Umm... dude... I've been calling it a rip off of SSB since it was revealed. I don't even want to play the game, never did.
Also... you've seen me bash Sony for this or that.
Now because I see blatant stupidity by GS against a game that happens to be a PS exclusive....all of a sudden I'm a fanboy?

I'm just playing bro. I think the reviewer has a point for a game like this though. It's supposed to be a beat em up. If you play the demo the game plays and looks like Smash Bros but they want to add extra depth that doesn't fit into a game like this. There are 4 characters on screen at once, not 2. This game is basically a clusterf*ck.
GS's reviews have been a joke for awhile now. It's just best to let it go and refer to metacritic or something. Best to refer to IGN's review since they sounded they knew what they were talking about and their complaints were valid and reasonable.Playstation All Stars Battle Royale - 6.5... hmmm.... okay, whatever... maybe it is, maybe it isn't.

Then you're only defending it out of brand loyalty. What an idiot.WHAT?! What brand loyalty? Are you stupid? Who am I loyal to? Sony? Is that why I don't have a Vita and don't want one. Is that why I play 360 the most out of my consoles, and have 7 or 8 times more games for my 360, because I'm loyal to Sony?
Fvck you're dumb.

Idk what to tell you dude I also believe GS's reviews have been a joke for awhile but since your posting on their website..your gonna have to just suck it up. I come to Gamespot for the Active Forums not the Reviews, not much point complaining about the Reviews when everyone will just go *BooHoo Crybaby* or *Get Out Of The Website Then* you post in Gamespot you go by *Its Rules*
what's your problem with that point? Do you disagree that there is a steep learning curve, or do you think that a steep learning curve in a wacky party game is a good thing?GunSmith1_basicThere is no steep learning curve. Everything is pretty simplistic except MAYBE chaining combos together from the various buttons if you're not used to fighters.
It's one thing to have depth in a game like this, but I completely agree when the review says it's a negative to have a steep learning curve. It's a party game which should be easy to pick up and play.
Since when is a steep learning curve NOT a bad thing? This should always be avoided, even if you do have a complex system. It's bad design.
Naturally, if you want something complicated and you can't convey it easily, then this will count as a negative, and you'll have to bite the bullet and release it that way.
It doesn't mean it's a bad game altogether, but if anything has a steep learning curve, it should be pointed out. You shouldn't hide it just because it on the whole produces something awesome. It should be stated that there is complexity, and there is a learning curve. Which the reviewer does indeed state.

I dunno. Have you played the full version yet to see?
No? There you go.
I just like the part where the reviewer said that it's fighting mechanics are more complex than those in professional level fighting games. That really got me going.
And no I'm not exaggerating. He literally said that.

yeah... well I havent played the game... like I said before. I don't know if it deserves a 6.5 or not... couldnt care less. I just think that saying a complex battle system is a negative is ridiculous.
But whatever.... regardless, its a FLOPPY FLOP.
Compared to the other reviews I read on this, GS's is just terrible. Can't trust their reviews after the Infamous 2 and Skyward Sword review which was terrible.
This thread is further proof that people can't handle someone having a opinion that's different from their own.

I have and nothing about this system is complex or on the level of professional level fighting games like SF / UMVC3 / KOF XIII / BB or MK. This doesn't even touch Persona 4 Arena and that has an automatic combo button.Since when is a steep learning curve NOT a bad thing? I dunno. I certainly see your point, but for example Crusader Kings II came out this year to become one of my favorite titles this gen (and completely by surprise). While I consider the mechanics and interface of the game excellent now, it is almost universally described as having a brutally steep learning curve. Does that pose a barrier to entry for those impatient to learn? Absolutely. However, I really don't believe you can make a game with the depth CKII has without requiring a "breaking in" period. Just seems to me labelling any expectation of the gamer as "bad design" is what has brought gaming to the aim assist/auto complete/ect place we are today.

Never been a big fan of these types of games myself, however I have been around GS long enough to know that if the game doesnt have HUGE ammounts of hype like Halo, Dark Souls, GTA, MGS and/or is so easy that a small child could play it then its likely going to score badly by most of the reviewers here on GS. just wait for the Planetside 2 and Arma III reviews when the "its too hard and complicated" reviews come along.
and I'm calling it now, DMC will get a 10/10. The game's so casual that you can do frame-cancels with your feet because of the super wide timing. NT murdered the franchise and turned it into a game for noobs with pointless automoted platforming and button mashing battle system. 10/10 from Gamespot I tell you!

Yeah but the thing is, there is no steep learning curve. You have 3 attack buttons, a jump button, your block button, and your super. Thats all you really need to know to jump in and start beating people. Mastering their combos and strategies is like every other fighting game, putting time and effort into learning whatever character you're trying to main. From that review it just seemed like he didn't know jack about fighting games and was just prepared to hate and nitpick this game.Since when is a steep learning curve NOT a bad thing? I'm glad to see this flop. What a rip-off of smash bros. Sony should really be ashamed (and I typically like Sony).
Why are people acting like a6.5 is a bad score?ultrakingI've seen people on here act like an 8.5 is a bad score before, so not surprised the flop brigade is out in full force.

So it was all fine and funny when Skyward Sword got a 7.5, but now that your precious smash bros knockoff got 6.5ed gamespot sucks huh?
Lol, I actually though the same when I first saw the review. Are these people really complaining the game is complex? I facepalmed hard, but then again, I've been restraining myself from complaining on SW about PSASBR review to not read the common "yo butthurt/mad" replies. The game still looks fun and it has been having some good reviews all around so I may pick it up when it comes down in price
edit: Just saw more reviews
8.0 on IGN and 9.0 on destructoid, currently at 76 on meta
Really not as bad as fanboys wished it to be. It still has plenty of room to improve. The first SSB also received average review scores fyi
