Well I loved the first one, and after hearing about all of the things they added to the second, I am super hyped for the game.

The only game I've played so far that's been released this year is Mass Effect 3, so I guess that.

So far it is Mass Effect for me easily. It really did hit all the marks it wanted to hit such as a sense of dread, happiness or sadness. The combat felt great it was fast and smooth and it had the best comabt of the three Mass Effect games. It had such great moments such as target practice with Garus or thinking Grunt is about to die and he goes out the Krogan way fighting. The ending could have been better even though the hate was ridiculously overblown because it was not near as bad as most were acting. It gives me a sad feeling knowing I will never have a game with Shepard, Tali, Liara, Garus, Wrex, Grunt, Mordin, or any of the anothers again. There maybe another game with one or two of them in it but I doubt the whole crew will be there.

Max Payne 3 (which is the only 2012 game i've played so far)

Why would you even put Diablo on that list if we are talking GOTY ?

id say ME3

Borderlands 2, followed by Diablo 3. And I'm starting a anti-Guild Wars 2 campaign. The game reeks of ass and does not deserve to be in contention.

No MMORPG will ever get into top 5 of anything. The genre sucks that bad.

For me I'd put GOTY contenders so far in this order:

1. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

2. The Amazing Spider-Man

3. Darksiders 2

4. Borderlands 2

5. Dragon's Dogma

and Mass effect 3 is the most boring game I had the misfortune to play this year, so overrated it's not funny.

Still have to go with this.

I haven't gotten around to playing the Last Story yet, still trying to beat FFXIII-2 and Xenoblade (thats what I get for trying to tackle 2 RPG's at once, but some days I just feel like on or the other as they are both great). But I think he lol'd because 90% of posters here apprently don't think games are good if the color pallet isn't 90% brown and the cast of charactes aren't 99% muscleheads with guns.

I don't know why all of a sudden jrpgs are looked down so much this generation (expecially here on gamespot), Everyone seems to call them kiddy and childish, and complain about the gameplay (which we all loved them last gen, so why all of a sudden are they hated this gen)? I dunno, I still immensly enjoy them and I'm glad a few other do too. Xenoblade so far is my Second GOTY as I just really really love the Mass Effect Series. And I will hopefully get to play the Last story here soon.

This year has been fantastic for RPGs. FFXIII-2, Tales of Graces F, Xenoblade, The Last Story plus ME3 and 360 gamers got a chance with TW2. Next year looks promising too for some RPG's.

God help us if Mass Effect is the GOTY. Some of the writing in that was so cringing and corny.

Max Payne 3 is a decent action game, but a weak Max Payne game. With the amount of time put into Assassins Creed 3 it should win this comfortably.

Yeah Max Payne 3 is amazing.

Sleeping Dogs so far, still playing through Borderlands 2. I think AC3 or Hitman will be GOTY for me though.Jack-o-Thompson
