Yes, it is true that the ps3 does cost more than the 360 (not the elite though), but, you get much more with what you pay.

An 80 gb at the cost of $400 ps3 comes with:

• Blu-ray
• Dualshock 3 Wireless Rechargable Controller (with usb to charge it)
• Free PSN membership, which offers home
• Built in Wi-Fi
• Composite Cables
• 80 GB of storage for games, media, and things you download.

A 60 GB Xbox 360 at the cost of $300 comes with:

• Xbox 360 wireless controller which runs on batteries
• Xbox live membership, which offers avatars (first month free)
• Composite/Component Cables
• 60 GB of storage for games, media, and things you download.

As you can see, the ps3 comes with more things than the 360. These extra things for the 360 include:

• A wireless networking adapter ($100)
• Play and Charge kit ($20)
• HD DVD Drive ($200) (to match up to blu-ray)
• To play Online, Xbox Live ($50/1 year)

So if the Price of a ps3 80gb is $400 + component cables, it comes out to $420.

If the price of a xbox 60 gb is $300 + wireless adapter + play and charge kit + hd dvd drive, it comes out to $620! And if you play your xbox online for maybe...4 more years? Thats $820 dollars in total with 20 less GB of storage!!

You simply get what you pay for if you buy the ps3.

Except you can't play games with your controller while they are rechargeing, sicne the usb cable is so short. WiFI causes lag in games, you don't need the HDDVD drive especially sicen its not in production anymore, so take that out. I dont know why you would try to justify a 360 price point with the HD dvd drive in there.

Therefore, 360 is $300, no need for Wifi since its much overrated and no HDDVD drive, so $50 for xbl one year = $350 whcih is still cheaper than PS3. Yuo can buy a 10 pack of recheargable batteries AND the charge kit for $30 at costco, so lets say the total is $380 total. On top of that you get access to the best games library of any console on teh market today.

No matter how much money you spend, you can never achieve that on the PS3... sorry, 360 is still bette rno matter hwo you look at it.

I own both and I would gladly pay $50 a year for PSN to be as good as XBL. I don't even play any of my PS3 games online, it's just a waste of time. I hope that changes with Resistance 2 and Killzone 2.

But yeah, PSN is garbage and even if the XBOX 360 is somehow more expensive overall, it doesn't bother in me in the slightest because with the great service that is XBL, I have a great online experience through a completely connected network.

hey, i've heard that ps3 online sucks. mt friend told me that he was playing xbox 360 and his friend was playing ps3 (same room, router) the ps3 gets disconnected but the other one on the 360 was still playing. iam2green

Oh lord this has got to be a joke, its not our fault sony included a bunch of useless accessories that most people don't need which jacks up the price of their console. It was an extremely foolish move on sony's part, but you obviously can't see that.

The problem with your argument is that, with the exception of xbox live membership, you don't need to buy those addons for the 360 to play games on it.

Another thing, regarding the wireless controllers, the difference between changing batteries and having to plug in the controller into the console isn't very significant, IMO. They are both equally annoying (especially since the USB cable that comes with the PS3 is so short).

Ok to those who say who needs these faetures (for the PS3) i'll address them personally one by one.

WiFI - My PC has to be connected to the router and cannot have my PS3 anywhere near the router so i NEED WiFi and b) if WiFi slows it down, It must be so bad that I can't notice it.

Blu-Ray - For me this is not essential. The picture quality is great but looks simialr to upscaled DVD's, although I do hate the letterbox format that upscaled DVD's become. The sound is really where Blu Ray wins, absoultly amazing.

PSN - Yes it is a weaker service, although not as much as 360 owners would have you believe. I have no problem finding a match, no lag issues AND above all i have fun.

Speaking of fun I think i'll have that now instead of navel gazing and getting too worked up about my purchase (the amount you need to defend your purchase, either way, makes me wonder if you thought you brought the wrong system).

ummm what is this garbage you speak of? psn has been nothing but smooth and easy for me, whereas i used to have a lot of problems playing on live with lag and annoying 7 year olds screaming all the time

for me this is very significant and i am sure others will agree. batteries cost money, a lot of money for a poor bastard like me, not to mention when ur batteries die and you dont have any replacements
