[QUOTE="DarkLink77"]Ruby and Sapphire did a lot of things wrong (horrible pacing, broken level curve), but they had an incredible overworld, some of the best Pokemon and I think the best music in the series. They clearly deserve a second chance, and I think that a remake might actually fix all their faults. Oh hell no. Definitely the best overworld (what, you can't buy some repels people?), the best music, second best pacing after B/W, and the leveling curve was fantastic, though 4th gen was the best at that. 5th gen had a terrible, horrendous leveling curve. I brought my lvl. 88 Aggron over to B/W, used it in a few battles with a Lucky Egg, and got it to lvl. 100 in less than a day. It's so pathethicly easy, the sense of feeling accomplished having high level Pokemon goes away fast. Oh yeah, the best Pokemon. DL wears his nostalgia-glasses too tightly. Kanto blooooooows man. But a Ruby remake? YES PLEASE! WOOOOOOOOOOOT! Only starter I have left to go with in Hoenn is Sceptile.Ruby and Sapphire should be left to rot in hell where they belong.

Oh f***! Now I have to start saving up for a 3DS too? I also need some upgrades on my rig...and so many games coming out this year and the next...damnit!
I can't keep up. I haven't even started Soul Silver yet. I think I have OD'ed on Pokemon. Good thing there are plenty of Pokemaniacs to carry the sales load until they eventually make an MMO... at which point I will be all over the series again. Till then, I think I'll hold off for the sake of my sanity.
How about they make a another sequal of Silver and Gold :3 Soul Silver needed more story in the second half...i felt like i rused through out johto way too fast.Solid_TangoYou mean another game set in Johto?
I know lots of people (especially us the Pokemon fans) love remakes however I agree with some and I say, let this game die alone... That along with, "Is it really necessary?"
Emerald is quiet possible the best "3rd" pokemon game ever released and improved Ruby/Sapphire in every single way possible. Honestly I don't want to replay Emerald version with a few gimmicks like the Pokewalker/Pokemon following you/better graphics...ect.I would much rather have a remake of the pokemon trading card game than this.
Though don't get me wrong, I think I played my Ruby (not counting B/W)version more than any other pokemon game (looking back I don't understand why) and it has more nostalgia to me than both Gold/Silver and Red/Blue.
Back in the Saphire/Ruby and to some extent Emerald days, Sceptile was incredible popular. (not as much as Swampert)Leaf Blade pwned hard, and at the time was the fastest sub/seeder in the game. With something like starmie as support, Sceptile was annoying as hell.Hopefully they'll make Treeko's move pool slightly less abysmal. I have yet to use it as a starter.

The lameness of B/W and D/P and the brilliance of Pokemon SS taught me that I've outgrown Pokemon and only get by on nostalgia. I loved Pokemon Ruby I think I was 12 at the time so I'd love a remake. Long live Kanto, Johto and Hoenn.
I figured these would come at some point. Regardless, I'm very excited. This is the gen of Pokemon that I missed out on, and although the majority says that this is the worst gen I'm very eager to play.
Along with updates plus the ability to use all the new Pokemon in these areas will hopefully make it a richer experience than what it once was.

More like Pokemon outgrew you.
Give it some time (5-10 years), then come back to the franchise.
You may be surprised.

The fundamental issue with the game was a highly broken leveling curve, leading to God awful pacing. They can fix that with the remakes.Ruby and Sapphire should be left to rot in hell where they belong.

Ruby and Sapphire? Not so much, and they had more problems than the leveling curve.

What other problems do you think did they have? I don't really remember. I've tried to repress their sheer disappointment. But I could have overlooked a bad leveling curve. That would not have ruined Pokemon for me for God knows how many years.[QUOTE="charizard1605"][QUOTE="DarkLink77"] The main difference being that all those games were, y'know, good when they came out. What other problems do you think did they have? DarkLink77
The reason for your disappointment is that they cut out a lot of what made Gold/Silver so great (such as day and night and the ability to visit a previous region). You, along with me and everyone else, expected Ruby/Sapphire to be like Gold/Silver, and it wasn't, so we were disappointed. Objectively assessed as their own games in isolation, Ru/Sa remain very good, with the two problems that I listed above their only major issues.
[QUOTE="Cruxis27"]
R/S did not have a bad leveling curve, they were just more challenging than the other games.
DSmon
Agree, now G/S, those games had a bad leveling curve.
pretty much. You beat Lance and the elite 4, get on the ship to go to Kanto, and suddenly your fighting wild pokemon that are level 5 again?@ Charizard: Rehash year after year with nothing changing? Yeah, its very, very close.
Calvin079
It takes like 3-4 years before a new game is released in the main series, theres only 5 generations of pokemon compared to the 8 COD games and pokemon is 16 years old, if games were released yearly there would be around 16 or 17 games in the main series by now.
There is 8 COD games and COD is 8 years old, THATS MILKING!

And there are roughly that many main games: Red, Blue, then Yellow. Then out came Gold and Silver, followed by Crystal. After that, it was Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald. Then out came Diamond, Pearl and Platinum. In between these 6 games came the Red & Blue GBA remakes, then the Gold/Silver remakes for the DS, then Black & White. [QUOTE="Silverbond"][QUOTE="AngryJuice"]Sure, but if you went that generation without getting Emerald you were doing it wrong. Emerald was the best, indeed. Only because of the copy glitch, amirite??? :P (JK)3rd Gen was my second favorite after 2. I'd buy this day one.
Oh and Ruby>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Saphire.
Deal with it 8)
