes of AMD's APU, Intel's 22nm tri-gate technology, and especially ARM which focuses on power efficiency rather than brute force and they are "good enough" for most users. Monolithic CPUs and GPUs are a dying breed and will be relegated to only the hardcore power users which are insignificant relatively. Services like Onlive will never be a viable alternative because more companies are introducing bandwidth caps along with slow, expensive data plans. Consoles, in my opinion, will be the only medium that's unaffected by the assault of mobile computing.I agree. Consoles are going to die out eventually as portable gaming machines (and streaming based services) take over.
Stevo_the_gamer
[QUOTE="Stevo_the_gamer"]Yup, while PC segment just keeps thriving. :) Thriving? PC gaming is only 6-7% larger than console gaming. This minuscule gap is hardly anything to write home about and certainly isn't enough to lend credence to any "doom's day" scenarios for consoles.I agree. Consoles are going to die out eventually as portable gaming machines (and streaming based services) take over.

If the consoles fall out of favor it won't be because of the iPhone or cellphone games. Personally I think that the demise of consoles would be a good thing. I can't think of a console game that was a good value compared to WoW.
I am shocked that people would tell me physical based media will last for decades...Stevo_the_gamerWhen did digital distribution of music start? 10 years ago? 15? Guess what I still see in stores. CDs. Who would have thought...
when I can play newer experiences elsewhere in a lot less timeAyrtonsennnaYeah, just give me games that I can finish within 5 minutes. Who wants to sit for hours in front of their systems?
Personally I think we only have about one or two more generations of consoles as we know them now. As much as I'm not looking forward to it Digital Download and Cloud Computing will be the future of gaming. From a business standpoint it costs a lot less money to have you download the game from their server than it does to press a disc, put it in packaging, and then ship it out to retailers. I guess the one nice thing would be that prices could be adjusted instantly depending on how a game sells, since you would be buying the game directly from the publisher, or developer themselves.
Value is subjective :) People who play Halo game invest just as many hours as those who play WoW. I put 100+ hours into Halo 3 within the first week of owning it.If the consoles fall out of favor it won't be because of the iPhone or cellphone games. Consoles already have a digital distribution platform in PSN and XBL. You can already do that. DD will never take off as long as more and more ISP switch to bandwidth caps.Personally I think we only have about one or two more generations of consoles as we know them now.
